Tempting and volatile; he’s the hottest thing that never should have happened to me.
It was supposed to be a one-time thing; my one one-night stand. He's the tattooed, bareknuckle fighter with a body built for sin who I found beaten and bloodied in my elevator that night. He's the one I patched up, the one I took care of, and the one I apparently couldn’t say no to when his mouth touched mine…
A one night stand. Just one night, right?
Yeah, wrong, because I just found out my “mysterious stranger” is actually going to be my brother-in-law in half an hour.
Logan f**king Dempsey. The arrogant, panty-melting, rude and crude Marine-turned-billionaire who runs my late father’s company. He’s my new boss. He’s the best man in this wedding. He’s everywhere, and I can’t escape him.
No matter how wrong it might be…
*****
Holy f*ck. Of all the girls in all the world, she has to be the random chick who found me that night and saved my f*cking life?
She looked strangely familiar that night. Now that I know who she is, it’s like original sin staring me in the face.
Good-girl doctor, totally off-limits Quinn Archer is literally the last girl on the whole damn planet a screwed-up guy like me should have anything to do with. I know this, I swear I do.
There’s playing with fire, and then there’s sticking your hand in the flames. If I keep ignoring the rules, we’re both going to get burned. It’s just…
Yeah, f*ck the rules; she’s gonna be mine.
***This is a standalone book with a HEA, though there are plot threads that continue through the full series.***
Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Aubrey Irons enjoys writing about bold, sassy, and intelligent women and the hot, cocky, and quite typically forbidden bad boys who love and lust for them. Gripping stories, guaranteed happy ever afters, and LOTS of heat.
In the real world, Aubrey is kept plenty entertained by her own favorite bad boy husband, their two adorable kiddos, and the world's most ill-behaved puppy.

I could NOT finish this one. The heroine and the bad attitude she had the whole time? Yeah, that bothered me and how she was towards the hero. I skimmed to the end and saw a tiny twist with another character who the hero lets the heroine think is some chick who wants him and possibly there might have been something there. But! Nope! It's something else. I really didn't like that the hero let that play along to the very end and then someone else tells the heroine. Ridiculous. And WHY are the characters STILL cutting one another off when they are talking? Or NOT finishing their sentences? That drove me nuts.
I'm skipping book 3... I'm not really interested in reading about the 'villain' having his own story with one of the sisters. Book 4 was the one book I TRULY wanted to read and so that's where I'm at now and I REALLY LIKE IT! I know- SHOCKER! :)
Looks like this may be part of a series and I didn't realize I was reading the 2nd book. I'll have to read the first book to fill in the gaps. Good book, pretty hot. I kinda like that it is a brother-in-law thing and not one of those stepbrother taboo romance (which I love stepbrother romances and technically stepbrothers are NOT a taboo) is refreshing.
Plus I LOVE the cover. Feel free to take off that sweatshirt all the way, Logan!
This book is one of those that sticks with you always, the way the author described the settings made it feel like you are the one inside the book ! The teasing, yearning, blissful plot was incredibly done well!! Who doesn't love a military bad boy? Except when they are going to be related to you..and soon? Was it wrong place wrong time ? Or maybe the right place right time ? Especially now that Logan has Quinn on his radar and he's not finished with this steamy one night stand!! This features an awesome heroine and a Sexy military man what can get better? This book can be read as a stand alone and has a hea. I got this book Free in return of an honest review. It's highly recommended by Alpha Loving Erotic Book Beauty
4.5* I really enjoyed this story, it had me hooked from the very beginning, and if I hadn't needed to sleep. I could of easily read this story in one sitting. The story itself was full of banter, especially at the beginning when Quinn finds out her one night stand was Logan Dempsey. A guy she has not seen in five years, and one whose brother (in arms) is about to marry her younger sister Reagan. Then Quinn finds out her new job at her dad's old company means working directly with Logan. Which is bad enough, but on top of that she can't stop remembering their one night together. It doesn't help that Logan is without doubt the most infuriating, cocky. gorgeous and did I mention cocky guy she has ever met!
