Good versus evil just got even more complicated. Being half-witch/half-demon and dating Marcus, a gargoyle and demon enemy, is complicated enough for Lucy. She can almost tolerate Jude, her demon father, forcing her to undergo combat training. But when Marcus's long-lost family returns to Chicago, her world begins to crumble. Marcus's mother wants him to leave to join the gargoyle clan; his father wants him to help kill Jude. There's one major problem with this: if Jude dies, Lucy dies. Marcus will do whatever it takes to save Lucy and her father. Meanwhile Lucy has her own plan and with the aid of a surprise newcomer, seeks help from the most unlikely-and dangerous-source.

Sadly this is a DNF at 31% for me. I really really liked the first book in the series, and was actually looking forward to the sequel. However, it has now been well over a year and a half since I read the first one, and I remember absolutely nothing about the plot. And to be honest, I really just don't feel like going and rereading the first one again to be able to catch up on the second.
It's actually a really good Ya paranormal series, it's got likeable characters, great world building and unique take on witches demons and gargoyles. It's well written, the only thing that bugged me was the use of "mundanes" to describe humans by paranormal creatures. Which anyone who has ever read a Cassandra Clare book will tell you that phrase is already in use in a YA paranormal romance series. Other than that, there is nothing wrong with the series, it's just not for me at this time.
Book Review- The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber
Lucy Walker has settled back into her life. She is still living with her uncles and being a nanny for Dylan’s brother and sister. Jude is trying to be an active father to her. She still doesn’t trust him. He is a demon after all. She has also been keeping an eye on Dylan to make sure his demon side doesn’t take over. Marcus has recovered from healing her after Seamus tried to kill her. They have grown closer. He is still trying to protect her. When his long lost mother shows up claiming she wants to be family, everything gets crazier than it already is. Marcus meets his father, Garret and learns the real reason his parents are here. They want help killing Jude. Garret almost kills Lucy because she is a demon and Jude’s daughter. Marcus is furious and hurt for the lies he was told. Lucy and Marcus are torn as what to do next. Lucy tries to protect Jude without telling him what is going on. She doesn’t want him to do the thing they claim he’s done and trying to punish him for. Lucy doesn’t know who to trust to help her. She goes for the big guns but ends up fighting for her life when Garret and his protectors attack her and Marcus at her school. After the dust settles, Lucy is not sure if things will be better after the threat disappears. The clan wants Marcus and Lucifer wants Jude. What is a girl to do? I like this series and was very excited to read the next installment to see what is new for Lucy, Marcus and Dylan. The story is intriguing and something new. The trio of main characters work well together. I had fun reading about all the things they faced and decisions they made. Poor Lucy is dramatic and stressed but who could blame her. She has a lot going on. Protecting those she loves and keeping in balance is tough. Her life is also a wee bit on the dangerous side. She has enemies she didn’t realize she had. Her father is demanding and evil at times. She doesn’t know what is happening to her half the time. Her boyfriend is a gargoyle, her best friend is part demon and she is learning to be a witch and a demon. Life is never boring and the story keeps you pulled in as it evolves. I give it a 4 out of 5.
I'm not scared to scream it from a rooftop with my hand on a gargoyle I'm in love with Jude. The first book of this series is one of my favorite books of the year and now that I've read the sequel I have a new favorite. You have conflicted teenage angst and a love triangle is the perfect recipe for a page turning series. The characters are evolvingand transforming. I liked the new characters which were introduced. I enjoyed watching Dylan the most this book. He is coming as complexed as Lucy. I plan and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Pauline Gruber is a master storyteller and I will read anything she writes.
In the 2nd Installment of Pauline Gruber's series, The Girl and the Gargoyle, Lucy and Marcus take us on a wild ride.
Those who've read Book 1, The Girl and the Raven, will be familiar with the main players, and we meet a few more along the way.
I enjoyed the evolution of relationships and the tests our main characters faced with the introduction of Marcus's birth family. Loved the parallels to be found.. even though this is a YA Paranormal setting, the same divisiveness/drama can be found in almost any family with teenagers.
