Bob Dash lives down the road from us in Sagaponack, LI. These are his notes on making his garden, which is now open to the public. I like the chance to read about where I am, what its possibilities are, and how another sees the same stretch of road.

Since I wrote the above, I have met the author at his house and found him to be insufferable. But then again he is famously grumpy and over 80, so I should cut him some slack!

Poetic, eloquent, comical...how in God's name does one write like this???? Only Robert Dash could!!!! A fascinating meditation on the seasons and moments of life as the artist/gardener extraordinaire. A recommended read.