Aubrey Irons really ramps up the sexual tension between these two, before they do finally get together. However it is not all plain sailing as both Quinn and Logan have secrets which could turn out to be deadly.
This story is definitely worth reading, and can be read as a standalone but would be better enjoyed after reading Heat (Reagan and Hudson's story) and certainly worth trying if you love a hero whose a fighter, with a cocky attitude and a dirty mouth!!! :-)
I wanted more from Logan and Quinn. I don't know what, but I felt like something was missing. I loved Logan. Although I wanted to strangle him sometimes for being cocky. Like too much. Quinn never thinks before she speaks. She goes around and hurt Logan. Its irritating, but I love her for saving him. I really don't get why they fight their feelings so much. I get bored and I start feeling like cheering "Come on" over and over again. Do I like Quinn and Logan more than Hudson and Reagan? I truly don't know, but I think its a draw!
DNF. And I'm a person that ALWAYS finishes a book once I start. But I could not make myself keep reading. The heroine was too annoying. It became infuriating to read how idiotically (is that a word?) she thought, spoke and acted. Especially for someone that is meant to be highly intelligent.
These types of stories aren't my favourite. But saying that Logan's back story was what sucked me in and kept me there. I'm enjoying this Soldiers of Fortune series more than I expected to.
Who doesn't love a military bad boy with a tender heart, fowl mouth and a sad history?
Burn is the second book in the A Soldier's of Fortune Romance and my first experience with Aubrey Irons writing.
Logan was injured when he met Quinn. She offered to help him with his wounds and from there they ended up spending a steamy one night stand. Quinn was unable to forget her sexy neighbor and the passionate night that they shared only to find out at her sister's Raegan wedding that Logan was her future brother in law and new boss. When they met, Logan discovered that the sexy doctor that he couldn't forget was Quinn and even worse that he was is still attracted to her.
A promise that he made to her father makes him want to stay away from her. Well, easier said than done. Logan couldn't stay away and he found ways to piss off Quinn, make her jealous or leave her wanting a repeat.
The book is quite slow in the first part but the constant teasing and challenge between Quinn and Logan even though seems childish it's funny and sexy. Their interactions are fantastic especially when both are yearning for more but do not dare to take, out of some misguided ideas.
The best part of the book is the slow reveal of Logan's past as a Marine, mercenary and later as Quinn's father protegee and future CEO of the company. At times it felt like I was peeling an onion. Logan was a bare knuckle fighter with a need for pain that Quinn cannot understand.
Slowly, in the second part of the book, Quinn comes to realize that there's more about Logan. Resisting him is almost impossible and eventually they start having a steamy affair.
I enjoyed the way Aubrey Irons brought all the lust between Logan and Quinn. The sexy times were HOT! Soon all the passion turned to feelings and a real relationship started to blossom. I loved how Quinn finally found her strength and fought for Logan. My favorite part was when Quinn understood how her father met and helped Logan.
In the end Logan's objection to being with Quinn was overruled by feelings. How cool is that?
A really fun and nice read, a lot of hot sexy scenes and a dirty talking bad boy. Even though "Burn" can be read as a stand alone novella and not much is connected to the first book, I will go now and purchase "Heat" so I can understand Raegan and Hudson's story.
This copy of the book was kindly provided by the author to me prior to the launch. I was unable to read or write a review at the time but I thank you Aubrey Irons for entrusting me with your work. I have truly enjoyed reading it.
Let's mix a bruised fighter, a compassionate doctor, a hot attraction and a whole lot of naughty behaviour, and you'll get burned in the best way.
What I liked most about the story is the premise of injured man-in-distress saved by the healing woman who later ends up being the daughter of his mentor. That made for a fun load of banter and teasing.
The writing style is very casual, the characters won't be honest to each other about their politically incorrect feelings, and the heat between them is as intense as the secrets that Logan keeps for doing what he does with his fighting skills.
One thing I disliked is the fact that the author abuses the use of cursive. It's a bit disruptive for the reading flow.