Filled with adventure, hidden agendas; the ties of friendship and loyalty are tested!! A great read full of witches, demons and gargoyles, Good vs Evil.. but which side is the good, and which is evil? Questions that need answers keep the pages turning! Can't wait for Book 3!!
The Girl and the Gargoyle is the second book in The Girl and the Raven series by Pauline Gruber. As this is the second book in the series, and continues the story we started in Book One, I highly recommend reading the first book before embarking on this one. As with the first book, this is a very original YA paranormal story- with witches, gargoyles, demons, magic, good vs evil, danger, hidden agendas, romance, choices, friendship, alliances, and challenges- all wrapped up in a complex and multi-layered plot. After reading the first book there was no question that I would be diving into this one as soon as it hit my Kindle. I was curious to see where the story would lead- and I am happy to say that it didn’t disappoint! Bring on Book #3!
Honestly glad it took me this long to find this series. I would have gone nuts waiting for this book to come out! I dove right into this one after finishing the first book in the trilogy. So. Freaking. Good! Lucy didn’t skip a beat from book one to book two. She knows her father Jude, and exactly what he expected of her, and she’s dating a freaking gargoyle. So so hard to get anything done when all I wanted to do was read… I’m ready for book three!
The Girl and the Gargoyle was so good, I loved it! I don't know if I can do this book just with my review but I'll give it a go.
This book picks up sometime after the events in the first book, the Girl and the Raven. Lucy is still our main narrator but this time we hear from Dylan a few times, as well as a newcomer. Lucy is still her loveable self. She has is such a good person and cares about people, however in this one her demon-side is starting to come through a little.
Lucy's relationships with people are starting to get even more complicated that before, if you can believe that. Jude, her demon father, wants more of her time, it's just so adorable how much he loves her. Then there is the complications with Lucy and Dylan, her human-now-turned-demon friend, and their demonic hormones (see what I mean, complicated). Then there is all the trouble stirring between Lucy and her gargoyle boyfriend Marcus. He hates her father and wants to keep him away and his family swings into town caring a whole mess of gargoyle problems.
That however isn't even the tip of the ice-burg in the Titanic size problems Lucy's got. Seamus, you know the bad guy from the first book, well he is back and still hell-bent on getting Lucy. Then there is the little problem about Marcus's father wants to kill Jude and spoiler alert: if Jude dies so does Lucy. So that's two people who want her dead, one is a crafty sucker with a past history with Lucy and her family while the other has brought an army to town. Lucy is trying to find a way to save not only Jude but herself as well as keeping the people she loves safe, so what does she do she starts asking questions about her namesake, Lucifer.
The Girl and the Gargoyle had crazy relationship stuff, lot of fighting, murder plots, family issues, magic powers, lots and lots of death, shocking revelations, twist and turns and maybe a ouija board gets pulled out at some point.
This book had a plot that was so mind-blowingly good. I love the writing and the characters so much. Usually I am a slow reader, it's just how I roll but with this, I couldn't help but fly through the pages. The story sucked me in and didn't want to let me go. I can't wait to read the next book, The Girl and the Demon.
The Girl and the Gargoyle is the 2nd book in the Girl and the Raven series. Based in Chicago, the main character Lucy, is half witch and half demon. She leads a typical teen life, going to high school during the day, babysitting on weekends and hanging out at the mall with her friends. But here it gets complicated. Her relationship with her boyfriend Marcus, grows stronger as does her friendship with her friend Dylan. Conflict erupts between the two boys who also happen to be a gargoyle and a demon. Lucy’s father and neighbor are insisting she become competent in her witchcraft and demon powers. Seamus, the demon from book one, is still out there planning her demise and Lucy discovers he is not the only one who wants to see her perish.
The characters are developed in a way that you are able to connect with them. Action, twists and mystery will keep you turning the pages and of course, there is also romance. This is a YA book but it will keep adults captivated as well. I’m looking forward to reading book three, The Girl and the Demon!
