Told in dual perspectives (Gian & Evangeline)

GIAN: We're first introduced to Evie who seems to have the bad luck b*tch chasing her ass, first it was a sprained ankle, a raptured Achilles tendon can end a dancing career in an instant, which is what happened, just what she didn't need, then she caught her fiance cheating on her with his protege, she had a hunch he was but kind of just ignored the signs but to actually witness it was the last shove she needed to break off the engagement and move out.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I must have done some seriously bad stuff
in my previous life to deserve my non stop
run of bad luck.

Homeless, broke, no job her best friend Carmela takes pity on her and offers her a place to stay

lately my life had been one mistake after another

desperate to find a job Evie agrees to an interview for a job with her best friend’s twin brother Gian Trassato at his upscale night club. Things don't go quite as planned, a stolen kiss with an attractive man who gets her heart racing and her blood pumping, a non interview.

The feel of his hands against my skin
His taste
His scent
he was intoxicating
Addictive
He was going to be my downfall

Embarrassed with herself Evie dashes from the club, half way home she realizes she's left her purse behind at the club and having to go back and retrieve it she becomes a witness to something Gian’s enemies would kill to keep secret.

To being under the protection of Gian, the last place she wanted to be

It was that I couldn't trust anyone
Especially with my words and thoughts
According to him, they could become my worst enemy.
- Gian

What I really enjoyed with this book is the fact that your'e not overloaded with information just moves at a nice easy pace where you connect with the story and characters so well. The only thing I craved with this being one of my all time fav genres was more grit, rival families at war, a slight taste of darkness but I did enjoy this still..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic "Why did you choose this life?"
" Honestly, I've never given it much thought.
It's in my blood.
My dad, my uncle, my grandfather
No one escapes, and honestly, I didn't want to."

An out right attack on the open road
Engines revved
Tires squealed
Bang
Bang
Bang

Shit is about to get real

Once your're in
You're in for life
Death is the only way out.

A message thrown through a window
A threat

Image and video hosting by TinyPic "My life was a complete and total mess
I couldn't fathom how far I'd fallen
How had I managed to make a string of bad decisions
And now my life was a virtual house of cards ready to
collapse at any second. "

I'm not sure how to explain this, but here goes nothing...

On the heels of a highly embarrassing breakup, Nebraskan native Evangelina "Evie" Jeffers is forced to pack up her life and move in with her best friend, Carmela Trassato. The move-in is brief because Evie witnesses a scene at the wrong place and wrong time, which leads Carmela's brother to immediately swoop in and decide that Evie needs to be under his personal surveillance and protection at all times.

Carmela's twin brother is twenty-seven year-old capo Gianluca Trassato of the (Italian) Trassato Crime Family. His uncle Dominick is the boss and Gian's goal is to work his way up the crime ladder the same way his father did. Evie and Gian develop a friendship of sorts, but it's Evie whose indecisiveness and wavering about whether she wants to be with him or not that takes center stage until the end of this story.

What I did like about this story:
-the comedic undertones
-the friction between Carmela and Evie, and the dislike between the boss (Dominick) and Evie
-the action
-the passive aggressive behavior from Helen Trassato (Gian's mother) directed towards Evie (yes, I like messy drama!)

The bones of this story was excellent! I liked the setting, the premise of the story, and even the names of the characters! But the delivery of this story?

 photo tumblr_inline_noz3gvOsNV1tu9m6k_500_zpsl1uqlrp4.gif

I'm very picky when it comes to mafia-romance stories and the first eighty percent of this book was lukewarm for me. Yes, there's some action that makes the suspense level climb slightly, but it took much effort to remain invested in this story up until the end of the book.

The content of this story was dark mixed with light. While this book had some of the elements that I love reading in mafia-romance stories, somehow it just fell short for me. This felt more like a mafia-lite story because although Gian was a capo, I didn't feel the weight his character should exude. I didn't feel the strength that the capo position usually affords and I wasn't convinced that he had the necessary leadership qualities to be effective. Then again, the story didn't focus on his capo duties, merely mentioning a few of his work-related tasks here and there, and that contributed to my disinterest. In addition, both main characters spent too much time rambling on in their thoughts and I wasn't convinced at all that Evie could stomach the mafia lifestyle for ten seconds. Gian's relationship with Evie also progressed at lightning speed and I didn't feel that connection either.

