I originally didn’t want to put up the money to buy a book like this- so I checked it out from the local library... I ended up going back to it so many times during the first month of our worm farm start up I ended up buying it on amazon. It’s cheap, and yes he does repeat himself a bit- but if long term worm farming is the goal it’s a great little reference book to have.
Very easy to read, lots of information! Great book filled with everything you need to get started with worm composting from your apartment to the classroom. Discusses all the how to's and how nots and includes information on what to do if something goes awry in your bin. I used lots of the information here to create lessons for my 2nd graders :) Enjoy!
Perfect for anyone who wants to help the environment!
Loved the book! I cannot wait to begin my Worm Bin!! This easy to read and follow book is excellent for anyone who wants to help the environment and to grow healthier plants. It's also perfect for parents and teachers of young children.
I think it covered all the basics. I have a worm farm kit and didn't know if I was doing it right and had several questions that I had trouble finding solid answers. This book was easy to follow and covered everything I had questions about and then some.
Too simple to be charging 10$ for it. Giving 2 stars since it covered the basics, but that’s it. Very repetitive and felt like I was reading this as a 3rd grader. Basically could have gotten this info from any blog post written on this topic- if I’m shelling out $ I want more- maybe some history on the topic or more in depth explanations and details in a scientific format.
I am new to worm farming. This is my first book. I found this book very interesting and it was very easy to understand. It shows all the basics. I am confident that I can farm with confidence.
Wanted a book that would explain the process and point me to the correct items to purchase. This book has that information and much more. I now know what I need to start a small worm composting bin for my kitchen.
Factual, succinct, informative. I recommend. Easy access for newcomers, but still enough info for more experienced vermiculturists. Only suggestion maybe pdf plans for wooden boxes
Quick informative read. Some parts were repetitive - I mean, exactly copy-pasted from previous sections and when you read it in one go, those don't go unnoticed. Strangely, the last couple appendix sections summarize all info given in the book. Reading those few pages would be pretty enough; no extra knowledge is to be gained from the remaining book. Again, not that this book takes too long or something to read.. max 1-2 hrs, but still Appendix beats the rest of the book. Beginners can definitely give it a shot.
I have been bothered lately about the scarceity of earthworms in my range. When I was young they were in every scoop of soil. This book gave instructions, great instructions on how to grow my own. It's a pretty impressive manual.
Pretty easy reading for beginners - nice overview and will be a nice reference. The author is not coming off as a know it all, and makes it sound easy.