Loved the book! This is book 2. The first book was The Girl and the Raven. I was so happy to see book 2 was finished. Just like book 1, the story held my attention from start to finish. It has lots of twists and turns that keep the pace of the book moving. I didn't want to put the book down until I finished reading the whole book. In addition to the main characters from the 1st book, (Lucy, Marcus, Dylan, Jude, Persephone, and Aiden), new characters are introduced that add exciting elements to the story. I highly recommend this book.
I was a great fan of the previous novel in the series, so needless to say I was super excited to read this installment. And seriously the first one was amazing, but this one did wonders just as much if not more! I was a die hard Twilight series fan in my teen years, but this one for me is even better of a paranormal teen series. I am getting great enjoyment from the series and watching Lucy grow and progress for her great destiny and learning more truth on who and what she is destined for.
The book takes off with our main characters trying to live life as their suppose to. Lucy and Jude have more a relationship than they used to, and Lucy is learning more about the truth of herself. I enjoyed seeing the father and daughter things with them grow and prosper. Though Lucy does not take his word lightly, and personally I do not blame her. Still, Jude is trying his best to earn his trust. In truth though, is there hidden reasons for why Jude is really needing and wanting his daughter's love so bad or is there more things underneath myself as the reader am not aware of yet? I felt as reading though, it probably is just a hunch, but Jude may be knowing something he isn't letting on? I could easily be way off.
And still I stand as Team Marcus. Marcus is a sweetheart, he may not be a ride or die bad boy as Dylan is. I enjoy their fondness for one another. Things take a unsuspected turn to say the least when the father of Marcus appears out out of the blue. Instantly I had trust issues. I was right. He had different goals then we would have thought as well as making sure Lucy is gone from this earth as to reason of her being Jude's daughter. His name of Garett. And his intentions were not truth as I mentioned, but truly set off a new course of events. Still, I enjoyed bringing him into this series. As I feel his introduction will set off a curve for the next installments in the series.
As things progress things get much harder Lucy. Things she believes in, as well as the words of those she cares about, becomes all too questionable. She had already been going through a lot, she needed her friends close for guidance as well as her protection, but when you cant even be sure of your own instinct of whom is deserving of your trust what is a girl to do?
Things take an expected turn towards a battle with Garett. This was a well written scene and lot of things happened. The light perhaps sort to say was seen at the end of the tunnel, or a realistic point with the battle with Garrett I know for a fact more questions may arise in the next novel, and I truly can not wait to read it. A girl has her Gargoyle and her Demon. With that said, with danger pretty much at every turn and constantly checking your back, are they really enough protect her? Or will they be her downfall?
I loved this book installment with a passion The author, she truly is a marvelous author. I am truly hooked on this series. I can not get my hands on the next book fast enough. Her writing always brings so much to the table. She wrote a wonderful first book in this series, and did wonders with this one. More with the dangers, the story line, what Lucy is destined for, as well new characters through out this novel that you really want to know more about. I also enjoyed reading of the characters of the previous book and seeing their growth a this one started up up until the final page.
Highly recommend this book and this series in general. Its interesting to say the least. It has great action and danger as well as character development which is very well done. All in all, its great series to lose yourself into. Trust me, I am not be part gargoyle, or demon, ( at least I don't think so) but this book has an aspect for everyone to enjoy who reads it! Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!
The Girl and the Gargoyle is book two in The Girl and The Raven series by Pauline Gruber. In book one, we were introduced to Lucy Walker. Lucy had just lost her mom and had moved in with her uncles in her grandmother's old house. We were also introduced to Lucy's neighbor Marcus and Lucy's high School friend Dylan. Lucy made the startling discovery that she was half-witch and half-demon. She also discovered her long lost father, who turned out to be a demon.
Book two quickly picks up where book one left off and does not disappoint throughout. This is another page turner as we learn more about Lucy. Lucy is now dating Marcus who happens to be a gargoyle. Lucy's father, Jude, is a demon. As much as Lucy wants to get to know her father, she does not love him or trust him. However, Jude forces her to spend time with him so he can train her in how to use her supernatural skills and abilities.