At the eighty-one percent mark is where my interest sparked like a firecracker! But then the book was rapidly coming to an end just when there was a delicious twist in the story!

 photo image_zpsorvdcpgl.gif

On the up side, that big twist in the story continues on to book two in this series, featuring Carmela's story.

Review:
“Studying her face, I trailed my hand down her side, along her hip, down the miles of silky skin on her leg. Her flesh pebbled beneath the pads of my fingers, and her pupils swelled. A tsunami of desperation and need hit me in the dead center of my chest.”

5 criminal stars! I love a great crime family book and this one is so, so good!

Evangeline had big dreams! She was going to be a broadway star and have her name in lights, but she injures herself and shatters any dreams she ever had, not to mention she lost the man of her dreams. Now down on her luck, she lands an interview with Gian, her best friends brother. I mean anything works right? She knows Gian is trouble, but he’s so charasmatic and perfect for her, the problem? He’s connected to the Trassato crime family. Neither of these two can deny the attraction they feel, but one fateful night Evangeline sees something that could take Gian down, and now she’s mixed up in trouble she never wanted to be in.

I was on the edge of my seat while reading this book! It suspenseful and it will keep you guessing. The dynamic relationship between Gian and Evangeline is electric! I’ve read my fair share of crime family/mafia books, but there’s something so different and unique about this one! One of my favorites to date!

Yes! I have found myself immerse on this rollercoaster story. I never thought i was going to be so involved, until the wee hours of the night. It gave me chills, it captivated me, and it was all and more i was looking to find from this new author, at least to me.

The ups and downs and ins and outs, they were just the tip of the iceberg, But WAIT, it does not end there...well, the story kind of ends for this book, but then....at the peak of the story and in a very subtle and sweet manner, another door opens, and there is a huge turn of events that leaves you full of expectations, introducing a platform for the second book and the continuation of this series, with the second characters, becoming next, the main characters...kind of as a cliffhanger! Well played Mrs. Author. Well played. Now I need to know what will happen?

Looking forward to the next installment. I know it will be great, just like this book!

In one word: Delightful

Plain, cliche yet with a good flow is how I will describe my first ever read by Ms. Cardiff. The story line picked up by the author is already used and abused several times too many. Though I believe the real talent lies in presenting it from a new angle or different perspective to the readers. Lisa failed to accomplish it fully in my eyes.
Personally, it was nowhere near good as some other mafia reads that I've read and love wholeheartedly. The book could've been better. The H while being described as the youngest feared, ruthless capo in the family, didn't clearly portray that image to my brain cells. The sex scenes also left a lot to be desired in that department. Why I completed the whole book in on go then, you ask me? Firstly, the pace was complimentary to the plot. Second, the writings of Cardiff are easy to read. Thirdly, I was in a real mood to devour a mafia read, that too by an author never read by me before.
So as a whole, I am actually glad that I found her. Let's see if I will consume another one in this series or maybe a whole new book by her!

Josie's Review

Gian in the Trassato Crime Family series was a fun, suspense filled, hot read. Once I started reading about Evie’s very down on her luck and accident prone life I could not get enough.

Evangeline is down on her luck. She is a ballet dancer who dreams of making in big on Broadway. Her dreams are shattered when she falls and injuries herself and things go downhill from there. She walks in on her fiancé screwing another dancer and has no money, job and no apartment. Evangeline is a trip despite her situation she still fights to get back on track with her career. With the help and support of her best friend Carmela she will be working for Gian Trassato. Evie is just too much. She crosses paths at a club with a gorgeous hot man, one thing leads to the other and things get hot and heavy. Not knowing who the other is before their night together are shocked to find out after. Surprise!!

Let me tell you the dynamics and connection these characters shared was off the charts and so HOT! Gian is head of the Trassato family, and at a very young age he is expected to rule with an iron fists. After Evie high tails it out of his club, he is forced to play by the rules that was handed down to him. Evie walks on the one thing she should not and Gian is forced to claim her as his fiancé to save her life. Gian is a man whore the last thing he wants is a fiancé but having Evie around to play the part might just be fun.

