This story is a disaster. I remember seeing a few negative reviews a year or so ago, but I have no idea what had happened to them. They are not here anymore. I should have known better. I should have paid heed to the warnings.

If you think this is about an archaeological dig, it's not. If you think it's about Creed and outstanding security services he provides, it's not. If you think there is a complicated story that involves dangerous gods and their immense powers, it's not.

This is about a bunch of horny teenagers in grown-up god and human bodies, who drink, f*ck like bunnies (I dare you to flag me for that word, when every other sentence in this book contains a profanity), tell each other tragic sappy stories about their past and run around with googly eyes, falling in insta-love and whispering saccharine nothings when not swearing. These are the Gods. These are tough and rough disciplined ex-military types.

Creed is hired to provide security for a group of archaeologists. He makes a huge deal over it while talking to his client. But what does he do when he gets to the site? Shouts, yells, throws a fit or two and then goes off on a drinking/banging spree first with a member of the dig, and not a couples of hours later with Loki. Creed is too full of himself, and "A limp dick bastard with a God complex" definition suggested by one of the characters describes him to a T.

And so it goes on, Creed and Loki traveling all over the place, bragging about their intelligence, drinking, banging, talking feelings (yuck... yuck.... sticky sugary stuff ...bleh *shrugs*). Everything falls into places when they need it, cause - Gods. They take care of that crap. And so on through now 75% of the book.

Then there is the issue with the Sleeper. Gods don't want him disturbed, keeping humans from breaking into the sealed chamber, but put the said chamber in an active volcano. What do you think will happen if the said volcano awakes? The seals will be broken, the Sleeper will rise. That's what. Gods Morons.

Strongly reminds me of The Student Prince. All party with little plot.

Still reading (can't believe myself). Will report on the rest later.

And so, I am sad to report that the story is not improving. Ancient gods, who waited literally hundreds of thousand of years for their one and only soulmate, are now rapidly finding them not only within the same week of 2015, but 2 out of three popped up at the same location. The Dig.



What are the odds? O.o

...and then there were poor puppies and poor abused boys and who knows what else, put there for the sole purpose of squeezing out a tear, creating more drama and producing more sap.



DNF-ing at 88%. Actually I did scroll to the end of the book, but couldn't concentrate on any of it.



PS I do know that the guy on the cover and in the book resembles Loki more than Tom Kittenston, but Tom is way too cool ;)

Different than what I usually read but I REALLY enjoyed this book!! Different take on Loki and the other types of gods and goddesses than I've heard before but at it's core this is just a loving romance between Loki and Creed.

Hope there will be more to follow this as I would like to hear more about Bisha and Hades stories.

Absolutely loved this book!

Well written love story between two unlikely men. A god and a security expert. At times it's funny and at other times, it will bring tears to your eyes in sadness. A few little editing errors, otherwise it was great. I will not hesitate to consider buying a sequel as there are several characters I look forward to reading their stories as well.

I love mythology so much that this book was really perfect for me. Though the narrator is the Norse god, Loki, the book quickly shifts into a third person past account of Loki’s story. The story revolves around a plot to uncover one of the gods who’s been buried due to being too dangerous to be on earth. Someone has been dropping clues to archaeologists and when a team finally goes out to do the dig, Loki and some other gods from various pantheons get together to formulate a plan to stop them. Though they formulate a plan, when Loki goes out to observe the archaeologists, he falls for a big, handsome man named Creed. Since Creed is special and is able to see him and the other gods which forces the gods, they are forced to revise their plan. As the story unfolds Loki and Creed fall in love and realize they cannot live without one another.

I admit that I didn’t know exactly what to expect from this book since the title seemed a little generic. However, I have to say that I was quite pleased with it overall. In the beginning the large cast of characters was a bit confusing, but after the love interest was introduced everything came into place. Additionally, the main plot seemed to pause in the middle as the relationship between Creed and Loki unfolded. Since there were so many pantheons represented, I liked that the author included little myth reminders which clarified the god’s significance. Though I loved the mythology aspect, one of the great things about this book was the sweetness of Loki and Creed’s relationship. I really loved Loki’s character, and I had tears in my eyes on several occasions. I recommend this book to anyone who loves myth-based M/M Romance, and M/M Fantasy.

A new favourite

I really enjoyed reading this, almost didn't want it to end. Loki was a blast and all the other characters were fun.
I love mythology, so while there was a fair bit of bending of the myths as we know them, it was fun to have the different gods exist in the same universe. I'm so looking to the next book (there had better be a next book.....

Absolutely stellar! As a fan of both mythology and romance, this book was a real treat! The characterizations of pantheons were cool and very tongue-in-cheek. The romance was delightful and charming - Loki and his mortal soul-mate, Creed, were a lovely set of star-crossed lovers. This story is truly just all-around wonderful.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I happened across this book, but I will say I was surprised and completely extremely happy with the story. This new take on the ancient gods was riveting, seeing the interactions and relationships they had with one another. Mother Earth being in the mix was a great touch. The world building was spectacular as was the character development. Some minor editing in a couple spots, but not enough to distract from the story, IMO. I have always been a fan of Loki, and this book made me like him even more. I highly recommend this book, and the only disappointment is, although Loki and Creed's story is tied up, there are other side characters who were left open for stories and adventures of their own, where these two would be back involved again, and they seem to have never been written or published. Such a shame. This does not detract at all, however, from reading this book.

Great book

This book was a fun, sweet, and awesome book. I love it from the beginning to the end. I hope the author writes a second book, would love to see Hades and Jonas story.

400+ pages is always intimidating to me, as I am a little (or a lot) ADDHD. But this was a fast fun action filled read. Creed and Loki were interesting together since Creed is an alpha male ex special ops soldier and Loki is a warrior god. Expected more male posturing as to who would be the top dog, but they actually worked as partners together from the beginning. Great story about the gods and pantheons with the history given just enough as to how this fictional world works and was created. Would like more of the gods stories.

Really good story and I like that the different pantheons work together and some are friends.

Seeing a different side of Loki and how the gods were created definitely added to the story. It entertained and made you think. The romance between Creed and Loki, while fast, was engaging and didn't seem fast at all. Finding out a certain secret Loki kept was definitely something that could be plausible. Mother Earth, Gaia, definitely was my favorite.

I enjoyed the mythos and I really want to read Hades' and Bisha's stories now. :) Could that happen? Please?

Creed and Loki were a satisfying couple, and I love the world-building in the book! I'm a big fan of mythology, so that was definitely a plus! However, the book dragged in the middle, and the ending was awkward - it was like the author was going to make a series of other god-kissed stories but never got around to it, so now we're left with so many loose ends. Still, it was a good late summer read.

I love some good ol'-fashioned mythology, so this seemed like a good book to pick on a whim. And while Hunter's take on mythology isn't at all traditional, it made for an awesome read! The gods are real, and Loki is on a mission given by Gaia herself--the Mother. Someone is conspiring to release one of the Sleepers, which could spell doom for humanity, and it's up to Loki, with help from some allies, to stop it.

The plot may not be completely unique and original, but the characters hooked me right away, as did the world of pantheons and gods that Hunter creates. Loki and Creed get sucked into an unexpected relationship that could've been a sad case of insta-love, but that pitfall is avoided, and instead their relationship is sweet and romantic despite the whirlwind of it. This definitely feels like the start of a series, and I really hope we get more of it!
