The good news: curvy Jean has finally found a handsome and powerful man who is ready to have her baby... he goes by the name of Vel.
The bad news: Vel is a Velociraptor shifter from a mysterious island, one which her and her paleontologist friends have crash landed their boat on.
Now stuck on a dangerous island with all the other dinosaur shifters seeing humans as nothing more than food, Jean must carry the scent of a dinosaur to make it across the island to safety.
The only reliable way to do that?
To have a dinosaur shifter baby growing inside her belly.
And if that means she has to be Vel's mate in order to ensure she survives, so be it!
But with her new baby growing at an accelerated rate and the baby father's friends all trying to eat her, can Jean stay alive long enough to enjoy her new family life?

Read this with Short Book Book Club to cover the paranormal romance genre. I wasn’t expecting magic to be a central part of the plot.. or feminism? At least I think that was feminism..

This was wild and not in the best of ways… I’m not sure if it started as a joke or what, but it had an interesting premise, it just never got any better.
My book club selected this under the banner of our February theme "bad romance." This meets and exceeds all of the expectations. It was terrible. Everything about it from beginning to end. I know some folks are prepared to give 5 stars just because it's so epically bad, but I can't do it.
This is the worst book I have ever read but wow- Jane you crazy for this one!! I wish I could summarize the plot for you but I genuinely don’t know what it even is besides the MC repeatedly hooking up with a dino shifter named VAL THE VELOCIRAPTOR!! 🦖🥵 Instead, I’d like to share some excerpts from this impactful novel:
Main plot summarized in one sentence:
“Is any of this discussion going to lead to me taking you off to some cave by ourselves and getting me laid?” he asked her then.
AN EXPLANATION OF HOW THIS FINE ASS MAN CAN CHANGE INTO A DADDY DINO, YOU SAY?!
“There are twelve hunters currently in the tribe, and the other fifty people are a mix of mankind in various evolutionary stages. I really don’t know how that works, like I said”.
OK..OK…BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SMUT?! SURELY THATS TOP NOTCH, RIGHT?! 🥴
“Sure, she’d always kind of liked dinosaurs, but that didn’t mean she wanted to become one’s mate.”
“Tall, handsome and surprisingly smart for a dinosaur.”
Hmmm… ok is there at least a positive takeaway from this story if there is zero plot and the smut is laughable? SURPRISINGLY YES BB!! JANE SAID HOLD MY DRINK WATCH THIS?!-
“You’re telling me that a psychic tyrannosaurus is going to notice us trying to escape and eat us so we can’t get away?” Brad It’s past time that the women became just as capable as the men. Seeing this girl, and others like her, it’s easy to realize women are much stronger than the ancestors supposed. She shall teach everyone to become more like her. The strength of the people fails because only half of them participate in its maintenance.”
“Could there be anything more beautiful than a woman exhibiting her strength and determination? If so, Vel had yet to see it.”
FEMINISM FOR THE MOTHAFUCKIN WIN!!!
Finally, I will leave you with this beautiful piece of writing that pretty much summarizes my thoughts on this work. It is a direct quote from the actual book.
“She could seem to erase the smile on her face the entire way.”
That’s basically it right there. Great plot idea. Not much put into writing it. Very little detail or characterization of the characters or the scenes. No build up or true emotion. The sex scenes were bare bones and the whole thing was just blah writing. Would not recommend beyond a curiosity read if you’re extremely bored.
