An interesting book on nutritional facts (shocking) but I actually enjoyed reading it. It is straight to the point, but still has a bit of detailing if you really want to get into a specific aspect. The best part is the fact that the chapters very well sectionalized, making it easy to find what you are looking for and go back to when you need it. Overall a clear, useful, informative and I must say quite pretty book.
Chapters : 1)Nutrition & Health (with an interesting part about Food as/with/versus Medicine) 2) The Body (all about Digestion, Metabolism and body-parts specificities) 3) Nutrients (this one is quite self-explanatory) 4) Eating (Food, Drinks and Diets) 5) Ailments and allergies (you don't need me to explain what in there)
Bought this as part of the “Work it out” HumbleBundle. I expected that part of the bundle would be rather new agey, CAM or pseudo-science. So I had no expectations when I started this book. It was good, interesting, might even be useful as a reference.
Eating whole food instead of manufactured foods relieves a lot of discomfort and serious health problems. Preservatives and such are chemicals. Our health is more important than following trends and believing ads.
This is the first book I have read about nutrition. It gives basic information on macro-nutrients, vitamins and gives a general advice on how to eat healthy food. The best chapter for me was at the end of the book, where the author explained how to eat well.
Eat fruits of and vegetables of all colors. Choose variety. Choose nutrition dense food. Fish, whole grains, low fat diary, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Eat food as close to unprocessed as possible.
This book did a really great job at teaching me about nutrition. The information wasn't biased towards any specific diet or food, which you sometimes need to watch out for in nutrition books. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about nutrition and what it does to your body.
I couldn't put this book down! It answered so many questions about nutrition. It went through all that the body needs to not only survive but thrive. The book explains about every vitamin and mineral. It explains what too much of a nutrient can cause and not enough of it. It teaches about illnesses and how to eat to help eliminate the symptoms and avoid further illness. This is just an excellent book. I learned so much and feel so encouraged about eating whole foods and avoiding processed foods. I will probably read it many times over and use it as a reference book.
