I remember lending this at a library, when I was around 13/14 (they only had this story, Will's story and Irma's story), and then just being swallowed by it. Oh boy do I love this book. Much more than the others. Why? Cornelia was just an insta-fave character of mine in the W.I.T.C.H universe, because she reminded me of me. I had waist-long ash-blonde hair, and did figure skating back then, so I just connected a lot with her.
But I have to be honest and admit that I don't remember much of this story, but I would love to re-read this and read the two others as well. Why? Well it's a series isn't it? It feels weird not reading all of them for some reason. Childhood/early teen fandom, you know? :P
I really liked this, even though it is the fourth book in the mini series you can read them in any order because each of the book is about a different girl. The book was just what the title claimed, and adventure. I thought it was refreshing seeing as how it was a totally different storyline as the main series. All in all, very good.
I WITCH-serien lærer man 5 piger at kende.
Cornelia has always been my fav narrator. I like how they talk about fashion and modeling but then don't proceed to call it mindless. Cornelia mentions how she never thought so much work went into it, and that she and her mom talk about how she's not shallow just because she's interested in fashion. Overall I really liked this but I liked it less than I thought I would, cause this was my fav as a child. Anyways, Cornelia is still my fav!
read the 5-book series when i was young, i remember i liked them. the pictures were nice and the story was easy to follow. fairy-witches, probably nice to give to a small child for Halloween.
Stolen Spring PLOT: In this short W.I.T.C.H story the girl's notice an abundance of spring-like symptoms popping up early (flowers blooming, trees bearing more leaves, etc) so naturally since she's the one in control of the Earth elements Cornelia thinks her powers are on the fritz. She's also approached to do a photo session for a magazine after she gets noticed in Hay-Lin's fashion show. It all comes to a head when she's visited by green sparks (the lead whom she names Patch). She discovers that they (not her) are the cause of all the growth. Also the bad dreams and voices/warnings she's been hearing. She and the rest of WITCH are transported to Candracar and them to the desolate town of Hungry where they learn that the town (once plentiful) has literally been sucked dry by a man named Caroc who through magic has turned himself into a giant worm. Now it's up to WITCH to defeat him and restore the land to what it once was.
MY THOUGHTS: I don't have a ton of thoughts on this one. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. When books talk about fashion shows and photo shoots and clothes and don't really give us pictures or talk very much about the clothes what's the point of mentioning them at all? And since this book had so many illustrations of Cornelia that it seemed like a waste of a missed opportunity to not show some of the clothes from the fashion show, photo shoot, or ball at the end. Maybe I'm just the only one that cares about that. As for the main plot, it went quick. This thing is so dumb and so slow it mistakes its own tail for another beast and devours itself. I wondered how Cornelia was transported into the inside of it mentally but then I guess it's magic and you just leave it there and not question it further. As for fashion, I get why Cornelia doesn't want to shoot with Acey but I don't think she should be so quick to dismiss modeling period. This is one of the books where Cornelia as a character leaves a good impression on me. She unselfishly goes to Hungry to face down a beast and then literally goes deeper into the problem to face the darkness and restore the light to the land.
Cornelia has always been one of my favourite girls. She's pretty, smart, caring and she likes to think before running into a fight, like some of the other W.I.T.C.H.-girls do. This book was incredibly adorable with the flowers and things growing and OMG Ljuspunkt, I love him so much <3 I wish I had him around me all the time. All of the childhood memories ~~
This may be a children book, but it's a really quick read and really helped me find strength in myself. So, I would advise if you are going through a though period to read this.
