Heval
Jorgen Nicolai took the decision to join the Kurds in their fight against Islamic State after his friend was abducted and killed by IS. He fights at the “tip of the spear” on the western front and in the spring offensive against the jihadi warriors, and chronicles the war against a fanatic foe in nerve wracking detail. 100% of the book revenue is donated to the children in the UNHCR & UNICEF camps mentioned in the book. This Diary is the only one of its kind describing the war against Islamic State directly from the front-line.

This is a great view of life in Syria, fighting against ISIS on the side of the Kurdish forces from the point of view of a foreign fighter. It is straightforward, clearly written and includes photos to help illustrate the events and bring the people to life. Although at times it is sad, it shows the bravery, kindnesses and sense of brotherhood of the fighters. It is a fascinating, insightful account and I thoroughly recommend it.
