The series takes a step back with a look at Lucy Kendall right after she made the decision to leave the Child Protective Services (CPS) agency. She's contacted by one of her former cases who's at risk friend is missing under strange circumstances.

I was so certain this story would help me unravel more of Lucy, helping me decide definitively if she's a true psychopath or just terribly misguided. While I gained a bit more insight, I'm even more conflicted about her!

The case is complex and also takes us inside the CPS, portraying its strengths along with what we know of its weaknesses. I was immediately captivated and couldn't put it down until I finished the story. The ending was a bit of a surprise, catching me a little off stride. Just the way I love it!

Green is proving she's a master at the mystery short storytelling with perfect pacing and nimble writing. And, she's created one of the most fascinating characters in Lucy Kendall.

Hear No Lies is a prequel to Stacy Green’s Lucy Kendall series, and my biggest problem with this novella is that it’s a novella. It’s just too short!

Lucy is just starting her “career” as a vigilante (she doesn’t consider herself a killer). Ever since her sister committed suicide because their mother refused to believe that her boyfriend was molesting her, Lucy has vowed to take revenge on men who prey on children.

As a former Child Protection worker, Lucy has seen some nasty stuff. So when a former client tells her of a teen who is missing, Lucy gets involved. Deeply involved. She recognizes the risks of putting herself in danger, and she does it anyway. Because kids matter, and the scumbags who hurt them don’t. The writing is as good as in any of the other books in the series. Stacy Green may appear to be an ordinary Iowa mom and housewife, but folks, this woman can write!

When young Shannon approached Lucy Kendall, Lucy had no idea what was to come – but her thoughts were only for the kids – the kids who slipped through the cracks; the kids who faced more than anyone should face, let alone young children. Shannon was one of her success stories from when she was in Child Protective Services – though Lucy was now a Private Investigator her first thoughts remained the same – the safety of the kids always came first. Shannon was worried about a friend she had been tutoring; Monique was missing and Shannon couldn’t find any trace of her.

Lucy knew the foster care system was flawed. She knew there were mistakes; she also knew they shouldn’t happen – tracing Monique became her priority. But when she checked out her last known address, Lucy was horrified to discover the brutally savaged body of a male in the kitchen. Was this why Monique was missing?

The police began their investigation and within a matter of days had discovered another body. But they couldn’t locate Monique. Lucy was determined to find her before the police did; she knew she had to help her. But what would she find? Would she find the girl alive or was it too late for her?

Hear No Lies by Stacy Green is a novella set prior to the first Lucy Kendall novel, All Good Deeds. I always enjoy Green’s work, and this one is no exception. The character of Lucy is extremely flawed, but her heart is in the right place. She works on both sides of the law, knowing that one day she could be caught. The twists and turns fill this fast paced novella with the chills making your heart race. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Hear No Lies.

With thanks to the publisher and author for my copy to read and review.

Fresh from leaving Child Protective Services and becoming a private investigator, Lucy Kendall has been dealing out her own brand of justice to the pedophiles that the system hasn't been able to stop. While observing the next predator on her list, Lucy sees Shannon, a young woman she helped place into the foster system. Shannon is searching for her friend, Monique, a sixteen year old girl who has disappeared from her foster home. She isn't answering her phone. She was last seen running away from the foster home, her shirt covered in blood. Wanting to help Shannon, Lucy makes it her priority to find Monique.

This is a prequel to the Lucy Kendall series. The novella is well written and actually surprised me at the end. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. My rating: 4 Stars.

Review: HEAR NO LIES by Stacy Green (Lucy Kendall Series, Prequel)

Lucy Kendall is a special category of individual. To some, she's just another sociopathic villain, a criminal. To others ( if they knew what she's done, and will do), she'd be a heroine-a sort of murderous Robin Hood, killing the pedophiles to protect the innocent. Yes, Lucy is a sociopath, formed that way in childhood. Yes, Lucy murders--according to her own perspective of right and wrong. In this prequel to the series, Lucy mixes into a scary case where much is wrong and very little is right--where many are at fault and only a very few are helpful, or righteous. A one-sitting read, HEAR NO LIES is enormously suspenseful.

This was an awesome prequel Novella for Stacy Green's intense Lucy Kendall series! In this novella we first meet Lucy. Discussed and hardened from her experiences working for the Child Protective Services, and enraged at its failures, she has just began her vigilante life, performing her kind of justice against the pedophiles the system has failed to stop. Lucy is enlisted by a desperate teen to find her friend who is lost within the foster system, Lucy is pulled into a high stakes race to find the teen and the truth.
Once again, Stacy Green will take your breath away with this fast paced race for justice!

