This book changed my life!

Fifteen years ago I stood in front of a bookshelf in a busy mall and thinking life couldn't get much worse than it was when, for some reason I don't remember to this day, Jesus in Blue Jeans: A Practical Guide to Everyday Spirituality caught my attention and I reached for it. I briefly skimmed through it, randomly opening it up and reading short snippets through the tears. One of these I had never forgotten. It was a short tale about following the still, small voice whispering in your heart, guiding you on your life journey. I had just taken a terribly wrong turn in ignoring that little voice, but instead of feeling condemned - like her message had reached me too late - it stayed with me as a constant reminder to heed that whisper with more diligence and determination in the future; to not make the same mistake twice.

Even more so, Laurie's book inspired me to write a book of my own - Let Your Heart Take Flight: Parables for Our Modern Age, which just got published in March of 2014. Thank you, Laurie, for sharing your stories with us.

I liked Jesus CEO so much that it was a treat to discover this on our library shelves just in time for me to go on retreat. The small chapters are thought provoking and set up in a way that works for reflection. The one that touched me the most was that Jesus enjoyed and attended events to be with others and impart his message. Sometimes I feel like I might be wasting time with all my "busyness" at events. This chapter gave me a fresh perspective and affirmed the importance of being involved and participating.

I read this years ago with Blue Like Jazz. I remember liking it, the crux being that He wore robes so they could relate to Him then. Were He to appear today, He would wear blue jeans. Regardless of what He wears, He is relatable. I wonder what I would think of it if I read it today.

I loved it. Sometimes you pick up a lot from older books. Heaps of good stuff in this book. Very easy to read.

Curt and I discovered this book in the late '90's and used it for a morning reading/meditation study. We have favorite stories that we re-read and we've each used her stories as an illustration in a sermon or something else where it seemed appropriate. There is a chapter titled "He was a fragrance poured out" and this was our favorite. I used in this year in a sermon. Of course, I always think of my loving and generous Curt for when he was walking this earth in physical form he often left the "scent of God" in whatever room he took leave of. That is how he tried to live his personal life and his business life as well.

The title of this book caught my eye a few years ago. I must say that I was disappointed with the book. There was no wow factor.

I received this as a gift and it was a welcome surprise. My copy is dirtied and is a mainstay by my night table.

Still reading; can provide a good perspective on spiritual growth if one is unsure about a life situation and how to improve or resolve problems in life.

This is a great devotional book. It really helped me to think about Jesus and his choices in different ways. I felt closer to him after reading it.
