Card Games have a long and storied history. Anyone can play dozens of games with a single deck of cards. Furthermore, the games are extensible; you can add many players to your games. I have played Card Games before, but there are some I haven't tried. For example, I played Canasta once but didn't know what I was doing, and the AI opponent mopped the floor with me.

Card Games for Dummies is a reference book by Barry Rigal. Rigal is a professional Card Player. It doesn't say which game he plays, but I always imagine Poker unless told otherwise. In this case, I think he plays Bridge since the book mentions he writes about that game. He may play more games professionally.

The book starts with Solitaire versions and moves to games with more players. It discusses the rules of each game, the ethics involved in playing cards, and how to find like-minded people to play against. The book is part of the "For Dummies" family, so it has little comic panels and other tropes it supplies.

The book is fast-paced and easy to read. It introduced me to games I hadn't heard of, such as Beggar My Neighbor and Snap. It may complicate a game you find too shallow, like Authors instead of Go Fish. Perhaps it will give you the rules to a game you know of but didn't know how to play, such as Pinocle or Euchre.

I enjoyed the book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.

Very detailed and extensive guide to quite a few card games, especially for poker and several of its variations. Great read - learnt quite a lot from it.

Annoying. It jumbled rules and strategy pointers together in one big mess of unstructured prose.
