This book was a massive blessing for me. I’ve long had a doubt about how people within the Church have presented biblical “authority” whether it was discussed in terms of elders (which is the main theme of this book) or husband and wife relationships. I won’t spoil the rest of the book but rest assured the fault lies in the translation of the KJV of the Bible. Rediscover the beauty of biblical leadership that rejects the Worlds definitions in favor of God’s actual intention for leaders who bring peace, hope, and goodness with every step.

A good manual for apostolic ministers written in Bishop Barnard’s systematic, thoughtful, and straightforward manner. More practical than inspirational, it is very much useful. The last few chapters on vision, reward and philosophy were helpful in that he condensed some common advice around personal vision statements (and the like) and put it to work in a biblical/ministerial framework (rather than a self fulfillment framework).

Great book, especially for young ministers. I think everyone should memorize the chapter on time management. Rev. Bernard offers a great survey of all the different aspects of life that a minister should be concerned about.

Superb how-to manual for church leadership in our time! Dr. Bernard is transparent in his presentation of the ministry, highlighting the secular and spiritual aspects evenly. Every minister needs to read this book!
