For years, Simone Fitzgerald has battled to live a normal life, despite the multitude of voices she constantly hears.

It seems she's succeeding, until an angel appears and asks her to embrace her gifts and stand as a prophet.

When demon forces mobilize the creatures of legend against mankind, and the wrath of The Creator burns hot against creation, is one mom strong enough to embrace the light and bring peace to the universe, or will she be crushed under the weight of the burden she's been asked to bear?

E.A. Comiskey is an award-winning fiction writer and nationally syndicated blogger. Her work is broadly described as “speculative fiction” and is often a wild mix of humor, mythology, fantasy, horror, and romance.

She lives in a much-loved, rickety old house in rural Michigan with her husband, children, and a veritable zoo of creatures. If there’s a festival in the area, you can bet she’s there, most likely drawing on the pavement with chalk. After all, when you live in Michigan, you go outside whenever you get the chance.

Simone had struggled to ignore the voices for so long, they had once driven her to the brink of madness. If not for Michael, her loving husband, she would have long been lost to the inaudible chattered. He helped her to focus, to push back the deafening noise to a more bearable level. She never would have imagined what she heard to be so important, the herald of a new and coming age. The veil drawn between worlds, for better or worse, is coming down, and Simone has been gifted with the ability to hear those from the other sides. A skill she must embrace if she is to save all the universes.

I don't read a lot of Christian fiction, but this is what I imagine to be a brilliant example of the genre. Well-written, with a plot that highlights the apathy and sins of man, as well as their potential for good, and the far spanning reaches of this goodness. The author includes figures from other religions, legends, and beliefs in a well-handled manner. It is a book that will make you think, and even reflect on your own attitudes and actions. The author shows great imagination with the alteration of creation myths to encompass multiple planes and realms, each different and unique. The overall message, for me at least, was one of love, and the power even simple actions can generate in an outward ripple effect that touches everything around.

First and foremost, the writing is absolutely beautiful. It, alone, pulled me into the novel, but fascinating and highly imaginative world and plot certainly kept me going.

Simone is an ordinary mom of two boys and a loving wife who happens to also hear voices. Some taunt her, others are having normal conversations that she merely overhears. She's sure she's crazy, but her loving husband doesn't react as though it's true.

Then one day, Simone is visited by an angel and is told something she fears more than going crazy: she's sane. The voices are those of creatures in other dimensions, layered over-top of one another which creates a tapestry that fits perfectly together. All by That Which Is.

While this is a novel with deep-seated spiritual ideas and concepts, it isn't preachy at all. The author focuses on an idea of oneness and love, not on religion where a person has to perform certain tasks or take on a certain role. It shows and pushes unconditional love.

There is much I love about this novel, but there were also a few things that brought this down a star for me. The main issue was the overabundance of characters. With a novel about an epic battle between good and evil, there were a few characters killed along the way. Unfortunately, so many names were brought into the novel, characters in and out of the main focus, that I couldn't mourn any of them (save for one, a real heart-breaker near the end).

Another issue is that this novel could have easily been longer and more immersive if certain scenes had been expanded. For instance, there is a summary of "others" and legends introducing themselves to the world. There is very little concrete description of these creatures or what they said or how the audience at these introductions reacted. At least one or two should have have been shown in full-scene, providing the audience to feel the awe of the situation.

Aside from those two issues, this novel was pure pleasure. Below are some of my favorite lines:

His green eyes burned like emerald fire against the dark canvass of his skin.

[An angel to Simone] "My ability to intercede with man is limited. Can you build a tunnel for the ants? Even with all your strength and knowledge?"

Susan blushed to the very roots of her hair.

And there were so many more! I can't wait for this author's next novel.

This is one for my Must Read list!

Comiskey must have used the feather from an Angel's wings as a quill when writing this Paranormal Fantasy. The flow of the words are that smooth.

More Things In Heaven And Earth by E.A. Comiskey

God never give us more than we can handle. That phrase has been coined by many people over the years. Comiskey gives it new meaning in this novel.

Simone, the main character hears voices all around her and always has. She soon learns those voices are real and coming from from beyond her realm.

Because of her rare ability to hear, she is chosen as a "word of God" prophet. Her job is to save not only this world but all worlds created by That Which Is.

Comiskey brings a thought-provoking, fresh look at religious battles between Angels and Demons .Apathy in this version is a demon worshipped as a god by a vast majority of the creatures this world knows of as myths and legends.

I enjoyed the underlying message. It is very true - we don't always open our eyes. If we did we might see the rut of indifference man has succumbed to.

This novel is not a light read, however. There is a lot of information to take in and process. Readers will need a quiet time with no distractions to fully grasp everything.

I do have to mention that this is a highly religious piece of work and may not be for everyone.

4.5/5 stars!

Great Read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It turned out to be quite some story with a lot of imagination and creativity throughout. It was very hard to step away from and I ended giving in and ignoring all else. I loved the characters and their stories. I'm so glad to hear this author has written a continuation of sorts. This is a stand alone book and you will be glad to own it. I highly recommend this book and it's author, E.A. Comiskey! :)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! :)

This book is fabulous. I don't read a lot of books with a supernatural element in them, except maybe the occasional vampire, but this story is very well-crafted and accessible to everyone. There are creatures of myth and religion throughout who battle over control of Earth & all the realms. It is a battle of biblical proportions, without being preachy. The villain builds his power by feeding off something we are all guilty of every day. I can't tell you anymore, except that you should read this novel & I can't wait for the next one.

A fictional bible story about a prophetess who rises to lead a group of survivors when the veil between the realms breaks and the creatures of legend vampires, werewolves, demons, fairies and angels enter the human world. She endure heartbreaking loss and unimaginable sorrow to emerge into a world entirely new and much changed. A striking first book and one that resonates with a resounding message to love one another and do what you can to help everyone you meet and will I hope continue through many more books to come.