HEAR NO LIES (LUCY KENDALL:#0.5)

Written by Stacy Green
2015, Twisted Minds Press (101 Pages)
Genre: series, fiction, psychological thriller, suspense, mystery, gritty

Rating: 4 STARS

This is the prequel to the Lucy Kendall series, but it is technically written after book three, and is how I read it in this series. In Hear No Lies, we meet Kendall right as she has left the Child Protective Services (CPS) agency to become a private investigator. As a teen turns to Lucy to help find her friend that has essentially been let down by the CPS we can feel a bit of what drives Lucy now. A great novella that I don’t think should be missed as just filler to keep fans drawn to the series.

She's no killer. She's just taking out the trash.

I rarely read mysteries anymore but the blurb really sold me on this novella, and it didn't disappoint. Lucy is a former CPS worker, who left after being frustrated with the system one too many times. She's now a private investigator who makes it her business (albeit not publicly) to track down the pedophiles and abusers who target foster kids.
Very well written. I have to admit, I didn't see the twist until the last second. Great job author! 5 stars

Hear No Lies
Series: Lucy Kendall series

Synopsis:

She’s covered in blood and on the run.

Months before the events of ALL GOOD DEEDS (Book 1 of the Lucy Kendall thriller series), Lucy Kendall is still adjusting to her secret life as a vigilante killer of pedophiles. She’s circling her next target when a desperate teenager begs for help finding a friend lost in the foster care system.

Jaded and still stung from her experiences with Child Protective Services, Lucy searches for the missing girl and discovers the teen’s foster parent lying dead in his kitchen.

Lucy knows the police will arrest first and ask questions later. Determined to save the runaway before she hurts someone else, Lucy sets off on her own investigation.

The stakes are high, and the consequences may be too dire to survive.

Review:

I must say, I have never been disappointed by Stacy Green and her writing, and I am happy to report this title is no exception. It is interesting to actually take a step back in the sequence of the Lucy Kendall series and read this prequel to All Good Deeds after having read the first three books in the Lucy Kendall series.

The reader is taken back in time when Lucy’s departure from Child Protective Services (CPS) is still fresh. As a disillusioned social worker, Lucy is now on her own dispensing justice to those she sees as unworthy and having escaped punishment through the traditional route (pedophiles) or just have not been caught as of yet. Interesting since Lucy is herself a killer. How can she make the call who should be punished and who should not?

Lucy is scoping out the next predator to dispense with and she recognizes ‘Shannon’, a young woman (who is in fact too young to be in the bar). Lucy approaches Shannon. Through discussions, Lucy finds out that a close friend of Shannon’s, Monique, is missing. Wanting to help Shannon, Lucy embarks upon the task of finding out what happened to Monique. There are many twists and turns (a few caught me totally off guard)….but isn’t that what makes a great mystery? Keep the reader guessing and engaged.

I really enjoyed getting a bit more background on Lucy and her motivation for her actions. It is odd to want to cheer for Lucy and what she does since she is in fact a serial killer herself….going after pedophiles. This additional background adds some needed depth of story to the series.

As always, I enjoy the writing of Stacy Green and will wait patiently for the continuation of this series. Or I may just have to continue on reading other titles by Stacy Green as I enjoy her style SO much. A quick, enjoyable and well written addition to the Lucy Kendall series.

Hear No Lies is a novella of 101 pages and it is indeed a thriller. It is the prequel to the Lucy Kendall series and it did not disappoint.

Stacy Green always produces a well written and well paced thriller with Lucy Kendall as the conflicted protagonist. Is she right or wrong in her pursuit and punishment of pedofiles? Does she do the wrong thing for the right reasons and how do her actions and decisions affect law enforcement and the people she is sincerely trying to help?

It's a wild ride with Lucy as she weaves herself in and out of a teenager's secrets and deranged mind, with bodies strewn along the way...bloody bodies.

After having read all of the Lucy Kendall series, I am not sure that I like Ms Lucy Kendall, but I certainly can relate to her attempts to make the world a better place for the young.

This is a prequel novella to the 1st book, All Good Deeds, in the Lucy Kincaid series. I received a free copy of the book for an honest review. I have been very lucky to have reviewed several of Ms Greene's books in this and her other series. She is a great writer that carries you through page turning in her books! This novella gives you more understanding to Lucy and why she has turned into a serial killer, a serial killer that most admire! After working with child protective services, Lucy knows the flawed system. She starts taking the lives of those people who have gotten away in some way or another from justice! Follow along with this great introduction to Lucy, and then pick up All Good Deeds and continue. You can't go wrong with this novella!

