Gerard Francis Conway (Gerard F. Conway) was an American writer of comic books and television shows. He was known for co-creating the Marvel Comics' vigilante the Punisher and scripting the death of the character Gwen Stacy during his long run on The Amazing Spider-Man. At DC Comics, he was known for co-creating the superhero Firestorm and others, and for writing the Justice League of America for eight years. Conway wrote the first major, modern-day intercompany crossover, Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man.

On April 27, 2026, Marvel Comics announced on its website and social media accounts that Conway had died at the age of 73.

[Little Timmy]

Daredevil was a hero I always felt kinda sorry for. He was definitely 2nd string in the Marvel Comics Universe and about as tragic as a old time Greek hero of legend. Seems he struggled more than Spider-man to find his way and always seemed to have something happening to him, his love life, his business, even his secret ID gets compromised. These collected stories are still in the early days of his career so he is not quite as beaten down as a hero. Good art and reads. Recommended

The Gene Colan art gets it to four stars. I'm just sad that there's only one piece of scanned original artwork included...grand work there from Colan and Palmer.

Not a fan of DD out of Hells Kichen, but these stories are good for Black Widow and DDs relationship. Too bad the majority of them revolve around villains from NYC. The Dran was new though. Decent story. Danny French was a cool character walking the line of bad/good.

Gene Colon of course did brilliant work (glad they admitted their mistake of Coit Tower). Gerry Conway's writing of Widow was kind of NOT her so much, but give him credit for fighting for her character's right to be a strong independent superhero, even if in love with a protective guy like DD.

Daredevil moves to San Francisco with the Black Widow which leaves lots of New York plot threads unresolved but Natasha makes the title a little more interesting. It’s odd that all DD’s adversaries so far have followed him to San Francisco (or got there before him) and Natasha has to put up with being called “little lady” a few too many times.

Another solid Daredevil masterworks and this covers a lot of him and Black Widow sharing the title. Enjoy the new villains and setting but miss the New York characters and city.