The love triangle between Lucy, Marcus and Dylan intensifies. Dylan is no longer trying to hide his emotions for Lucy and Lucy is finding it hard to resist the feelings that she is having for Dylan. Something that becomes even more challenging because they spend a great deal of time together training at Jude’s house. This creates tension and conflict between Lucy and Marcus. Lucy is head over heels in love with Marcus and doesn't want to lose what she has with him, so she tries to ignore her feelings for Dylan.
Marcus, who has grown up without a mother of his own, has his life suddenly thrown into a tailspin when his long-lost mother shows up. Marcus's mother, Camille, begs Marcus for forgiveness and tells him she wants to be part of his life. Lucy finds it difficult to believe that Camille's intentions are true and fears that she is there to hurt Marcus. Lucy also feels that Marcus might fall for his mother's lies and leave her. It isn't long before Marcus finds out his long-lost father is also back. When it comes to light that his father has come to Chicago with the intention of killing Lucy's father Jude the battle between good and evil intensifies. Lucy is conflicted and unsure who to trust and Lucy and Marcus find themselves pitted on opposite sides of the battle between good and evil. As if things aren’t bad enough, Lucy soon discovers that if Jude dies, then she will also die. Marcus vows to keep Lucy and her father's safe no matter what. Lucy wants to help so she tries to devise a plan to save not only Jude but herself and all her loved ones. In doing so, she calls in the most unlikely of allies.
The Girl and The Gargoyle did not disappoint from start to finish. It had everything a reader could be looking for. The book contained great characters and a supernatural world. I really enjoyed reading about Lucy and how her skills and strength developed and were honed throughout. We're also introduced to more characters while getting to know the main characters a lot better. It contained gargoyles, witches, demons, and protectors. Friendships were forged and friendships were broken. It was steeped in romance as the love triangle intensified between the three main characters. Families were reunited and families were torn apart. Alliances were formed and alliances were broken. The battle between good and evil raged on. I highly recommend book two and can't wait to start book 3, The Girl and The Demon!
Lucy Walker is back and her life is still settling down between her near death experiences and finding out she is half-witch and half-demon and dating a Gargoyle, how much more interesting does it need to be? However, one morning when she is rudely awoken in the early hours of the morning by her best friend texting her and telling her that she is the luckiest girl alive, she is in no mood for games in her sleep deprived state, but she is hoping that she didn’t see her and Marcus on the rooftop the night before, or how he returned her fast asleep to her bedroom later on. However, what she sees after reading it is even more disturbing, her father, Jude is standing in her room and demanding to meet her great-uncles and basically stonewalling her attempts to discourage it, but it is only when and her uncles ask about the car parked outside the house that her brain eventually catches up with what is going on, Jude has planned this all along and so she has no choice but to invite him in and when Marcus turns up at the same time, she has no choice but to have everyone there.
As breakfast is served and conversation haltingly proceeds, Marcus struggles to control his inner gargoyle and Jude tries to hypnotise her uncles, Lucy is torn between the two and tries to get the event over and done with as quickly as possible so they can continue with their days as normal, but when Marcus explains his real reason for coming, Lucy is disgusted and terrified at the prospect of what it means. A few days after the visit, Lucy is trying to convince her uncles that she is happy living with them and their current lives, what she can tell them of it all at least and that they have no worries about her running off with Jude any time soon, meanwhile, between her combat sessions with her dad, witchcraft lessons with her neighbour and babysitting for her friends siblings, Lucy and Marcus haven’t had much time to spend together and when Marcus’s mother suddenly turns up on their doorstep looking for him, Lucy is shocked to say the least.
