She made me wish I was a man and not a priest.

I've come to find that I have a priest fetish.

So of course I had to check this out.

This was a very quick read and I think this was executed and written well.

The story was very sweet and I did like it.
It's so hard to judge novellas. Based on their length, you either find that you need so much more, or you feel things were rushed.

In Peru, Father Charles meets Ava, who is with Doctors Without Borders and sparks fly. After some time together they develop a relationship. When Charles leaves, the two won't meet again for six years.

It definitely had the taboo aspect, which I commend the author. He was actually a priest, and not just about to become one. I was just surprised how fast he gave into temptation.
"If what I feel for you is a sin, then let me be damned."

I think my main reason for just thinking this was an okay read for me, was the sweet factor. I don't do sweet. The story was good, it just didn't satisfy my personal taste. I would recommend if you like a taboo story with a HEA.

~ May contain spoilers ~

♦️BOOK: Standalone. Novella length. Kindle loc: 1700

♦️WRITING: good - a few inconsistencies

♦️EDITING: some errors found - missing punctuation & incorrect words

♦️POV: dual first person

♦️SETTING: small village in Peru / New Jersey

♦️HERO: Father Charles McArthur, 28-- Priest. In Peru for 3 months to help start and build a parish. He's tall and hot with dark hair, pale blue eyes, close-cropped beard.

♦️HEROINE: Ava Abrams, 25-- Doctor. In Peru as part of Doctors Without Borders. She's smart, funny, short, with long dark hair, brown eyes.

♦️PLOT: Takes place between 6 years ago and the present. Charles & Ava meet in Peru and share an instant connection/attraction to each other. Though they work together and become friends, Ava is a temptation that Charles hasn't felt in the past 5 years. His vow of celibacy isn't something he has struggled with whatsoever, until meeting her. After giving in to temptation, Charles has to choose between the woman he loves and his calling as a priest. Though heartbroken, but not wanting to be his regret or second choice, Ava lets Charles go when he decides to return home and says goodbye. She surprises him when she seeks him out six years later.

"Hell has to be a better option than spending the rest of my life unable to be with you.”

Another Priest romance story gone terribly bad. But this one wasn't a complete loss. I don't know if this explanation will make sense, but this story had potential. It began as it should have. It progressed as it should have. But then, as always, the story derailed. It got ridiculous (sexually speaking mostly) and it stopped developing as it should have.
I don't understand how difficult can it be to write a story about a man who becomes a Priest who later in years finds a woman he loves more than his promise to God. The concept is taboo, I get that. But just because a concept is taboo doesn't have to make a story ridiculously unbelievable and so out of the norm of possibility that it borders on stupid.

So my search continues for a modern day romance story about a Priest who falls in love....

Wow. What a great book.

The beginning of the story was actually the middle of the end, if that makes sense. How often does a priest come out of a confessional box and kiss the woman who is confessing? It was a great hook.

This is the story of Ava and Charles. Ava is a doctor while Charles is a priest. They met in Peru while he was on a mission of sorts and she was a practicing physician with Doctors Without Borders. There is a mutual attraction, but Charles doesn't want to give up the priesthood. He leaves after a short while, making her promise to forget him and find someone who will love her. He is a priest. He is forbidden to fall in love with anybody and is sworn to a life of celibacy.

The story is steamy yet sweet. It was well-written and tastefully done while reminding us that priests are men, too. There is a nice twist at the end that concluded the story beautifully.

This book was so good. Incredibly good.

This was my first book from this author and I really liked it. As a matter of fact I have a little book hangover with this story. I felt it too short and I didn't want to ending it.

Ava and Charles meet each other in Peru as they're working in a remote place. They have a funny friendship, teasing with each other, the sexual tenssion always is present and then they've a torrid romance.

The only issue with this is Charles is a priess. This love story isn't going to be easy but it'll be sexy and lovely.