The constant challenge between Quinn and Logan is childish at times, yet most of the time is hilarious and sexy. Though one of the best elements is the dramatic edge that Logan's past life as soldier and mercenary gives to his character. I really liked how he met William Archer, Quinn's dad, and all that he meant in changing Logan's future. Additionally, the steamy times between Logan and Quinn are really fantastic. Especially when all the lust and barriers make way to a real bond, real feelings that translate to a beautiful and honest relationship. What started as flirting, actually turned into a passionate mix of action, redemption and finding the way to love and freedom. An entertaining read, for sure.
After having it on my to-read list for several months, I decided to give Burn by Aubrey Irons a chance. It was my first book by her (as far as I recall) and it definitely had me at a crossroads.
The story was, quite surprisingly to me, a really good one. Not over the top cheesy, or the typical romance stuff (bad boy fighter hooks up with prim and proper daughter of his boss). I actually suspected exactly that when I read the excerpt and saw some reviews for this book. For that, I'm really thankful I've given it a chance because even though Logan had been a little too annoying and too much of a prick towards Quinn, she actually showed some spine and put him in his place when needed (or at least tried to).
All in all, the book would've easily gotten a 4-star rating from me, if not for one thing... Holy moses didn't an editor check this book before publishing?
There were literally SO many spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, some even just little typos that could've easily been fixed had the book been proof-read once. I mean, I did find them and english isn't even my first language.
So for that, I sadly have to remove a star from my initial rating. But since the storyline was a pretty good one, I'll definitely continue this series. :)
This is the second book in a Soldiers of Fortune romance. This book is the story of Logan and Quinn. Logan is a friend of Hudson and Quinn is the older sister of Reagan, both of these characters from the first book Heat. Logan and Quinn engaged in a one night stand, only finding out who each other are at the wedding between Hudson and Raegan. Logan is still attracted to Quinn but, due to promises he made, feels that he can't pursue her. This doesn't stop Logan from engaging Quinn in sexy banter and just trying to piss her off or make her jealous. You don't need to read the first book in order to enjoy the second however, there are some intertwining plots that occur within the story. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first book by Aubrey Irons and WoW!!! The interaction between the lead characters bounced back and forth between Artic freeze and Sahara blast furnace so much it about made me dizzy. Still, it was captivating and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Quinn Archer, MD is trying to forget the one night stand she had a week earlier with her upstairs neighbor when she meets the man again at her sister's wedding. Logan Dempsey is the brother in arms of the groom, a man her father groomed to run his company and her new boss, without the beard that concealed his identity earlier. He's also a late night bare knuckle fighter carrying some big secrets, and as badly as she wants to forget him and the wild night they shared, she wants just as badly to experience it again.
Blackmail to me is a form of evil. Being in love with a Dr. has its perks though, Hehehehe. Especially in a new relationship, they can bandage you up when you get all banged up. But what Quinn isn't aware of is why Logan even fights in the first place. The possibility of his past being exposed & him & his brothers being in huge trouble. Then they wouldn't be able to protect Quinn, Reagan, or Chelsea for William their savior. Now it Logan's turn not to have to worry. Especially thanks to Major Lawson again.
Thank-You Read via Soldiers of Fortune: The Complete Collection
oh my goodness hot and sexy ohhh and the dirty talk wow Quinn is a very strong headed woman she is stubborn as hell she is also sweet and ohh so sasssssy but when it comes to logan she is super stubborn but logan wont give up on her until she give in and he finely breaks that shell and when he does he has is hands full
You know that feeling you get when you start a new book? That feeling that takes over all your senses, making you forget about the life going on around you. That's what this book did for me. From the beginning it had me. I loved the suspense they went through to get to their destination. Then to make to through everything was amazing. This story was well written with great characters.
Read this series of books all back to back. Loved the 3 "brothers" Hudson, Logan and Bryce plus Javiers story. Cracking ex military - fast paced, rough + ready with plenty of sauce. What more could u want. Can't write much more without throwing in some spoilers - so won't but enjoy the read - read all 4 books in a couple of decent sittings.
wow Logan and Quinn these two characters have managed to take riding life's edges to literal . He's fighting to protect his past she's firefighting for their life's.