When he asks Lucy to meet him on the roof later on, he looks miserable and Lucy has a feeling it is something to do with his mother and she was right, it turns out that she wants to reconnect, as does his father and they want him to go back to their home to meet the rest of the clan, so when he agrees to meet his father and wants Lucy to go with him, nervous as they both were, what happens while they are there and the truth behind their reason for visiting becomes clear, Marcus’s father want to kill Lucy’s and he will stop at nothing to do it, but the kicker is that if Jude dies, so will Lucy. Will they be able to keep both Jude and Lucy alive in between everything else, how will they do it and who can they call upon to help? As it becomes clear that danger is lurking around the corner, Lucy isn’t sure whether she can trust Marcus’s family knowing what she does and what would she do if he decides to go with them to visit the clan? This fantasy adventure is a rollercoaster of emotions and filled with action which will keep you hanging on until the end to find out what happens.
The Girl and the Gargoyle is a page-turning second novel in The Girl and the Raven Series. Pauline Gruber has continued this story with a new twist. Lucy a half-witch/half-demon teenager is once again in the spotlight. With Seamus still looking to destroy her, Lucy is hoping that is all she will have to deal with in her life since moving to Chicago. To help alleviate this as a potential threat, Jude, Lucy’s demon father, begins to train her to use her demon powers.
However much she wants to enjoy going to school, studying, and sitting on the roof with Marcus, her gargoyle boyfriend, fate has another path planned. Marcus’s mother, Clementine, and his biological father, Garret, come to stay in Chicago. Clementine’s desire is for Marcus to join the gargoyle clan with his father, who is the lead protector. Lucy is terrified that this is exactly what will happen, and she will lose her chance at happiness with Marcus if he moves away.
Garret has come to Chicago to complete a mission. That mission is to take out Jude. Jude is a powerful demon. The problem with this that Lucy discovers is that if a demon dies so does his progeny. With her life held in the balance, Lucy works with her allies to make a plan to stop Greyson. Will her efforts be enough?
This book picks up where the first book left off. Lucy has learned who her father is...survived an attack...and is trying to find her way in this new reality she finds herself a part of. Jude is forcing her to train with him in order to harness and improve her demon powers. He is also training Dylan at the same time...which is driving Lucy's hormones crazy. She loves Marcus and can't figure out why her mind is even thinking of Dylan that way. On top of that, a new threat has come on the scene that is forcing Marcus away from her while presenting a new enemy that she must face. When she learns the reality of what happens when a demon dies, she is determined to keep her father safe. But when she conjures up a plan that requires summoning the king of demons, will she be able to do it? Or is there another way? Because if there isn't...then there is going to be quite a price to pay... I enjoyed reading the story. The characters are great. The story takes so many twists and turns that it is hard to figure out who the good guys are. Every action has a part in moving the story along...and I am still left with questions that will hopefully be answered in the next book. Overall, a good book!
This is the 2nd book in the Girl and the Raven series. This is a captivating young adult story. I would really recommend reading book 1 first so that you get to know all the characters and how they come to be where they are now. I love our leading lady Lucy. She is strong willed and determined and full of fight which she is going to need in this story.
We are back with Lucy after the ending in the 1st book her life has been turned upside down when she finds out she is half-witch, half- demon.
Things get more complicated when her father (demon side) reappears and wants her in his life. But is he back just because she's his daughter or is something more sinister behind it? Now fearing for the lives of the people she loves Lucy does as her father wants to avoid his anger.
Things also take another turn when her boyfriends mother returns into his life. His mother wants Marcus to leave and rejoin her and his father as protectors. His father however wants Marcus to help him kill Lucy's father. However if Jude dies so will Lucy.
Now Marcus is on a race against time to save Lucy while Lucy is trying to protect her father. There are so many twists and turns and secrets in this book that you will always be wondering what will happen next.
This second book in this series leaves off with the first as Lucy comes to terms with her father and maybe he’s not all that evil for a demon that is. But what about her other half, the witch side of her bloodline, it hasn’t had it’s awakening yet and what will happen when it does. In this book we’re introduced to some new characters and new dimensions of the characters from the first book. First off, we finally get to meet Marcus’ parent when they come back into town, but their ulterior motives arise when they meet Lucy for the first time. As Marcus’ father lets the news slip about coming to town to kill Jude Lucy is faced with her own mortality. Now Marcus must put his hatred for Jude and Dylan aside in order to protect Lucy again except this enemy is his own blood. Add in some surprise characters that may tip the scales, but which side will come out on top? The next step in every great relationship is meeting the parents but did Lucy and Marcus bite off more than they could chew? This book should be on everyone’s must read list right after the first book in this series, they are that good!
