A. E. Murphy is the Queen of sarcasm and satire, she likes long walks in the park, as much as ice cubes like to chill in a roasting oven.
She’s effortlessly independent and so good at adulting it’s unfair on the rest of the world. She only napped twice today and has only avoided the dishes for three days before making the child slaves do them this morning.
Winning!
Her favourite hobby is writing, her worst hobby is reading through that writing.
Also she has two cats that carry toys to the top of the stairs and drop them down so they can chase them. They do this repeatedly in the middle of the night.
Who cares if she has work the next morning?
Not the cats, that’s for sure.
And if it’s not the cats doing the waking, it’s the toddler crawling into bed with her and pulling individual hairs from her scalp with pudgy little fingers for comfort.
This is likely why she’s in a constant state of grump unless there’s chocolate and coffee.
P.S. Please leave feedback, if not on the book then on this ridiculous bio she wrote herself. It’s the least you can do seeing as she’ll forever talk in the third person now.
Alex loves her readers. Alex says thank you. Alex smiles.

I promise you that I will get the final installment out as soon as I can but as a bonus,
Distraction is totally FREE for the next 5 days so please tell your friends <3 (17th until 21st September 2015) and I've put all of my books onto KU (Kindle Unlimited), not including Connected as that book is ineligible to join Kindle Select.

Warning:spoilers ahead

I would have rated this book higher if it weren't for just how badly Isaac treated Elle towards the end of the book. I could have dealt with the lying and the gambling but in the end he really didn't give a fuck up about her. He constantly had thoughts about how he gave up everything for her and wondering if she was worth it.

I would have forgiven the horrible behavior and the lying had his behavior been on account of his addiction. Unfortunately, he still had these thoughts when he was sober. He seemed more interested in getting his debt paid off by her father and going back to his old stress free life than redeeming himself over how absolutely horrible he was to his wife.

I love a good angsty story where the hero grovels and redeems himself. Unfortunately, by the end of the book I was no longer interested or believed he was redeemable. He was a pathetic miserable excuse for a man and the heroine who was only 18 was wise beyond her years. She deserved better.

Eloise is now at Cambridge and Isaac no longer has his teaching job. He takes a job working for Eloise's father so he can keep up the mortgage payments on the run down house he has bought for him and Eloise. I found the first half of the book a bit slow and of course Isaac and Eloise are apart although they still manage to see each other every few weeks but the book picks up in the second half.

Isaac is struggling. He's struggling with money, he's struggling with his jealousy over Eloise's other life at University and his mother continues to go downhill with alzheimers. As time goes on, Isaac and Eloise are arguing more and more but although Eloise is only 18, it's actually her who is the mature one in the relationship. Isaac mentions a few times how much he has given up to be with Eloise and of course he is right but his immaturity shows a lot and it's Eloise who seems to fight for the relationship. They go through a lot and the outome is not great.

The concluding book, Distinction, should release in February 2016. The author posted a teaser on her Facebook page which now has me looking forward to what happens seeing as the teaser takes place 4 years later. As usual, the author writes in a realistic way which makes Isaac and Eloise's story feel very real.

*****SPOILERS*****

Oh the heartbreak!

And the cliffhanger!

-sniffles-

This novel is perfectly titled. . . DESTRUCTION!

Book two of Isaac and Elle's story ripped my heart out!

It picks up right where book one left off, with Isaac proposing to Elle and then eloping in Paris. Now they are back in the real world except now they are married and everything has changed. And they quickly realize how hard life is going to be and the challenges they have to deal with, especially when their friends, family, and the entire world is upset about their relationship.

When they get back Isaac has already purchased them a home, a fixer-upper, so that Elle can fix it how she likes. Isaac is jobless (since he quit teaching due to him and Elle coming out as a couple) and has to resort to working for Elle's evil father. And Elle only gets to spend a week or so in her new home with her new husband before she has to leave for college- far away. Isaac has to stay in their hometown to help take care of his mother.

Their plan? Having a long distance relationship of course. Isaac is going to work, fix the house, play Susie homemaker, deal with everyone in the town calling him a pervert and saying awful crap about him and Elle because he married his student, and has all the stress and responsibilities on his shoulders while Elle goes off to college and lives a totally separate life, with rare visits every few months.

Yeahhhhhh. . . . like that's going to work.

AHHHHHH! Isaac and Elle BOTH drove me crazy! Seriously. He was a good husband. . . until shit got hard. And Elle was a good wife. . . until she wasn't. Wait. . . . was she EVER??

First off, Elle is too immature to be a wife. Isaac had to deal with the reality of their situation while she lived it up at college. Not that she was out parting all the time and stuff, but just that she didn't have to worry about bills and a house crumbling around her. And why Isaac is getting verbally abused by Elle's father, working overtime at a job he hates, Elle is only worried about why Isaac isn't comfortable with her partying.

I honestly didn't blame Isaac for turning to alcohol and eventually gambling. He had to deal with a lot of shit why constantly stressed over whether his wife is in danger or drunk at a party surrounded by horny young guys. Not to mention he has to slowly watch his mother's mind disappear and her slowly die.

Elle even has the audacity to say she feels smothered by Isaac. . . though they NEVER see each other. She wants to go out and party and live like a college kid, she doesn't want to check-in with Isaac and miss out on things. And as she continues to work, go to school, and miss out on parting with her friends. . . she starts to resent Isaac. And Isaac is working his ass off and suffering and it's ALL for Elle and his wife isn't even around. . . they barely see each other and only share a few calls and texts half the time.