I really admire this writer's ambition...they blend so many interesting characters in this fantasy novel. It's very philosophical, talking about what happens when humanity must deal with many of the supernatural beings we've always dreamed and wondered about. There are spots where I thought there should have been more action and less talking but overall I would say this is an interesting, smart novel.

Captured me

I wasn’t quite sure what the genre of this book was when I began, and I still can’t say for sure now that I’m done. What I can say is it felt like it was written for me. Inspired by a love of God and satisfyingly contemporary all at once. In some ways it reminds me of the Twilight books, yet it is original in every way. I could easily see this made into a Netflix series - so many characters brought to life and a riveting adventure. Loved it, and I’m excited to jump right into book two!

The book is ‘More Things in Heaven and Earth’ by E. A. Comiskey; a mother who has heard voices all her life is suddenly approached by an angel who tells her the extent of her powers and the burden it carries. When I first read the blurb, if anything, I was intrigued. From page 1, there was something that drew me into the story. I have to say, the title is also something to think about; I liked the Shakespeare (Hamlet) reference!
The character of ‘Simone’ is very likeable. You really understand her struggles and her most intimate fears which made me connect with her quite quickly. The voices in her head are real; creatures in other dimensions speaking to her. Is this a gift, or a burden? I think her character development throughout the story is really inspiring; I don’t necessarily think she became stronger, I believe that she always had an ‘inner strength’ (she never thought she had to use) and that she was stronger than she first believed. She is very honest with the reader and the fact that she is also a mum who has a number of priorities, one of them being unconditional love for her family, makes her a relatable character. Without spoiling the story, her battle with courage and bravery, burden vs duty, is also one I admire.
I believe the characters (even the secondary ones) are interesting. At times, there were quite a number of characters to keep track of, but the ‘main plot’ characters were very well thought out. Although portrayed through Simone’s point of view, her language and thought process create an unbiased view of the characters where you can come up with your own opinion of them. There is a rather interesting character she interacts with; you get an instant opinion of them which may or may not change throughout the novel depending on perspectives but… I won’t spoil the plot! Sorry! Additionally, there are creatures of supernatural, mythical and legendary origin. I really enjoyed how the story flowed from the seemingly ordinary world to one where all these beings are real… this book really does have everything!
Another thing I enjoyed about the book is that it’s very thought provoking. Although fitting in with the genre of ‘Christian fiction’, I do believe that the philosophies and concepts are interesting even to those who wouldn’t call themselves religious. I always enjoy books which make you think more deeply and this book was no exception. The plot is full of interesting ideologies and discussions, without them being forced.
That’s another thing; this book isn’t preachy or forceful in any way. Comiskey focuses on the idea of love and strength rather than religion, which I think is something we can all relate to. It is beautifully written and a mesmerising read. It’s unlike anything else I’ve read!

Amazing! This book has the potential to restore one's faith! Ms. Comiskey's writing style is superb in every way, having a clear understanding of the human condition and mastery over the use of creative language when using First Person POV. The paragraphs flowed with ease and reading the words on the page was the equivalent to fresh air for avid readers!

I thoroughly enjoyed the character development throughout the book. Though the story is in First Person, you can still connect with any of the characters that interact with the protagonist as the author does well with describing facial expressions, body language and other universally emotional human reactions.

With one of the central themes appearing at first to be good vs. evil, you'd think that the suspense (also done very well), is building toward an epic battle of sorts, but as we continue reading we find that faith and hope are the keys to survival in this darkening world, and the surprising direction the author takes is refreshing.

On a final note, I find it incredible how the author finds a way to tie in all manners and beings of multiple myths and legends into one story without dealing with the challenge of discordance or "cluttter." The Norse goddess Freyja is sitting at the dinner table with the Greek god Hermes and an archangel of the Lord, while vampires, werewolves, fairies, and orcs are choosing where their loyalties lie...and it all seems to work! Amazingly creative and imaginative!

I would recommend this story to anyone, regardless of their personal choice of religion.

This is a marvelous read with much to take in. My life is crazy and it has admittedly been a struggle to take time and read, but reading this book brought some things into the perspective. I had to slow it down to read this book and rightly so, it is not only an imaginative book with well-developed characters but it says things about the world today. Apathy, a character that rings true, really shone a light on the world in the book but also around us.
This is a book with a little more religious background than I would normally read. Comisky balances this well with the story. This is a unique story bringing the reader to question the possibility of other realms and does it in a creative way. Showcasing a theme of love but also giving us some sadness along the way, we are immersed into a classic battle between good and evil.
I definitely rate this in the must read category!

An epic battle between good and evil told by an author who knows how to grip readers from the first page. The writing is flawless and the characters are well written. Simone has been hearing voices all her life and when she is visited by an angel, her normal life as a mom of two boys takes a dramatic turn. This book is filled with emotion, struggles, and never ending faith. I loved Simone's character. She was strong, but also very believable. I found myself hoping that she would survive to fight the evil that plagued her world and that she was strong enough to battle the internal war she faced. This paranormal fantasy although based on religion is a brilliant read and I can't wait to see what happens in book 2. This is definitely an author to watch.

This book wasn't what I expected it to be but in a good way. Since I didn't think that this novel would hook me the way it did.
I never would have imagined that the combination of supernatural and biblical topics would interest me as much as I would've thought. But it did! I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this.

***I received this as a part of Goodreads First Reads***
I really enjoyed the spiritual themes of this book, as they were not too preachy nor did they take over the story. Despite that, I did get lost a couple of times through the storyline. Yet, I won't blame that on anyone else but myself, due to the fact that I normally do not read books like these. However, if you enjoy supernatural themes, I think you would enjoy it.