The second book in this series starts with our main character, Lucy. The second book follows Lucy further as her new life now unfolds with new adventures as a half-demon, half-witch. Lucy’s father now wants to know her and spend time with her. Since he has not been interested in her before, she is naturally suspicious. Is there a sinister plot at work here? To top it off, Lucy’s boyfriend has family who wants to be part of their lives now as well. With so much family drama, along with supernatural powers and quirky characters such as demons, witches and gargoyles, how could you not enjoy this second book?
The series of books are definitely not stand-alones. They read much better in order. If you have not read the first, you will definitely want to read and learn of Lucy and her history. The first book is a great set-up to understand the character and drive behind Lucy and her new life. I love watching Lucy’s character unfold deeper as these new adventures play out in front of my eyes.
The Girl and the Gargoyle: YA Paranormal Romance by Pauline Gruber is the second book in the Girl and the Raven series. This is a series that needs to be read in order in my opinion as you are introduced to all the characters in book one. I thought this was a brilliant follow up to book one. The author really knew how to push the story further and to make it even more exciting than the first. It took no time of effort to fall back in with Lucy’s storyline. She is an easy character to connect with and become invested in. The relationship between the main characters is such an interesting one to watch develop. It is complex and has depth that really adds to the overall story. The story is quite fast paced. It feels like a lot happens throughout the book and but it never feels overwhelming. The author handles the story and the pace with ease and the whole book just has a great feel to it. This book is definitely the best so far and I cannot wait to read the next one.
The Girl and the Gargoyle: YA Paranormal Romance (The Girl and the Raven #2) by Pauline Gruber
This is the second book by Gruber that I've read. The Girl and the Gargoyle is the second book in The Girl and the Raven Series. It does need to be read in order.
Lucy has spent almost a year with her uncles. Life keeps getting worse. Now it's her turn to help Marcus deal with his family problems. Not only does she have Seamus after her, but Garrett as well. The quote I chose for Lucy is: “I trust my gut and my gut says Garret has a team of soldiers at Jude’s house. We have to get to Lake Forest. Now!”
Marcus hasn't seen his mother in several years. Now he's got his family to deal with. Keeping Lucy safe last time almost killed him. What will happen to him this time? What of Lucy? The quote I chose for Marcus is: “Save… my… mother. Get out of here! Leave Garret to me.”
This is the second book of this series which I enjoyed just as much as the first. I highly suggest reading the first book as well to help enhance your enjoyment of this series. This is a well written story about just how complicated things can get when you are dating a demon enemy who is also a gargoyle and you are half-witch and half-demon. Lucy and Marcus are about to find out. What will happen when his family comes back and they all want something different for him. But he has one determination and that is to save Lucy and her father but this is where a problem comes in, she has a plan for herself. What happens next I highly recommend reading this book to find out. They are great, strong characters that not only bring the story to life but also kept it engaging. This is a fast paced story that kept me turning pages to the end. It is full of action and worth the pick up!
The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber is the second book in The Girl and the Raven series. Just like the first book, which I recommend reading first, this one draws you into the story from the first page. I did not want to put it down. Continuing from the end of the last book Lucy is still living with her Uncles in Chicago and dating Marcus, a half-demon half-gargoyle. Trying to live her life as a teenager of the supernatural world is no easy feat especially when trying to keep her secrets from school friends. Jude, her demon father, has forced her to start training to harness her demon powers. Her boyfriend’s family is in town with their own agenda that will affect everyone. More adventure, love, friendship, hidden agendas and twists to keep you reading. I cannot wait to continue the story to find out what happens next for Lucy in book three.