Grab your copy asap. It cost only 99 pennies

Ok

I really like taboo, forbidden romances. I was very much looking forward to diving into this book. It started off very well, I was quickly engrossed in the story. The problem for me came from the fact Charlie gave in to his desires so quickly. The story was ok & wrapped up nicely with a HEA but maybe it was a little too easy. Admittedly I don't like a lot of angst but this story coulda used a lil more of it.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book after reading the blurb. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself taken with Charles and Ava's love story. It's truly unconventional, but I'm sure happens more often than we think. For such a sensitive subject, it was told in a beautiful way.

It's true, you shouldn't have to choose between your faith and your heart. It should all be one in the same. People need one another, in different ways but celibacy and or isolation is not a substitute for your God's love or peace of mind. I'm glad that the characters found their way back to love and to God.

ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE !!!
Title: Sinned
Designation: A Priest Romance Standalone Novella, NO Cliffhanger
Author: Veronica Daye
My Rating: FIVE DIVINE STARS*****
WOW! This is my very first time reading Veronica Daye's work but it certainly won't be my last! Please pardon the pun, but Veronica Daye seems to certainly be "blessed" with an extraordinary gift as a master storyteller and in her latest sexy release, Sinned, she has demonstrated that she not only has an abundance of talent but knows how to use it and do it exceptionally well! I love it! This is a a very relaxing, enjoyable and easy to follow standalone novella which does include a wonderfully written happily-ever-after ending. The story is sweet, tender, sensual, arousing interesting and totally held my attention. Once I started reading, I quickly became completely immersed in the story and I wanted more. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the first person with alternating his and her points of view given by the two protagonists of the story which I believe adds to the depth and complexity of the story and definitely gives us a better understanding of the characters, their feelings and motivations. The story is exceptionally well crafted with the reader being given an introduction to the present in the first chapter and then flashing back to six years earlier giving the complete sequence of events as they unfold which gently leads the reader back to the current events as they are now happening. The dialogue is smart, well executed, easy to follow and flows effortlessly. And now for the best part, the characters. They are captivating, intriguing, engaging, relatable, at times humorous and sexy as sin. (Again, please pardon my pun!) The chemistry between the two lead characters is convincing and almost palpable. Quite simply, it is off the charts hot! I found myself actually cheering for these two unlikely lovers. Daye skillfully crafts these elements into a divinely entertaining contemporary romance with a twist. I would like to add, if you object to mature subject matter and explicit sexual situations then this is probably not the book for you, but if you love an exquisitely written forbidden romance with a sharp edge filled to the brim with passion, raw emotion, powerful characters, heartbreaking angst, steamy dreamy sex and a wonderfully written, heartwarming, happily-ever-after ending, then this is definitely the read for you!

Twenty eight year old Charlie McArthur has devoted the last nine years of his life into becoming the man he is today - Father Charles McArthur - and the last five of which he has been completely celibate. He left temptation behind once he graduated college and has chosen to love all mankind and to serve only God and the Church. He is no longer tempted by the pleasures of the flesh. He has taken his vows and has not once regretted his decision - until now. After traveling to work in a remote area in Peru, Father Charles finally discovers how it truly feels to love another as much as he loves the church. But will his faith be strong enough to resist the beautiful Ava Abrams? Does he even want to resist?
Twenty five year old Ava Abrams is a doctor working in a remote area of Peru with Doctors Without Borders. She was home schooled throughout her entire childhood and as a result, has found it difficult to make friends or maintain any sort of personal relationships. She's never really felt the need nor the desire until now - until she meets Charles McArthur, the charming young priest who has just arrived in the village where her clinic is located. Ava was raised a Catholic but has never been particularly religious herself. She knows the thoughts and feelings she has for Father Charles are definitely sinful. Oh my! He is one delicious hottie with gorgeous blue eyes and a body to die for - not literally, of course. But her sinful thoughts don't stop her from developing a friendship with the handsome young cleric. The problem only begins when she finds herself wanting so much more than just a casual friendship and the real dilemma begins when Father Charles appears to want more from her as well. Should she succumb to her desires and enjoy more than just a friendship with Father Charles? Will it just be a wonderful few months and nothing else? Or will the love felt by two lonely souls destroy both their lives and leave a permanent painful reminder in their hearts of how it feels to love, to have love and then lose love forever? Beautiful, intelligent and lonely doctor in search of acceptance and friendship-check! Handsome, kindhearted and dedicated priest trying to serve God and help the world-check! A sweet, tender, sensitively written forbidden love story with unexpected consequences-check! That and a whole lot more! Deliciously sweet, seriously sexy and delightfully entertaining! Well done Veronica Daye!