As they drift further apart, stress and depression sink into Isaac, Elle continues to separate her two lives all the while resentment slowly creeps in, and outside people try to tear them apart, their marriage starts to slowly deteriorate.

But I will give points to Elle. She tried to fight for their marriage, especially towards the end. She tried to get Isaac to open up. She trusted him and she didn't even know how bad it got back home. She just didn't try hard enough. She tried to help Isaac but with her living far away living her life at college, there was only so much she could do. And with all the evidence against him, she could only believe what she had in front of her.

Then that ending. When Isaac can't take no more and Elle FINALLY realizes shit isn't rosy back home and her husband -gasp- needs his wife! But it's too late. . .

Their love can't even fix it.

-sniffles-

Damn you Elle.

And Damn you even more Isaac for doing what you did and not confiding in your wife!

I personally found fault in both Elle and Isaac. One minute I'm angry at Isaac and I'm all Team Elle, then I'm pissed and frustrated with Elle and I'm all Team Isaac. . . they both just drove me crazy!

But the story was told wonderfully! And the writing was fantastic as always. This is a fantastic series and is definitely on my top shelf. Now I'm dying to get into book three because right now my heart hurts and I NEED more Isaac and Elle. . . . NEED. IT.

Highly recommend! (But read book one first!)

I was super excited for the release of this book having the first book as part of my favorite books of this year. However I was left bored with the banter of a storyline and found the path of the characters predictable and too immature for my liking. No spoiler here....but nothing happened in this book for me. I am hopeful the author takes her time with the next book, though I am not sure I would be back to read.

Oh no

Please release the next book now. I am dying here. I cannot wait till the next book comes out. I had a feeling of what was going to happen and my heart went out to both Isaac and Elle. We will just have to wait.

Upon completing the book, I wasn't sure if I liked the direction Elle and Isac's relationship took. Don't get me wrong, the storyline was captivating and held my interest in its entirety, but i just wasn't certain if I wanted to continue following their story inn a third novel. Nevertheless, after much thought and reflection, I think the chain of events completely complied with Elle's and Isac's choices. The age difference, the abrupt marriage, and the family's opposition to the relationship/marriage, together, were perfect contributors to disaster- a disaster I'm anxious to see remediated. So many scenarios come to mind on how the relationship can be repaired, but I'm sure none will compare to Ms. Murphy's creative and brilliant conclusion to this trilogy. Anxiously awaiting for Part III!

A.E. Murphy has an amazing ability to create characters that you care about, love and want to throttle all at the same time. With Destruction she has taken the characters from Distraction and removed them from their 'safe' bubble and introduced them to the real world. A wonderful yet sometimes heartbreaking read.

*spoilerish*

This book broke my heart at the end. You could sense where things were headed, but you still hoped Issac would get it together. Not only did he not get it together but he made it ten times worse in his treatment of Elle. I just hope their marriage can be salvaged. On to book 3.

Wow.. this story was one emotional bumpy filled rollercoaster of a read that leaves you wanting to cry and shout/scream at both characters in this book!
So we met Isaac and Eloise in book 1.. that was just the start of their crazy journey!
These guys haven't had it easy from meeting.. they have a relationship that is frowned upon and is "wrong" to most people but that didn't stop them and their strong love but what happens when they are living apart and leading separate lives?? I'll tell you what! Lack of trust.. lack of communication.. and lack of support leaving you with one big giant back and forth that leaves your heart strings being pulled along the way.
There was some points that I so wanted to give Isaac a good shake and remind him he was the grown up of the couple!
Fab edition to this series and ready to jump into book 3 asap!

This was a DNF for me. I loved the first book in the series and this book was a major let down. Issac was a horrible person in this book. I got to 62% and started debating on if I could finish, so I decided to read some reviews from this book and the next. Sad to say I decided not to waste anymore time.

From the reviews I read I found out he only gets worse throughout this book and they break up then the next book is them both being horrible 4 years in the future after they haven’t spoken to each other in 4 years. and they finally get a HEA at the very end of the last book with a sweet epilogue. I’m all for angst in books but he went from being such a sweet, loving guy to a whiny, cruel & jealous fool.

This book pick up directly after the first one begins, and I couldn't wait to delve into this and find out more about this couple! The book was fantastic and dealt with some real issues including gambling addiction and also the stresses of a long distance relationship.
My heart broke at the end, and I had to delve into the next one right away!
Loving this series!

Wow! This book was hard on the emotions. We have Isaac is falling apart with Elle at school, and his pride is making it worse. Elle’s Dad is trying to come between them. With Isaac finally surrendering to the pressure her dad is putting on him. I can’t wait to see how it ends!

This book hurt to read. It was full of real life in the worst way. Mistakes...lies...regrets. I think the only reason I could finish it, is because I'm so excited to get to the 3rd and final book of this trilogy. The writing was amazing. And as much as it hurt, this love story was still special and moving. Just oh so devastating. I need to start book 3 ASAP...just so I can breath for these characters again. Too much pain. I need the warm and fuzzy's quick!

Gah, loved this book. It's the kind of book that rips your heart out and you have to keep reading because you are like, oh my gosh, I love you two characters, you two have to make this work! Just watching real life batter them left and right. It was all so real and visceral and I. Could. Not. Stop. Reading. And on to the next one!

Tough read. I just can't... What a book... Damn... I don't know what I think, what I feel... I'm just... Speechless. Very VERY emotional part. Frustrating and ugly and beautiful... Just how we humans are. I liked it a lot. Pure destruction.
