The world is without power. The dead rule. Yet only now does the true struggle begin. Osiris, Ra and Isis each jockey for position, fighting a war as old as mankind.
Steve and Irakesh escape the Ark of the Redwood, but Trevor and Jordan are dispatched to bring them to justice. Blair and Liz attempt to build a new civilization from the ashes, but quickly realize they face larger problems.
For the true enemy of the ancient world has Risen, the vicious god Set. With him comes an army more powerful than the world has ever seen.
By day I am an iPhone developer architecting the app used to scope Stephen Colbert’s ear. By night I am Batman. Ok maybe not. One can dream though, right?
I’ve been writing since I was six years old and started inflicting my work on others at age 18. By age 24 people stopped running away when I approached them with a new story and shortly thereafter I published my first one in the Rifter.
Wait you’re still reading?
Ok, the facts I’m supposed to list in a bio. As of this writing I’m 38 years old and live just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the beautiful town of Mill Valley. If you’re unsure how to find it just follow the smell of self-entitlement. Once you see the teens driving Teslas you’ll know you’re in the right place.
I live in a tiny studio that I can cross in (literally) five steps and don’t own an oven. But you know what? It’s worth it. I love developing iPhone apps and if you want to work in San Francisco you accept that rent for a tiny place costs more than most people’s mortgage.
If you and about 2 million other people start buying my books I promise to move out of Marin to a house in the redwoods up in Guerneville. No pressure. Wait that’s a lie. Pressure.
(Audiobook review!) First of all, the 'last time on Deathless' segment is hilarious. I did just finish No Mere Zombie recently, and I wouldn't dare skip over that section.
Everything is totally coming together now, and I'm super excited for everything to come! Here's a few of the finer bits of what I jotted down as I listened:
*The comparison of the collar and bracelet to the a'dam from the Wheel of Time was awesome. The first thing I thought of as soon as that shit clicked on was 'oh, snap you're a damane, biiitch!' (I am a very classy lady, clearly.)
*I've always been into mythologies of various cultures, Greek and Egyptian being my faves, so this blending of those things with werewolves and vampires and zombies and so on has been awesome in all of these books, but in this one in particular the blend and how each of them work with others is really fleshed out now. Enemies are sometimes allies, and vice versa (and sometimes vice versa a lot).
*You can suddenly add aliens to the mix of all the other supernaturals and it makes total sense.
*Getting to see Isis and Osiris interact was awesome. (<3)
*At first, I was skeptical of Hades, because he was totally not what I imaged Hades would be like...
*Hooray for the fate of Captain Douchey!
*+50 DKP for Zelda reference. :D
Very well written. Very difficult to put down, even when I couldn't commit as much time to it as I wanted to. Narrator nails it yet again. Fun times. Can't wait for more!
Again a masterpiece that makes it impossible to put down. You really can see the world in which the author draws you into. Recommend this book to all who are tired of your every day supernatural creatures.....can't wait for more
Just as enjoyable as NSTAW and NMZ, Vampires Don't Sparkle introduced more than just vampires, and I'm excited to see the viewpoint characters of the new monsters in the next book.
In the interest of not spoiling anything, I'll be vague, but I was surprised by a lot of the characters' choices. Especially Trevor's.
Unfortunately, because of spoilers, I can't say much of anything that would make you want to read this, other than to say that I totally recommend it if you've read the first two in the series.
indle unlimited, first off, a collection that includes the prequel should have the prequel first in the book, and while I don't usually take off for spelling/grammar issues, there was so many that at times my audio stuttered or otherwise didn't make sense, and when forced to read it by sight there were homonym errors and repeats of the same text/'catch up' rememer from previous book parts that were way too close to each other as in parts to make sure knew of something not just the first part of each chapter going over what led up to, repeats of what had just been written a couple or so lines back, and some of it contradictory. I would have noted the issues each time but I'm not the ARC reader for these, maybe nobody was from some of the issues. If it hadn't made it hard to understand, wouldn't have taken off a star, but starting with prequel in BACK of 3 stories made no sense and the issues continued from there. BTW, a werewolf smashing a window pane THEN busting down a door makes no sense, and that was the same for too many other bits and pieces and parts, including length & shift ability, and being able to link/talk to minds yet in the most important instances actually saying outloud where the bad guys can hear it all. Also no idea half time whether in present or not, as switches scenes from recent to uh when was this? Didn't really understand vampire much. Continued on with such contrary statements that Sekhmet/Ra didn't know had Primary Access Key when how got last meeting by showing to her, and millinia since saw husband so wouldn't know. Etcetera. Ending made no sense.