Evie and Gian try to so hard to just play the role in front of the family but his appeal and lure is something she can’t deny. I loved Gian. He is a strong Italian man but when it comes to Evie he is weak. I love that she brings out the best in him and makes it so he can no longer deny her. I loved the push and pull between them. Once they admitted their real feelings for one another their relationship is just so beautiful, unique and so supportive.

Just when Gian and Evie develop a healthy and normal relationship, secrets are revealed and someone is out to wreak havoc on the Trassato family empire. Gian will do anything to protect Evie, even betray his family to be with the woman he loves. When the identity and reason for all the trouble is revealed, Evie and Gian are now faced with the very possibility of a life separate from each other.

This was such a great read, the character development and plot of the story was captivating and well written. The author added just the right amount of humor, drama, passion and suspense to make this story special. Gian was a great start to this series and I can’t wait to see what Carmela’s book will hold. The Trassato’s family drama is far from over.

I am always on the lookout for a new mafia themed romance or series and I think I have found a new one that could end up being a favorite if the rest of the series are as good as Gian was. It had everything I love in a romance book; chemistry, angst, sexiness, romance, some suspense and drama, characters that form a connection and are memorable.

Gian, what can I say about this hot, sexy, dominate, mafia Capo? Well besides what I just said I really loved how Gian not only protects Evie when it comes seeing her ex at his club but how he steps up and protects her when she sees something she shouldn’t. He knows there is chemistry between the two from the very start, and even though at first he doesn’t know who she is, he plans on making her his for a night or more at the very minimum.

Evie really wasn’t in a good place in her life, she found out her fiancée was cheating, she hasn’t recovered from her injury, oh and she witnesses something she shouldn’t. Evie had a fire to her that I really liked. I think she complimented Gian’s character well, and even when certain truth’s come out she stayed true to who she was.

Overall, Gian was a good start to the Trassato Crime Family series. I am really interested as to which direction that Ms. Cardiff plans on taking the series, but whatever way she does, this book whore plans on reading the next book for sure.

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

This was the first book I read from Lisa and it will not be my last. I absolutely loved how she puts all these twist and turns and leaves you guessing what was going to happen next and who was really after Gian and Evie. The two main characters has off the charts chemistry and have a love / hate relationship. Carmela plays a big role in this story and can't wait to read her and Kon's story.

Evie is a Broadway dancer after having to take a year off due to injury she craves to be back in the lights. When she finds her fiancé in bed with another woman she leaves and is focus on her career. When her best friend Carmela ask her brother Gian to interview Evie for a job, he mistakes her fair game in his club. when Evie leaves her purse in Gian office, she get more than an eye full. To keep her safe Gian protect her by saying she is his fiancé. With there fake relationship and someone wanting to kill them can Gian and Evie stay alive to see if their feelings are real or will be for nothing.

I will be on the lookout for more books from this author.

I like stories where the heroine has a bit more backbone or at least grows one. In this story, it seemed like a back and forth process with the heroine (whose name I've already forgotten). She's been lied to all her life by her mother and brother, manipulated by them, including her father yet, her brother is the only one that she tells off? Her dad is the Russian mob and he just willingly walks away from his daughter after trying to extort her relationship with Gianluca? Then, when things heat up, she walks away from him (Gianluca) because and I quote "Gian and I aren't together anymore so you can't get what you want." Hmm.. Yet, he does because surprise, surprise, her brother is engaged to her best friend/sister-in-law.

There wasn't enough depth to the characters or the plot for me. It was a nice read to past the time. Basically, the story centered on the heroine's father controlling her life in New York from afar.

Maybe this was a great story for someone else, but it was just okay for me.

What a kick ass story!

I can't believe how good it was. I had to keep reading and couldn't put it down!

Evie was an interesting woman. She had gone through so much and was with the biggest jerk. She kept getting herself into more trouble. Then she hooks up with Gian. She pulls it together at the end and I am so proud of her.

Gian is sexy as hell. It is a little far fetched when he does what he did to protect her, but it starts his and Evie's journey so it had to happen. He is honest with his feelings and I liked that.