Book two was even better than the first!! I can't wait to read book three!!! Lucy has had a rough life. Her gran passed away, then her mother passed away, she moved in with her uncles but keeps secrets from them, her father (Jude) is a demon and he's forcing her to take combat training, her boyfriend (Marcus) is a gargoyle who's natural enemies are demons, someone is trying to kill her father which in turn will kill her, and did I mention that she's a half witch half demon?!?! Right!! Well, when Marcus's long-lost family returns to town Lucy thinks she will lose him forever. She must team up with an unexpected group and fight once again. Will she? Will her father die and her with him? Will combat training get the best of her? Will she lose her boyfriend? Will a most dangerous demon kill her? You guys have got to read this set!! So much happens and it is SO good!!
The Girl and the Gargoyle is the second book in The Girl and the Raven series by Pauline Gruber. If you have yet to read book one, I would definitely recommend starting there.
In some ways, this is a typical YA coming-of-age type of story. There is school, friends, love triangles, and other teenage problems to navigate. But then, throw in being half witch/half human, demons, and extracurricular combat lessons to help you stay alive…..that’s Lucy’s crazy world! I thought this was a great second instalment, as with all good books in a series, it raises more questions than it answers and leaves you wanting more. The pages turned so fast throughout this story, it’s action-packed and you need to know what happens next!
This is the second installment in The Girl and the Raven series and was just as good as the first one in my opinion. I loved how the author not only continued the stories but decided to dive into more complex stories as well with the introduction of new characters. Her ability to draw you into the story from the first page with her perfect characterizations and descriptions of the surrounding and what is occurring is phenomenal. That was one of the things I loved the most about the first book and she didn’t disappoint with this one. Once I start I can’t put it down until I reach the end which is what happened last night as well. I look forward to picking up where this left off with book three. If you are a fan of Twilight, adult, or teen, you will love this series. Pick it up!
The second installment in this paranormal, romantic novel full of mystery, intrigue and suspense, The Girl and The Gargoyle takes the reader deeper into the mystical world that Lucy finds herself thrown into. The complexity of the characters in this novel really makes it seem as if they are close friends rather than book friends. I thought the first book would be my favorite YA paranormal romance of the year, but I have come to the conclusion that this series will be my favorite YA Paranormal Romances of the year. These are not stand alone novels you really need the information in each one to move forward, but you won’t regret picking up this series. I am heading into book three and cannot wait for what I am sure will be the thrilling conclusion to this series!
Book 2! Well it’s definitely been interesting to say the least! I’m still debating which book I liked more, despite knowing book 3 is next. In saying that I love them both! It had a few moments where I actually laughed out loud. The Girl and the Gargoyle by Pauline Gruber takes us further into Lucy’s story. Dylan and Jude are definitely my favorite characters. Lucy is actually quite annoying at times and all Marcus does is brood. There’s a war coming and it’s time for training to prepare. Jude is being hunted by a protector, a gargoyle, who just happens to be Marcus’ father. On top of the fact the threat of Seamus still remains. Getting deeper into the author’s world, I want to be part of it! I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3 to continue this series!
The Girl and the Gargoyle is a YA paranormal romance and the second book in The Girl and the Raven by Pauline Gruber. Before starting this book, you should read the first book The Girl and The Raven and in quick succession as there is a lot of layers. It is a quick read, and I definitely enjoyed it. It is original and different to other paranormal romance stories. The characters are also a little different to your straightforward usual paranormal critters. There are demons and witches and gargoyles and an evil father on the hunt. As I said with the first book there are secrets and lies, magic and a wealth of unusual. YA’s will love this book.
After reading the second installment of this series, I am just as impressed as I was with the first book! The plot is face paced and continues to build toward what I expect will be an epic conclusion.
The relationship between Lucy, Marcus and Dylan continue to become more and more intertwined. As Marcus' past comes back to stare them all in the face, there are new characters and new twists introduced. I couldn't help but to become more and more pulled in to the book as more secrets are uncovered!
Definitely looking forward to reading the last book in this series and seeing how the author wraps it all up! Although, secretly, I am hoping that there are spin-offs of other characters!