My oh my.

Oh Lord have mercy on my soul, I loved this book. Now, I’m not one to read a taboo romance, I could careless for them but this book I devoured it in one sitting.

I don’t even know where to begin, my head is spinning with Charles and Ava. I didn’t know what I was getting into upon reading this book, but it was honestly such a sweet story. Okay, so now gathering my thoughts, Sinned was about Charlie and Ava. It’s written in first POV with two different POV, Charles and Ava. We get a glimpse of the present, then we are taken to the past. The alternating POV, I didn’t mind it all. It helped the reader to fully understand both of the characters.

As I digress, Charles was a priest and Ava a doctor. They meet in a church and from that point on, they connect. They have great conversations, a lot in common and both have a mutual physical attraction for each other. Ava doesn’t hide her feelings and attraction but poor Charlie, he’s trying his hardest to control himself.

One thing leads to another and then they’re on this road trip together and a storm brews in the distance forcing them to pull over and stay at a hotel. Charles and Ava spend the night talking and enjoying each other, a night that neither of them will forget. Nothing sexy happens at the hotel but they connect on a sinfully amazing level.

This story was sweet and sexy. It was sensual, forbidden, tender and very intriguing. Charles and Ava were believable characters and the author wrote the story as if it could happen in real life. Like I could see real people going through what they had.

I was heart-broken when Ava was broken. I could feel the tender pain gnawing at Charles heart when he had to leave and let me tell you I didn’t expect the ending. It was a surprise that brought a smile to my face, a surprise that warmed my heart, a surprise that also made me feel sad for Ava because she had to go through that alone. But nonetheless everything worked out.

I would definitely read more books from this author.

This was a beautiful take on the forbidden romance. It moved me and it was naughty. Loved the MC in the story – Charlie & Ava . Their love story is forbidden yet it is true love. You ask why forbidden—well When they met Charlie was 28 yo and was living in Peru, working in the remote areas, and he was finally doing what he needed to do to fulfill his true life mission –to be a priest. He has taken vows and has been completely celibate for the last 5 years. Until now-until he met her---Twenty five year old Ava Abrams is working with Doctors Without Borders in the remote regions of Peru and she comes across Father Charles McArthur who is very handsome and has a wonderful way about him. The two instantly click and there is a chemistry between them. Ava was raised Catholic but she never really was raised in the church. The two start to bond and develop a close friendship. Soon, that close friendship is not something Ava wants-she wants more than that and Charles doesn’t know if he can quit being a priest. After a mind blowing sexual experience, Ava lets Charles go and then a life changing experience happens to Ava—will she ever tell Charles or will these two be like ships passing in the night? Will Charlie ever want to give up the collar and be the one for Ava? This story was so good, I hated to put it down and the ending was so satisfying. It was deliciously sweet and tasty. Charlie was such a sensitive hero –he didn’t want to do anything to hurt anyone. In reading this story, he tried to do right by everyone , but he never thought about himself .And Ava, wow, she is sassy yet all protective over her loved ones.; just get the tissues handy because there are some scenes that will make you tear up in a good way.
We , as the readers, get to see their story in alternating POV first person flashback and in real time. It helps to see what the MC are feeling/thinking.

This is the first book I’ve read that is based on a priest, and holy crap was it ever good! I had a really difficult time resisting my iPhone’s kindle app while at work! I just wanted to splurge through the pages!

This story was creative from the start! I loved the story line of a priest and a doctor meeting on mission trips to Peru and falling for each other. The resistance Charlie tried to hold onto had to have been painful. Hearing his thoughts and watching his struggles kept my eyes glued to the page. It wasn't much easier for Ava, either. Attempting to accept the fact that the man she was falling for was supposed to be permanently unavailable couldn't have been easy. It was so thrilling to read when they finally caved in to their desires! The steamy scenes were great with the detail used!