The plot has some twists I guessed it but I didn't realize how twisted it was until it all was spelled out. The next book gets sets up with this one and I am so reading it. The author sure knows how to pull you in and she is an excellent story teller!

OK, so this is my first read by this author and I liked it! Honestly I feel like I am in the minority here because as much as I liked it, I didn't quite love it either.

The storyline and premise sounded great but for me the execution of it was just ok.....it was lacking something for me and I found it hard to connect and understand Gian and Evie's connection. I get it all happened fast but I have read that before and if done "right" it can work but for me in this story it just didn't quite grab me and convince me. I mean he is an admitted and known manwhore...then all of a sudden within a day...he's a changed man....hmmmmm not sure I can be convinced ........yet anyways, lol. I have a feeling I will see more of them in the next story which btw I do plan to read soon!

Anyways, all in all a good story and good enough that I am definitely diving right into Carmela and Kong's book next:)

As a fan of Lisa Cardiff, I took time out of my busy ARC review schedule to delve into Gian, book 1 of the Trassato Crime Family series, via my Kindle Unlimited subscription. Here’s my quick take on this one, folks:

Gian - A young handsome, NY mafia Capo is an unapologetic womanizer/player likely to be Don one day, after his uncle Dominick steps down. His father was the previous Don but is dying of cancer. With others jealous of his quick rise to his position, he soon realizes he can’t trust anyone. He ends up protecting Evie by claiming her as his fiancee, so she won’t be killed for witnessing the deadly/bloody aftermath of some mafia business. Supposedly he did so because she is his twin sister’s best friend. Some will likely complain she turns him into a complete mafioso mess, btw. For me it works, because I prefer that over a heart hardened, only cares about himself jerk. Meaning, I’ll take sweet over too sinister.

Evangeline - Wanna be actress/dancer/Broadway star who broke up with her cheating ex-fiancee. Despite her claims of wanting to be independent, she had clinger/damsel in distress tendencies. She left Nebraska for The Big Apple, but moved in/got engaged to a rich art affiliated boyfriend immediately after injuring her foot, basically had nowhere else to go. Lived off him/spent months planning their wedding while she was supposed to be recuperating/doing physical therapy. Turns out she wasn’t doing the therapy, because she was scared it wouldn’t work. Huh? Yeah, I’m scratching my head over that, too. Oddly, the year off seemed to do wonders, because she seemed to step right back into practicing for an upcoming audition. She once again has no where to stay, so Carmela, Gian’s sister, shows up and takes her in. She forces Gian to interview Evie and offer her a job but she becomes his fiancee instead.

At the bar when they first meet, Gian, not knowing who she is, uses his player moves and gets her into his lady lair for some smexy time, after Evie gets upset over some more cheating ex drama. They get interrupted, and Evie ends up needing his protection.

With several twists and turns I didn’t see coming, some surprising, manipulative enemies crawl out of the woodwork and majorly mess with this main couple’s growing relationship. To broker peace and give Evie and Gian a chance at a HEA, a certain someone steps forward to negotiate an unexpected arrangement, at a huge sacrifice, that ultimately sets the stage for the next book of the series.

What’s the passion meter on this one? Well, at 45% they do the deed. By 50% he wants more but mentally notes “as long as she realizes this will never be permanent”. What a guy, huh? Not reformed yet, but wait for it, because it eventually happens. At 60% and thereafter, neither seem to even think about using using protection. The consequences aren’t even mentioned/implied, which considering his “couldn’t even count the ladies I’ve been with if I tried,” past I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow each time. It wasn’t until 70% they finally seem to agree to commit to each other. How’s this guy seal the deal? Well, the only acceptable, upstanding way a true mafioso member would. He beats the heck out of her ex for interfering in her life.

What did I take exception to? Well, read the note below. For this true romantic at heart, that was just not acceptable and should have been left out. I only kept reading because this is a mafia tale, and disappointing as it may be, it seems to often happen with these particular hero characters.

Also, when push came to shove, Evie, trying to do the best thing for Gian, does not fight for her man and gives up too easily. He’s the one who ends up opening a door to see if she’ll give them another chance. With just a quick apology, he forgives and forgets, and all is well. Like I said, redemption does finally come into play here.

