Let me start of with full disclosure type thing: I FUCKING LOVE Jeff O'Brien. For starters, he's an absolutely awesome guy. He's perhaps even a better writer. Once again, this isn't some super high brow reading, but YOU read the Bigboobenstein series and tell me there are no life lessons to be learned! This man can write some VERY empowering women. While the story itself is super fun and quick to read, those looking for a more serious theme can get it here. Or not. Totally up to the reader. But I personally LOVE Adelaide and her kick ass and take names approach to life. Er...undeath may be a better word. She is the epitome of the strength, courage and smarts that women today seem to be sorely lacking. And, if you've read this, or are thinking about reading this one, I'm sure you already know that poor Addy went through a HELL of a lot to get the confidence she has in spades in this second installment of the series. Addy started off very shallow and complacent, eager to do ANYTHING for her boyfriend. But, as they say 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned,' and this series illustrates that very well. Seriously, if you haven't read O'Brien yet, you're missing out. GET YA SOME! NOW!!!

(SPOILERS FROM THE FIRST BOOK OF THE SERIES, "BIGBOOBENSTEIN")

I fucking love this man.

When I see him in person (and God help me, I'll see him in person), I'll plant a kiss right on his bald, beautiful head.

Here he brings us the continuation of his epic tale "Bigboobenstein". Here, while enjoying a pleasant marital unlife, our hero Adelaide is once again pulled out from her comfort zone and thrown into a world of reanimated corpses, horny trolls and now, evil luscious martian chicks.

I found this book less fulfilling than the first one, but it was a delight nevertheless. Lots of the stuff you love about B-movies: Delicious babes, campy dialogue, scary bizarre monsters, more delicious babes, SEX, and the notion that a giant dong is what makes the world go 'round.

If you want a fun book to pass the time on a lazy afternoon, THIS ONE IS IT!

This one and the first Boobenstein book are both totally entertaining, well done, and easy to read. I finished them before I knew it, and at the close of each I was smiling and wanting more. Good stuff.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, more so than the original. The original, while good, didn't offer quite what I was looking for. I found what I was looking for in Groom. Schlocky B-Movie madness with doses of comedy. O'Brien brought characters back from the original and gave me more of a reason to root for them. It's an odd thing when a sequel makes you appreciate the original more. I feel like O'Brien found his stride in this one, as far as this series goes. There's still his trademark message of acceptance, but it didn't come off as too preachy. I also appreciated that he didn't make the Pastor in this one the stereotypical hate mongerer, it was a nice touch and added some realism (I mean, not all clergy can be villains right?).
O'Brien is a writer who makes me question my ethics. Am I open enough? Do I accept enough? What is morally wrong and right? As long as someone is a good person, shouldn't they be happy and left alone? These are questions I feel O'Brien has a talent for answering, sometimes subtly (again he doesn't come off as preachy), and I appreciate him for it. 4.5 stars. Seriously one of the most talented indie writers I've discovered.

hohoho this book was fun, if you love the old B-Movies with large breasted women, aliens, zombies, trolls, violence and sex then you gotta read this series. This book takes all the best bits of those movies and crams them into one book.

In this instalment BigBoobenstein is living a blissful life, until one day when a UFO comes along and puts a spanner in the works. One then happens is one crazy plot with twist after twist featuring the birth of a pink blob. (surely that should be enough to make you read this).

I think there is one more in this series, hoping Jeff keeps on writing them, and then make the movie.

What could be more fun than BigBoobenstein? Why Groom of BigBoobenstein, of course! Wild and wacky author Jeff Ö'Brien simply couldn't leave well enough alone. He had to go and give Adelaide and Ron another story. What begins with a date night of the midnight showing of Frankenhooker and an innocent visit to the ice cream shack turns into a crazy adventure that ends with more undead, a squirt gun, virgin sex and my personal favorite undead porn. Ö'Brien never misses his mark, seamlessly stitching the story together -- well okay, maybe there are seams -- but they are good, tight ones that make for a story that is a lot of fun to read with many out loud laughs. And he leaves us at least three great openings for future books in the franchise. Expect a lot more from Ron and Adelaide and their little gang of the undead. And expect new parts of the story to be out of this world. But for now, just sit back and enjoy. For those of you who haven't read BigBoobenstein, it is possible to understand this book and enjoy it, but trust me, you are truly missing something if you don't go back to the beginning and really enjoy it all. I very much look forward to what Ö'Brien has planned for the happy couple.LITTLE SPOILER But I just have one question--what do you send an undead couple as a wedding/housewarming preset?

This is a sequel. Many theories have been made about sequels. Ignore them. I will tell you to read BigBoobenstein first - it should be read by everyone. Although, you can read this by itself with out any lack of clarity, they flow very nicely into each other. I wasn’t surprised though, I had learned the trick of reading Jeff O’Brien – he has a message, there is a valuable subtext, a point he is trying to get across; in other words, he is writing for a reason. This book is about the nature of desire: wanting, needing, lust, and passion. Yes, it is also about reanimated corpses, trolls, Martians, talking hernias, and teen masturbatory ritual. There is a beautiful homage to the classic Frankenstein movies, and when I say beautiful, I really mean odd and creepy – in that disturbing but fun way. The story was fast paced and full of unexpected turns. This will be a trilogy by the time I post this, so I am off to read Daughters of BigBoobenstein now, so catch up!

Loved every page of this book, I said it before and will say it again Jeff O'Brien has a wonderful style of witing.
I compared Jeff O'Brien with Stephen King, not from the writing but that's were I see him in a couple of years. But I've to say that is not completly right, he is more a crossover between Stephen King (the shocking horror parts of his books) and Sir Terry Pratchett (that are the funny pages).
The "best" parts of this book are the two interviews while I think the first one happened only in the authors head but the one in the end is real, but if they are real or not dosen't matter, because you get a little insight into the authors mind and that's something the "bigones" rarely do.

Again the BigBoobenstein saga is like a very, very good B-Movie and of course with a cheesy ending but the good thing about the ending is that the mothereffing saga continues with "The Daughters of BigBoobenstein" and if I got about a million ideas how the saga will go on I can't even imagine what he will make out of some interesting open plots in the book, ok the end is quite clear and we can read an other Boobenstein book, yay :D

Set two years after Boobs, Groom finds everyone happy and then of course all hell breaks loose. While the first book may have had a serious theme underlying it you can tell that O'Brien had a lot of fun writing this which makes it fun to read. This one is all about revenge and does actually contain a few horror elements that add to the overall style of the book. It seems as if O'Brien finally found his pace and where he wanted to go with the series. It all comes together here and if Groom were a Star Wars sequel it would be Empire Strikes Back.

How can you not enjoy a book that has martians in it? And it has sex and a vagina demon! A demon comes out of a woman's vagina after sex! Groom is a very well written follow up that again relies on more than laughs to carry the book. It proves that O'Brien is a talented writer with a really really fucked up sense of humor.

This is the 2nd book in the Bigboobenstein books, and you really need to read the first one for this one to follow the story, it is the same as the first, but this time with aliens.
It is weird but I like it, now onto the 3rd book Daughters of BigBoobenstein

Now with Martians!

Although I enjoyed the first book better, this one was still so fun that I couldn't stop turning the pages. It was wonderful to be back with these characters and follow them on another, delightfully bizarre adventure. Also, there's a big OMG moment in the epilogue that has me itching for the next book in the series.

For those who enjoy quirky, slightly raunchy comedies, the BigBoobenstein series is highly recommended.
