When God Met a Girl: Life Changing Encounters with Women of the Bible

Rate this book
When God Met a Girl portrays vivid snapshots of the loving meetings between Jesus and the women he encountered. Jesus was never dominant or insensitive, but was a healer who encouraged and empowered these women. Be encouraged to imitate Jesus in your relationships with others and to have a deeper understanding of grace, God's life-changing love for women, and the realization that true self-esteem can only come from a committed relationship with him.

When I saw this advertised a little part of me thought, not another book like this, what could be different about this?
I don't like tarring all books with the same brush and downloaded the kindle sample only to download the whole book moments later!

Why was this different?
It was the way in which the author presented the scripture in a story format of thinking of the women's lives before they met Jesus and the transformation he brought about in their lives.

To be honest, and rather quite sad when I think about it, I had never up to that point given much time to think of the woman by the well and the fact that man she was currently living with was not her husband and how she got there or what her life must have been like to be alarmed that a Jewish man was speaking to her in public.
I didn't even think what it would be like to be part of the crowd as the woman caught in sin was brought to the leaders or what really made each person step away when Jesus wrote in the sand. Although we will never know what was written the author brings to our attention that it could have been anyone of us that read that and stepped back and it made me think about my own 'sins' before I judge anyone else.

There were many moments that made me reflect and I learned new things about stories I had read lots of times before but in a new way. I love the word of God and this has helped me think a little deeper about where the characters came from and the impact that one single moment with Jesus changed everything from that moment forward.

This was engaging and current. I really connected with what the author was saying and it has helped me to take time and with new 'eyes' approach these stories in the Bible again.

2nd time reading this book. I can read it regularly as it serves as a great reminder of many things. I find this book one of the most encouraging books and most helpful in my spiritual growth. Many lessons can be learned from this book. 1 amazing thing is to see how Jesus treated women-in a time when women had zero social standing, He made them worthwhile. His treatment of women was nothing short of scandalous to the views of society (and his disciples) but such scandalous behavior makes it clear how important we are to Him. Heart warming news indeed!

A truly motivational and inspiring book for any woman or girl who feels that their position has no place in this world. Boy, will they receive a different outlook on life when they pick this one up. This book is a wonderful read, and the pages flow freely. Any woman willing to read this will be inspired by the hand of God on these women of the Bible's lives, as well as their own!

This is a terrific book, filled with encouragement for women, based on the acceptance and grace shown by Jesus to the women He encountered in the Gospels. The only thing that brought it down from five stars was that I felt the author didn't quite get the culture right in some of his fictionalisations.

Short imagined vignettes of Jesus' encounters with women, interspersed with Bible study and commentary. I like Liz Curtis Higgs' series about the women of the Bible better, the writing is more powerful.

Interesting and thought-provoking

This book was well-written and inspiring. The author presented very interesting narratives of women in the Bible and then short commentaries about them which helped me to apply and personalise them. I was blessed! Highly recommended!

Refreshing to read about Jesus' encounters with women. The author asked really dumb questions in the study guide, though.

Touching

This was a touching and thorough look at how much you can screw up and still have the love of God. It made me feel good.

Very good. It helps, at times, to read something like this. It shows how God cherishes women and what He can do for them.