There is some action and surprising big reveals in this one, folks, at least it was for me. If not for the incident below, I likely would have given this a five star. I am, however, very partial to mafia romantic tales though, so perhaps overly generous as it is. His hero romantic man card took a huge hit with me for messing around with Angela in his office. For writing, it likely deserves a 4 star, but hero misconduct earns it only a 3.

Here’s to hoping my review was helpful in some way in helping you decide if you want to give this new series a try.

Goodreads Romance Safety Gang: Gian decides to try to get Evie off his mind by getting smexy with a new bar employee, Angela, in his very frequently used lady lair at the bar. Kissing, groping, undressing are mentioned, including something lude/crude I can’t post here. He, at the last second, changes his mind, because he still keeps thinking of Evie. As this will be a deal breaker for many in this group, I felt it very necessary to point this out. This occurred, btw, after she was living in his apartment as his fake fiancee but they hadn’t gone all the way yet. Therefore, I don’t consider it a romance safe read.

Title: Gian, Series: Trassato Crime Family (Book 1), Author: Lisa Cardiff, Pages: 242, stand-alone, mafia violence, VERY steamy scenes, hero gets smexy with a bar employee after meeting heroine, no a romance safe read, heroine gives up too easily/doesn’t fight for their love when hero wants to. Then a big twist with someone brokering a deal that’s a huge sacrifice so these two can be together. Setting the stage for the next book.

Gian (Trassato Crime Family #1)
Lisa Cardiff
4 stars

Okay so – this is the beginning to a series of course but Im not sure if this is the entire book on Gian or a small snippet of something more to come. Im a little confused by the post that there is more to this story. Of course there is more but I mean is this not the end of Gian’s story or ….. but I can tell you book two in the Trassato Family series is Carmela’s book. Im thinking we have only tipped only a small portion of what is about to go down. I know I confused you with this snippet but Im not sure if the books are going to be a continuation of the mayhem or if we are going to get standalones.

Evie is tossing items out of her window on to the front lawn drinking expensive bottles of alcohol when we meet her. LOVE IT! GO GIRL --- we find out that her fiancé has been banging his “student” on the side and of course wants forgiveness – don’t they all. BLAH BLAH BLAH! LOL! --- Evie knew in her heart he was trouble but after her dreams were shattered she had no other choice but to throw herself towards her potential wedding as Kevin became her life line in her pity party. Broke, with no job lined up and on her own – her best friend comes to her rescue. Setting up an interview with her brother Gian Trassato will get her back in the game. Little does Evie know the man who just escorted her to his private office is that man.

Holy cats – this was hilarious because you as the reader know who the man is and it only gets worse from there –

What a great great read. All hell breaks lose after Evie goes back to retrieve her purse. Seeing things she should not see – Evie has to become the best actress she has ever been – but the question is why is Gian willing to protect her.

Evie’s life becomes a complete wreck and I mean all out no holds barred shit storm and its awesome! Carmela’s story is going to be a good one; especially if we get caught back up with Gian and Evie and see where they are. LOVE LOVE this series --- There is so much more to come with the Trassato Crime Family --- its going to be good.

Thank you for the ARC Lisa! Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets!

Well what a way to pop my Lisa Cardiff cherry! GIAN was an amazing read full of grit, raw passion, and angst. This book gripped me from the very first page and I did not put it down until the pages quit turning. While I have a weakness for mafia/mob style romances, I will have to say that this is probably one of the BEST I have read out there.

Let me break it down for you...

Evie is fresh off of a break up and and picking up the pieces of her life. When her best friend offers to get her brother to help with a job, she takes the offer. What she doesn't expect is Gian or the things he makes her feel. Then she sees something she isn't supposed to. Now, he has to protect her... which mean she is now he new FAKE fiance.

The moment Gian sees Evie he wants to devour her whole. He didn't expect her to be his best friend's sister. He can look but can't touch.. until he does and now all bets are off. What starts out as fake, turns into so much more as the passion and fire ignite between these two. Gian and Evie have a long, hard yet life changing journey ahead of them.