Hear No Lies (A Lucy Kendall Prequel Novella)
Totally thrilling read.
Having read and enjoyed all of the Lucy Kendall Series I was eager to read the Prequel.
Story opens brilliantly with Lucy about to take out “the trash”. But seeing Shannon, Lucy quickly changes tack and goes to help her. This is what makes Lucy different from serial killers, her first thought is to help the children, then kill the baddies afterwards.
Fascinating character, written so expertly you have empathy for Lucy. Brilliant story, well written.

Stacy book is a well written story about Lucy's reasons for doing what she does.

The story opens with Lucy in a bar trying to see that another pedophile meets his maker, but before she can complete the mission, she spots a girl who had been one of her placements at CPS, too young to be in such a place. She confides her fears to Lucy about a missing friend who was last seen limping down the street in a bad part of town with blood all over her shirt. This girl, too, is supposed to be under the care of CPS. Lucy jumps in head and heart first to help and when she discovers the dead body of the man the girl had been living wit, it only makes the disappearance seem more suspect. As Lucy works her way through her network of friends and associates she realizes little has changed since her departure from CPS and it will be up to her to unravel the mystery. Can she put her past experience with the system and her PI skills to work to solve this disappearance in time or will it be too late? Is the girl a murderer or just another victim of the system? I was given given a copy of Hear No Lies for an honest review and this is my review
I really enjoyed this novella because it was in insight in what makes Lucy Kendall tick and why she became the female serial killer that kills in the name of good that she is in her other books. This was a nice introduction to Lucy and her way of thinking.
In this book her legitimate case was trying to help find a girl who fell through the cracks of Child Protective Services, the agency Lucy left because she did not like how things were getting done and felt she could get more done on her own. I am not going to give you any spoilers but this case has a number of twist and turns that keep Lucy busy and away from her sideline job of taking out the trash her own personal way. Mind you the trash she takes out is sex offenders that can't stop.
This novella is a must read if you want to know the origins of how Lucy Kendall got her start. I am giving this novella five out of five stars.

I had already read the first book in this series, All Good Deeds and thought it was a good book. Hear No Lies gives some more information about what motivates Lucy in her quest to deliver justice. Lucy Kendall is a serial killer, who justifies her actions because she only kills bad guys who deserves it. After leaving Child Protective Services, Lucy Kendall tracks down, stalks and then kills pedophiles who continue with their evil behavior.

Lucy Kendall is the female version of Dexter, and picks and chooses her victims based on their evil. In Hear No Lies, Lucy and her team try to help an at risk child who is desperately fighting for her life. Stacy Green has an easy to read writing style, with great description that gets and holds your attention. You find yourself cheering for a serial killer. This novella is a short and quick read – Enjoy!

*I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.*

This is a prequel novella to the Lucy Kendall series. It tells a side story that gives a little bit of background into why Lucy became what she became. It's not so much a focus on her current path, but what pushed her that way. There's a little background about her time with CPS and some of the people she dealt with there. It's a nice addition to the series, but definitely not necessary to enjoy the full novels.

Full review will be up on my blog soon.

This is the beginning of the Lucy Kendall series. Lucy transitions from her job at CPS (Child Protective Services) to P.I. She is also developing her other persona as a one person Child predator justice system. Lucy has already taken care of one child predator and is in the process of eliminating another one when she is stops to help one of her "children" from her CPS days. This is a fast pace novella that grabs you from the beginning and takes you on a ride thru the child protective services and justice systems. Can Lucy help the young and stay out of legal trouble herself?

This was a great novella prequel to the other books in this series. This book gives a little bit more background on Lucy. She is just starting her journey of killing pedophiles. While in a bar trying to get close enough to a pedophile to kill him, she spots Shannon trying to get a drink with a fake ID. Shannon is one of Lucy's past CPS cases. When she talks to Shannon she finds out that another foster child is in deep trouble and needs help, but will she take the help. This is a fast paced thriller and a quick read. I love this series!!

An awesome quick read! The beginning pages suck you in and you don't put it down until you've finished it. Lucy is back at her usual gig when an interest into her old CPS side comes along that she can't resist not getting involved in. Although I wish it would have been a tad longer finishing fully the Cody scene. I received a free copy of this for my honest review.

This book gives you the insight into who Lucy Kendall is and her secret life. It is very well written. I really enjoy Stacy Green's books but I have a hard time reading the subject matter of this book. I hate knowing there are people out there like that. It is hard reading about it too. Stacy has done a very good job with it.

I did really enjoy this but yet again (as with the first Lucy Kendall book), I was not a fan of how it ended.
Lucy's attitude towards helping kids is really inspiring, however how she judged the situation in this book (and ended up handling it) made me dislike her somewhat!
