When the ground has been cut from under your feet, all you can do is take a leap of faith.

Belle Morgan has no idea why the men are chasing her or why murder follows in her footsteps.
All she knows is she has to stay hidden but that isn't easy when you are left to fend for yourself in a strange town and your face is suddenly all over the news channels and on the front of the papers.
When a street kid turns up dead at the back of the local hospital, Lasser finds himself embroiled in a fight to find out who the victim was and why they were brutally murdered.
With the stakes mounting Lasser discovers that the runaway girl holds the key to the murder and mayhem.
When those closest to him are caught in the backlash of hatred and violence then all bets are off as Lasser realises that some lines have to be crossed if you are to save the ones you care most about. As the faceless killers are drawn to the town, Lasser knows he must find the mystery girl before they do.

Rob Roughley lives in the North West of England (God's coal bunker, the land of the wedding cake made by placing three meat pies on top of one another and whippets on lengths of string)
He is the author of eight crime/thriller novels featuring DS Lasser. The novels are set between the run down streets of a northern town and the beautiful yet desolate west Pennine moors.
If you love your crime fiction crammed with square jawed heroes driving flash cars and glorious women who shimmer with inner light, then the DS Lasser novels are not for you.
However, if you prefer your characters to be flawed, with a sprinkling of dandruff and old acne scars, the plots to be laced with dark humour, then give them a try.

These stories about DS Lasser are quite riveting . The tale is faced paced and well written. Grammar not too hot but it can be forgiven as the story is so good . I'm currently reading my way through all the stories, each one is better than the last .

Read some LAser books awhile back and fancy reading them again. Rather gruesome in pArts but there's something likeable about Plymouth. Maybe there is deep down some good in everyone..keep on entertaining us

Loved Cave as I have all Robin Roughley s books. Like DS Lasser but his brutality 's rather off putting. I'm sure a smart fellow like him could render someone helpless without killing or almost killing them. No other complaints..

Little long, but still brilliantly written

Not for faint of heart. Lasser isn't "beach" reading. You really can't put them down.

But Lasser has LANGUAGE/Sex, it's not casual it's part and parcel of storylines, but it's there.

My current go to read in isolation

Once again an excellent Lasser tale, nice flow, plenty of action and still that good touch of keeping old characters and stories just in the background, thanks once again.

My first Robin Roughley and not my last. There was a lot going on in nice short chapters. Loads of characters but somehow it was easy to follow. I enjoyed the storyline and looked forward each day to reading more.

Robin Roughley is to Crime Thrillers what John Wayne was to Westerns and it simply can't get better than with True Grit DS Lasser. I loved the series so far but this novel went up another notch again and by 49% I was an emotional wreck.
As in any crime there is always innocent victims but when it is people that Lasser knows, he has a darker side, one to be scared of. Even those close to him have seen it and it is like looking at a stranger. Unfortunately for the bad guys they don't know until it is too late but the sickest of those can recognise that look, they know he is really like them.
Belle is being hunted down by men she doesn't know, men that don't want to talk. Moving from Liverpool to Wigan to evade them and living rough on the streets has worked until she is caught on camera running away after her friend has been murdered. The footage shown on T.V has done Belle no favour and her life is in danger again. After meeting a 17 year old girl, that is more than kind to her, she feels perhaps not everyone is bad but when the girl mentions her dad is a policeman she flees. Bannister's daughter Kelly vows to find her again. They are so alike, to look at you could take them for sisters if not twins. Now they are both in terrible danger. I loved the larger role of Bannister.
Sometimes you wish you had never started a series simply because you would love the pleasure all over again. This is an absolute belter of a book from Wigan.

The story starts following two rough sleepers stemi and belle who move from sleeping in a shop doorway in town to the warm and safety of the air vents at the back of the local hospital not a good move as it turns out when they arrive a woman is attacked on the car park below stemi tries to save her and ends up dead and the woman in a bad way with her face cut to ribbons so without giving to much away it's several story's wrapped into one enough to keep anyone interested this is the ninth book I've read in this series and if anyone asked me which was my favourite I'd say the last one I've read as each book seems to get better and better

Robin Roughley
Book 9.
CRAVE.
The ninth book in the DS Lasser series and its every bit as good as the previous eight. Lasser, Odette and Bannister are back trying to solve all sorts of troubles in Wigan. It seems that Wigan is not the safest place to stay. As usual this book starts at a fast pace and keeps the momentum going all the way to the end. The last 5% of this book is probably the best ending to any book I've read this year. Very highly recommended read.

I don't know how Mr. Roughley does it. This is the 9th book in the series and it's still as fresh and riveting as book 1.
I say this each time but I think "Crave" is my favourite so far.
My heart was in my mouth so many times and the adrenaline was flowing.
I loved Belle and wonder whether she'll appear in any future books.
Keep writing Robin. I need more of DS Lasser.

I can understand why this book rates so well, another great read from this author. No shortage of high octane action from DS Lasser and his side kick DI Odette Noble. Plenty of bodies stacking up, and no surprise the disability bills in Wigan are so high. In this book its the women that make everything happen. Looking forward to the next in the series.

The series just keeps getting better. The characters in the books growing and making the reader want to find out more. Brilliant.