Two hearts. Two souls. Two different lives. One epic love story. When Gian wants something, he takes it and Evie is now his. Expect lots and lots of heat and fun banter in this book. I swooned, smiled, and fell madly in love with Gian. And sweet Evie, I was rooting for her to get vendication and that happy ending she so desperately deserved.

I highly recommend this book.

Evie's life has taken some big hits in the last year. She moved to New York to become a Broadway star, but a devastating injury has her sidelined. To make matters worse, she catches her fiance cheating, so now she's jobless, homeless, and broke. Her best friend talks her into interviewing for a job at her brother, Gian Trassato's club. She's early for the interview, and for the first time, she's hooking up with a sexy stranger, when she finds out it's Gian. If her instant attraction isn't enough to make her run, Gian is connected to the Trassato Crime Family, which scares her. And life isn't done with her yet, as she finds herself witnessing something she shouldn't have, which could get her killed. Now Gian and Evie's lives are connected whether she likes it or not.

WOW! I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough! The character development is fantastic, with an entertaining cast of secondaries. Simmering chemistry finally ignites into FIERY FLAMES of sexy scene goodness that had me sweating. Lisa Cardiff's brilliant writing style never fails to keep me on the edge of my seat, with heart pounding. Her twists and turns have big OMG moments every which way from Sunday, which had me very vocal during the story. I'm always excited for her next book coming out, but it's super hard to wait patiently! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Evangeline Jeffers is at an all time low. She is a dancer with an injury that will probably end her career, and now she has caught her fiancé cheating on her. Two bottles of his expensive wine later and her decision is made. A new life needs to start with a job. Her best friend sets her up with an interview, That leads her to something that will change everything for her. Something she should never have seen may cost her life.
Gian Trassato is part of the Italian Mafia, and a man whore. Doing a favour for his sister involves an innocent in family business. He must try and keep her safe the only way he can. Who is it that is more threatening to her ? His Mafia family or him ?
Lots of danger and excitement in this story with a sexy love story to go with it. Our hero must learn he can't always get what he wants. Our heroine has to learn a deeply buried family secret. We have some great characters that will be more involved in the next book. I loved this and can't wait to read the next.

I was given this book in exchange of an honest review.

I didn’t really know what I was getting into with this book. I don’t read a lot of mafia type books so was kind of going in cold.

The chemistry between Gian and Evie was off the charts hot! They were sexy and the way they were fighting what was happening was really something to watch unfold.

However, the real reason I continued to read this book, although the sex, chemistry and hot men should have been enough, but the real reason was because the whole story was fantastic. There was drama, intrigue, suspense, sex, chemistry and a bloody good storyline.

The characters had depth, all questions were answered even though there were a couple which were left open for the next book in the series (nice move) and I would have no hesitation in recommending this book to others.

I absolutely, definitely give this book 5 pink stars.

Gian was the first book that i had read by Lisa Cardiff. I wasn't disappointed, Gian is an intriguing romantic suspense told from the dual point of view of Gian and Evangeline, the hero and heroine of this story.

This story is full of twists and turns that i didn't see coming. It's an engaging, entertaining and enthralling read. If you enjoy the mafia/organised crime genre this is a book for you.

Gian is an alpha and a very strong intriguing character. Whilst Evangeline 'Evie' came across at times as indecisive.

Overall this is a love story full of drama, suspense, danger and angst with love scenes that are really quite hot! I look forward to reading more from this author and in particular the next installment of this series.

Gian is a young, new capo in the Trassato family. His dad is dying and his Uncle is the boss. There are several under him that are unhappy that Gian was promoted.

Evie caught her fiance having sex with one of his protege's and this time she left for good but she doesn't have a job. very little money or a place to go. Her best friend tries to get her a job with her brother and when Evie and Gian meet sparks fly.

I liked this book a lot. I loved how Evie got caught up in Gian's mess but held strong. There is a lot of twists and turns, plenty of drama and suspense and some hot ,steamy sex scenes. I would've never guessed the outcome.

If you like drama, crime family's enemy's to lovers, Dancers, twists and turns and some steamy sex this is for you! I also thought it was a bit different. A fresh story.

