'The Beautiful People's Beauty Book' shares the philosophy of beauty that Princess Luciana and her friends (mostly models and jet-setters) partake in. Princess Luciana, a Roman Aristocrat by marriage, believes in self-examination, discipline, experimentation, simplicity, prevention, parsimony, organization and professional consulation. There are kitchen recipes for skin problems, exercises and beauty tips, but the Princess focuses more on motivating readers to reach their potential than in giving specific dos and don'ts. Princess Luciana states, "You alone have to wish to make something of yourself."

This is the type of book that critics love to pick apart and mock because Princess Luciana has rich people's problems. Should she sun in Rome or Rio? Also, some passages (due to time I imagine) are unintentionally campy. However, Princess Luciano, is no snob and her words shouldn't be laughed at! Follow her advice and you will be fabulous.

I am continually distressed by Goodreads' lack of "ironic consumption" tags.

Jezebel would have a field day with this one! But I love vintage beauty books.