I wish the book would've been longer. I would've definitely been okay if their time in Peru had more to it, especially if more steamy scenes would have been included. The end felt a bit rushed, so I would've liked to have seen that extended, as well.

Spoiler:

At the 6 year time point, I thought Charlie gave in too quickly. I loved the resistance that was shown back in Peru. I was hoping to see more of it.

I thought the end had too much of a plot for a small amount of space. With the reunion, a child being thrown into the mix, and Charlie leaving the church, I think it would've been better had it been extended.

This is my first book by Veronica Daye and it definitely will not be my last. The author’s writing is flawless and kept me captivated throughout the story of Father Charles and Ava.

I am sure from the title and synopsis of this book you may already know what this book is about. This book is about a sinfully hot Priest,Father Charles MacArthur, who meets Dr. Ava Abrams during their time volunteering in Peru. There is an instant attraction between Ava and Father Charles. They want to fight it as hard as they can because they know in the end it will not work out. Since Father Charles has taken a vow of celibacy and is devoted to the church he knows the relationship with Ava could only be a friendship. Ava also knows of his devotion to God and the church and it will never workout between them. When Father Charles and Ava surrender to their needs and desires it's created a steamy scenes that are in great detail.

I will have to admit being a religious person, I almost felt bad reading this book! Haha it was such a hot forbidden book that I couldn’t stop reading!! I mean how forbidden can we get… a Priest breaking his vow of celibacy! Read this book, if you are in a mood for a quick read and a steamy forbidden love story.

Sin and love can be inextricably linked, and as a reader of romance they both appeal to me big time.
What if a woman falls in love with the perfect man for her, but he's a priest? When that kind of theme appears in a book, I have to read it ;o)

Mind you, this is not a long novel, it's more a novella. It could have been more developed, more dramatic, yes, but it's still worth reading. What I liked most about it is a couple of things. First, that Ava is a doctor and she meets Father Charles in Peru while both are helping the locals in health and spiritual matters. They connect at once while a forbidden attraction also boils beneath the surface. Another thing I really liked is that when the inevitable separation occurs, it leads to a life of experiences, second chances and true happiness in the end.

The writing is fine, there are a few steamy scenes that add a spicy flavour to the forbidden theme, and there's a surprise thrown in the lot too. I understood the characters' feelings and decisions, even though I'd have preferred some more emotional agony at the end, it also made sense how they'd changed their minds and come to realize what they truly needed in the lives. It's a good story to read in this sub-genre, so I recommend you give it a try.

*possible spoilers*

Charles is a priest that took a vow of celibacy and loyalty to the church. he never figured his faith and temptation would be tested when he agreed to go overseas to help start up a new church. everything he vowed and cherished came into question the moment he walked in and met the beautiful new doctor. Ava was so drawn to the priest, but she knew deep down she would always be his second love as the church was his first.

the two of them grew closer and closer and one night their passion for each other couldnt be denied any longer, but one night wasnt enough.

Charles knew he needed to leave, and that leaving left Ava heartbroken until 6 years later whens he comes knocking at his door again cause she just couldnt forget him. But Ava has a secret. Will this secret tear them apart? Will they rekindle their love for each other? That you will have to read to find out.

I did enjoy this book but i wish it was a little longer. It was a very quick read for me but i loved that it was different than some of the others in the sense that for once the guy wasnt a jerk and they just honestly fell for each other despite all odds.

I was so nicely provided with an arc of this book, in exchange for my honest review, and I could not be happier.

Charles McArthur got the call to serve in the priesthood. Father Charles answered that call with his whole heart, mind, body and soul.

Ava Abrams too had been called to serve, and she served those who otherwise could not get the healthcare they so desperately needed.

Charles and Ava find themselves in service, in the same place. A man whose woman is the Church. A woman whose forbidden desire is for a man she can't and shouldn't have.

With very few exceptions, forbidden romances are some of my favorite reads. This book is now one of my favorites. Good things come in small packages and Veronica Daye's Sinned is packed with goodness. Given how compact Sinned is, the character development was really good. I got to know and fall in love with Charles and Ava in short amount of time reading. I wanted more and more and more. I loved their chemistry.

