Scarlet has been damaged since she saw her father murder her mother when she was seven years old. Growing up, Cash was her only friend, and the two played together before tragedy struck her family. After being tossed around in different foster homes, she went back to the old neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia and crossed paths with her childhood friend, Cash. No matter what Scarlet does, Cash just can't seem to let go. He feels the need to be the one consistency in her life. Veronica has been in love with Cash since high school, and she can't seem to understand why he won't make things official - until she finds out about Scarlet. Veronica knew that Scarlet was weak, so she called in her drug dealing cousin to get Scarlet out of the way. Ronny fell in love with Scarlet, but he will never be the object of her affection. He is the type that will do just about anything to have what he wants. He never meant for things to go completely sour; he just wanted to keep her drugged up so her mind would be gone.
Scarlet was just doing way too much for me. She was back and forth between way to many men. Then Ronny slips up and fall in love. Veronica is crazy. Just wayyyy to much going on.
This book had me all kind of confused. The story didn't really flow for me. The transition between major events were almost nonexistent. The POV switched throughout the story and it didn't really read like a book. At times it read like someone was telling a story to a friend. Scarlet was a damaged individual, I didn't like her character at all. She lived her life using people and hurting their feelings. I liked Cash and I wanted him to let Scarlet go so bad, I didn't want Veronica to have him either. He was a good kid that wanted to live life right but Scarlet definitely brought out the worse in him. Veronica was a complete nut case and her cousin Ronny wasn't any better. Their relationship creeped me a little bit. I'm not sure if there will be a part 2 or not. If there is I probably won't read it. I've had enough of Scarlet. The author just needs to study her craft a little more before putting out part 2.

This book had no good flow. The author didn't provide any sense of timing. For example, supposedly they had just recently graduated high school, but Cash drops out of medical school. WTF???
And, someone please give the author a clue about geography. When Scarlet was doing the back and forth thing with Jessie, the author stated they were in San Francisco. A few paragraphs later they are heading to Roscoe Chicken & Waffles. San Francisco doesn't have one. Then when Scarlet did the video with the local rapper, the author again stated they were in San Francisco. But, a few paragraphs later Jessie and Scarlet are rolling down Hollywood Blvd.
Wow this wasn't wat I expected. But it was a good read.I loved the relationship Cash and Scartlet had a children and now as adults also.I can't believe Cash's mother would go that far to say the things she did.I didn't like Veronica at all she was I really don't know who she is.But I can't wait for part two I didn't like Ronnie at all either.Cant wait to see wat Cash does
1st read by Ashley Williams. Scarlett was a troubled young lady who was traumatized at an early age. I felt Cash was truly a saint to put up with her reckless behavior & he proved that his love for her was real & their bond was strong... I can only hope she's learned her lesson & will make the best of their relationship. On to part 2 to see if she has changed her ways for the better.
Great read. A well written story with an interesting twist on how early childhood trauma can affect your whole life. Ashley Williams has done a very good job keeping the reader well engrossed in the story of Scarlet and Cash. Can't wait for the next part.
I really like this story... Scarlet has a lot of issues she needs to deal with... I love how Cash never left her side. Their love is real. That crazy Veronica is something else... I'm ready for part 2.. Because I know it's going to be serious..