I recieved a copy free for my honest opinion.

So I really really enjoyed this story from the great looking cover to the very end. This is not my first time reading this story and it sure wont be my last. This author is amazing with her writing and the story plots that she makes come to life are just as amazing. The story that is told this time is a true piece of art I'm not just saying that because I like this authors work no I'm saying this because the words just fly right off the pages and make you stuck to it like glue. So yes this is a MUST READ story cover to cover don't miss any pages read. By the end I was craving more and wanting so much more I couldn't believe it was really over.

Gian is a great start to a new series! Who doesn't love a bad boy who seems to be the smitten kitten (thank you Phoebe Buffay) with a woman?

Gian is a capo in the Trassato crime family. He's a cold, calculating man who takes care of business. For the most part, until he meets Evie.

Evie is a friend of his sister's who is down on her luck and really needs a job. So Gian's sister pleads for him to give her a job. Evie ends up seeing something she shouldn't have in Gian's office and rather than "offing" her, Gian claims her. As long as she's claimed, she's safe from repercussions of what she saw.

So many twists and turns and it's such a great read.

This story sets a great tone to the family and how they are. I can't wait for Carmela's story!

A crappy year ends with a bang and results in a life changer for Evie. Suffering an injury that has stalled her Broadway career she became wrapped up in her fiance. Realising after a long time that he was a liar and a cheater Evie suddenly has to face facts. She needs to male a change. Calling upon her best friend she leaves and tries to put the broken pieces together. Things take an unexpected turn and she finds herself caught up in something bigger than she ever imagined...

Gian is the beginning of a story that I can't wait to read. I loved it!

Evie is a dancer.  She was injured during a performance and has been depending on her boyfriend ever since.  Until that boyfriend is caught cheating.  Evie's best friend Carmela tries to help her by getting her brother Gian to give Evie a job.  Evie and Gian are attracted to each other before they know who the other is, but when Evie sees something she isn't supposed to see Gian has to step up to protect her.

Mafia romance is becoming a new favorite of mine and Gian is a great addition to my list!  While it does focus on a mafia family, it isn't too intense for a first time reader.  Gian and Evie are fun characters with lots of chemistry.  This was a great read.

description

”You earn respect from your spouse with actions, not words. Always respect and listen to her because a real man takes care of his family. Be careful of lines crossed that can never be uncrossed. Every betrayal starts with trust. Every enemy starts as a friend. Every lie has a grain of truth. Behind every sin is a sinner.”

It was a good book, but the things I can’t get over are the missing words and typos in the sentences. I didn’t care about the first couple chapters but damn at the entire book.

A somewhat dark and mysterious character, Gian Trassato, lives a mobster life behind the scenes and is attracted to a woman unaware of his family's true lifestyle. Sure Evie is good friends with his sister but she has heard the rumors. Is there any truth to it? Take a ride on this journey that begins without trust and turns into something more. Carmela, Gian's sister, is so perceptive when it comes to her brother's relationships. Yes she is straightforward and yes she does figure things out.

I plan to read the next book in this series because Carmela deserves her own story. And this is a pretty good mafia story (fav genre) with very interesting characters. I gave it 4****.

This is not an easy one to write

I enjoy a good mafia storyline which is why I went for this one. Unfortunately, this is not so much a mafia story with an undercurrent of romance. This is a romance story, with an undercurrent of mafia.
For me, the storyline seemed odd. The behaviour of Gian's family towards Evie really bugged me. Evie's friendship with Carmela was one of the most annoying parts. It just irritated me how things worked out.
I couldn't get on board with the 'chemistry' between Gian and Evie. There were also a few situations where I just couldn't understand why people behaved in the manner they did.

Evie found her fiancée cheating on her with his protégé, saw the signs of cheating for a while bit let it go. Now after witnessing it she is taking her hurt on his cloths and other things but drinking is 2k bottles of wine. Her BFF comes to help her out, with a place to stay and a job at her brothers club. Gian (pronounced John) is the new capo in the family and never thought his firecracker of a sister will get him to stay away from her BFF will go down in flames when Evie sees something that she was never should have seen. Hope there will be more with these two.