If you want a short, but very well written book. I highly recommend Sinned by Veronica Daye. Although it was was short, it was so good, page after page.

Five Stars just isn't enough!!!

Six years ago Charlie met Ava while helping to start a church in a remote area of Peru. He was immediately attracted to her and found himself feeling things he hadn't felt in years for a woman. Charlie is a priest who took a vow of celibacy and has devoted his life to the church. He knows the way he feels for Ava is wrong, but the draw is too strong. In the end, he knows that even though he has fallen in love with her, it can never work and he leaves.

Six years later, Ava has come to finally confront Charlie. She doesn't have any idea what his reaction will be, but she has never loved anyone else but him and has missed him terribly. They are both surprised by their reactions when they meet again.

This was a story of a forbidden love that was written in such a way that their falling in love felt nature and right. They are both very likeable characters and I enjoyed getting both of their POVs. It was a quick read with a happy ending.

This purchase also included two other books by this author, Stepbrother Bad Boy and Tease.

"Tell me, is it my looks or the fact that I'm unattainable and forbidden?"

Sinned is the first book I have read by Author Veronica Daye. It was a quick and fast taboo read that fulfilled my craving of the forbidden.

"I can't stop thinking about how soft your skin is and how much more of you I want to taste. I have to have you, but I can't."

Told in alternating first person point of views, Sinned was a story of finding a lasting love that needed no repentance. Ava and Charlie were great characters, both well-educated with vision and plans for the future. I loved Charlie's family dynamics; they were funny and frequently picked at one another, but they exuded family in every sense of the word. The unique plot and story line were refreshing. The author made no attempts to play off other books in this sub-genre, she had her own mind and story and executed it well. So happy to have been introduced to this author and book.

What a surprising story. Ava and Charles meet in Peru which Charles works to restore/revive a Catholic church, he is a Priest and Ava is there with Doctors without Borders to provide medical care. What neither of them expects is for the sparks to fly as the find out they get to know each other. Charles is tested, he believes and loves his calling to God, but Ava opens a world he never dreamed he would find. Will he act on his feelings? Ava is in love with Charles but truly respects his faith and profession. We get to experience the beauty of Ava and Charles romance along with the challenge of walking away to their re-connection six years later. This was beautiful, poignant, sexy, sweet and challenging. A wonderful representation of the depth of someone’s love.

Final Score - 4.5 Stars!

I just knew after the family dinner, Charlie aka Charles would be eating his words. And of course, then comes Ava on the scene. Their banter at first reminded me of Charlie's siblings and I started to doubt but of course, that was the point right?

I enjoyed the book but the epilogue was too quick for me. I would have liked to have seen more with Liam, just how difficult it was for Charlie & Ava in the end, and just how they explained it all to Christopher.

A quick and enjoyable read.

This is not my first "Priest" book. I enjoyed it although I did think it was rather short. I kept thinking things were happening super fast especially when I got to the Epilogue. With all that being said I felt like something was missing from the story. I did enjoy the story and I love HEAs. One of the things that bothered me was when they had sex in church. Being raised Catholic made that a little uncomfortable. I didn't have a problem with them having sex anywhere else but in that pew. I give it 3.5 stars out of 5.

Awesome story. Makes you believe in true love again.
Everyone can fall in love. When you meet the one you just know it. And you can never forget. Even a man who makes vows can find that one woman that changes his life forever. In this well written story you have just that, written in such a way that makes you believe anyone can find true love. Great storyline. Well written and extremely entertaining to read.

Wow, what a fantastic story. Ava and Charles have an amazing heart wrenching love story. The guilt of being who you thing you should be over shadows what your heart wants.
Charles is torn between the church and his obligations and Ava is torn between her feelings and being second to Charles's struggle with the church. Be prepared to cry have Kleenex ready and fall in love. Its a wonderful heartache with a HEA.

UNIQUE
I wasn't sure I would enjoy this book because of the priest factor, but I really did enjoy it. I especially enjoyed the dual points of view. This story is about Ana and Charlie and was very unique. I loved the chemistry between these two. My only complaint was it was too short. I wanted more. I received this book as a gift for an honest review. Patsy Sacco
