Ace was the gateway to a freedom I hadn’t known since I was fifteen. He offered his protection from the demons that haunted me; both living and dead.
Although I knew I wasn’t enough to keep him, this didn’t deter my hope that one day he’d love me for who I was, not the broken girl he tried so desperately to save.
In the end, the ghosts of my past found me. Their malevolence knew no bounds, and I was forced to succumb to their will of darkness. Each threat named against those I loved made any escape impossible; choosing my life for theirs became my desolate absolution.
Inevitably, it was my own weakness and self-doubt that became my undoing.

Emotional ties are sometimes severed. Friendships don’t always endure their hardships, and love offered isn’t always returned.
I was in love once. For me, leaving her and my previous motorcycle club back in Ohio was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. For her, moving on with her life that included her son and the man she loved was no less than she deserved -- unconditional happiness.
My reasons to bring Cherry home to California were obvious. I needed help with my family, and she needed help staying clean and convincing her parents she was ready to give her son the life he deserved.
It was a perfect plan. However, the best laid plans often get lost amidst their best intentions.
Cherry fell in love with me, and in return my love for her acted as the catalyst to her destruction.
Hayden's Verse:
I'm known to my friends as a player; a user of women.
Lacey Wells walked into my life and ruined it. Although not in the traditional
sense, we made the decision to be 'exclusive'. We used each other to satisfy
our bodies' want of lust and attraction. And we had this...for a time.
When uncontrollable events altered the arrangement and life as we knew it had
fallen to circumstance, my reactions weren't only punishing, they were painful
and cruel. I pushed her away, causing her heartache, but in return, she refused
to break. Instead, she challenged my will at every turn. She was determined to
make me see the person I always was, but had never been.
Our path together was tumultuous and unforgiving. At times, it was full of
anger and resentment. But it was also fun and sometimes downright ridiculous.
There's no label to our story; tales of cliché pale in comparison. It just
happened. It was us. It was crazy and it was exactly what we made it.
Travis's Stand:

"I'd rather hurt you this way than watch you wake up one morning, after losing everyone in your life, because you think your love for me means more than your loyalty to them."
Sarah said this to me.

She said that, too.
Caught up in the inescapable pain of an unexpected loss, Sarah and I shared one unforgettable night together. The next morning, she made the decision to walk away from what could've been.

AC Bextor has written an outstanding series ~ The Devil's Despair Boxset had me gripped from Book 1 until the final epilogue in Book 3.
The stories are very emotional, full of drama, twists and turns. However each one is filled with love, hot steamy sexual scenes and passion.
Book 1
Ace & Cherry's (Rae's) story was brilliant. Ace is a serious caveman type alpha male but when he gives you his heart it is for life. He will protect his family and friends without a second thought.
Book 2
Hayden & Lacey, Hayden is the playboy the male whore of the group who goes through women without any regrets. Lacey comes into the group's life and Hayden is seeing thing differently and discovering things about his past that will change him forever.
Book 3
Travis & Sarah, this pair have been best friends forever Travis was always the one to look out for Sarah, calm and comfort her when things got to much. But people grow up and change and we start to see people if different ways. Will they remain best friends or become something more.

I am reading these books one after the other... Had read Ace's story a year or so ago and never continued, so re read Ace and loved it, was looking forward to Hayden's story and it was also very good, but I did not like the direction it took.. However, still a good read... Now onto Travis's story and within the first few chapters i am going down another direction that I dislike... If i did not think there would be a HEA i would give up on Travis, but i really want to find out his story so will have to put my dislikes aside.
Now that i have finished all 3 books I have to say.. I LOVED THEM. Even though i did not like the directions taken sometimes, i had to put that behind me and just enjoy the writting. The chemistry and sex was hot, the characters were all amazing and past books were incorporated into the next one, so could be read as stand alone, but much more enjoyable knowing the characters. Will be reading a lot more from this author.
Now that i have finished all 3 books I have to say.. I LOVED THEM. Even though i did not like the directions taken sometimes, i had to put that behind me and just enjoy the writting. Ace, Hayden and Travis were three wonderfully complex and sexy men on a mission...live life to the fullest with no regrets, protect the ones they loved and maybe one day find a woman to be theirs alone.
None of these boys had an easy road in life and together they formed a bond stronger than most blood family.
I absolutely loved this entire series and the complicated stories that surrounded each one of them individually as well as together as a group.
Music, women, family and the songs that life writes for them is an awesome adventure for us readers to go on and I enjoyed every second of it (even when I was crying or yelling at my kindle).
A wonderfully sexy, angst laden and fulfilling saga of families, both by blood and by choice.

I really like all three stories. Ace & Rae (Cherry)'s story was really good. It was great to have Lights of Peril Characters back again. Of all 3 men in these stories I have the most trouble with Ace - he flies off the handle big time - always and ends up apologizing because he takes time afterwards to realize what an asshat he is - gets old after a while. Yes he had a tough life and a helluva lot of responsibility but WHATEVER! Anyhoo, glad to see him and Rae finally get their shit together.
Hayden and Lacey was a good story. Lacey is hillarious and a good match for Hayden. These players usually fall and fall hard. Didn't like some of the things he said or did to Lacey but in the end he ended up being the biggest softie.
Trav and Sarah. Our brooding moody alpha and one crazy chick. I think we all knew what was going to eventually happen there. Good luck to them....lol.

Each book has a rollercoaster of emotions, angst and heartache in it but, for me, Ace & Cherry's story was definitely the most heartbreaking. All that she has gone through and what she does to try and protect those she loves really did go above and beyond.
Cherry, Lacey & Sarah are all extremely strong women each within their own rights and they have to be to be able to manage their men, Ace, Hayden & Travis, whether they be fighting to protect their man, to get their man or simply to prove to their man that they love them their strength never wavers.
An absolutely amazing set of books with some laughs, a LOT of sex and a LOT of tears too. FANTASTIC !!!

Ace and Raegan have to battle for their love for each other. I've enjoyed this story from the get go. I can't to read more.
I liked Lacey from the start. She's got a smart mouth that cracks me up. She puts Hayden in he's place and he needs someone like that. I enjoy the chemestry between Lacey & Hayden.
I loved Sarah frm the very start. She is mouthy and strong. Travis and her are perfect together.

Again this author out did themselves! This group of friends was a roller coaster of FUN to read!! I was heartbroken when an important member had to leave this group. That eventually lead to the final couple but it still hurt my heart. The final WONDERFUL outcome out ways my tender heart! I feel that the romance section could use a little more oomph for my tastes, but ultimately I must have enjoyed them. I loved the storyline either way though!

It was "OK" the time span between when I read the first three books than this three books I really did not remember the first three. So, the first one in this group was hard because, there was a lot of reference to the first story lines.
I was able to get more "into it" as it went a long and I think the very last one was my favorite of this three.

Amazing!
I loved this series about Ace, Rae and all their friends. I couldn't but this one down. I loved seeing how each guy found their soul mate.