The First Ark (Deathless, #0.5) No Such Thing as Werewolves (Deathless #1) No Mere Zombie (Deathless #2) Vampires Don't Sparkle (Deathless #3) Deathless Collection (Deathless) {1,2, 3, THEN prequel which makes no sense}
This is just a fun read. The author is building the world well, however, the story is kind of ridiculous at this point. I summarized it for my wife as such: Group finds a giant ark or pyramid that mysteriously appeared all of a sudden. While trying to uncover it's secrets, they release werewolves and werewolves are the scary thing. Then you find out werewolves are meant to fight zombies after sun spots kill all people with AIDS. Then you find out that werwolves and zombies were created by Egyptian gods, specifically one wanting to save her husband. Then you find out another Egyptian god created vampires. Then you find out a fourth Egyptian God is working with Hades to raise an army of demons to help conquer the world for the builders of the ark, who came here so long ago it's almost unbelievable.
That all said, it is fun. The author has a light touch with humor that makes me chuckle, and the fight scenes are what you would hope in a world full of werewolves, zombies, vampires, power armor and egyptian gods.

This third book in the installment is also a great read but not as fascinating as the two previous. The fight and story know center’s around the old gods and our heroes are chess pieces for them to use in their battle among each other but somehow these gods find a way to work together against the real foe which is also among their own origin and family. The future of mankind and earth hangs in a thin tread and our heroes manage to delay the worst scenario but the threat is far from over as I’m sure we will learn more in book four. The reason I give it a 4 star review this time is that the storyline is a little to fantastic and elevated to a level where I miss the more down to earth parts to use a stupid explanation about a fantasy novel. It is still a very fascinating read and holds a high standard, much better than most of what’s to pic in this genre and I look forward to reading the next
Enter Egyptian Gods, but are they gods or just a bunch of bitches? This book continues the Werewolves vs Deathless saga starring Liz and Blair as the lovers/ werewolves who are former scientists, Isis, aka “the Mother “ and various other characters that serve to move the plot. Turns out Isis created the virus that causes humans to become werewolves (or zombies) in order to save the planet from a cataclysm that happens every 13 million years. There’s also a crazy new/old group called “The Builders” who supposedly built the arcs or regeneration chambers that Isis, Osiris, Ra and the others slept in during the period between cataclysms. Lots of betrayal, switcheroos, surprises and…demons! What’s next?
The battle over the fate of the earth continues as werewolves, zombies, and now, vampires continue to battle it out over control of ancient technology (from the builders) which is reappearing across the globe. All of the previous characters are still engaged in the struggle with the best storyline focusing on the "the Director" from previous books. This time we see ancient gods clash as Set continues to try and kill off his ancient rivals, Osirus, Isis, and Ra. The story is fast moving, and a lot of fun. And we are absolutely certain that things are going to get even worse for our heroes in the next volume.
This is just another great read from a great story teller. I’m going to read the next installment of the series (something that I don’t usually do because by the third book, I’m pretty much bored with a series). This series Rocks! It should be made a cinematic series. Depending on the screen play, direction, and budget, it could rival the Star Wars sagas. It has everything needed for a great movie series. Werewolf’s that rip. Zombies that eat, and vampires that don’t sparkle!
I started reading this series a week ago and am already finished with number 3. I am loving them. I love the history, the way the lore is worked into the story, and the plot. I am very excited to start the fourth book. I would recommend this series to anyone. I am typically a romance reader, and only started this because my husband read them and wouldn't stop talking about them. I wanted to be able to talk to him about the story because he was so excited about it. I ended up loving it just as much!! You won't be disappointed.
Wow the story continues with Isis, Ra, Osiris, and Set finally getting it on .. Blair, Liz, Trevor, Jordan completed their tasks and it gets real.. wow even gods can die if the explosion is big enough. Oh and the builders are now on the way .. I have to read the next book ..it is just to good to stop now.
A plethora of gods. Wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, brother too many for me, but I overlooked that and still enjoyed a good story. I liked books 1 & 2 better. Liz and others are getting a boat load of new powers, let's see what they are going to do with them.
Thus was a action filled addition to the Deathless series in which the Deathless make a very vigorous appearance. Will the good guys (werewolves, vampires, good zombies, and ancient gods) prevail? That's another book in the series I have to read...
I like how Fox keeps you guessing. Just when you think you have his world and its mythos nailed down, he turns around and throws a twist at you. He always keeps you guessing. The political infrastructure is fascinating and he really opens it up in his world.
Truly amazing how Chris Fox manages to take all our legends, and bind them together in a new way. Characters are awesome, plot is more and more involved to the point I'm burning the midnight oil to finish and move on to the next book! 💖🐱🐾
The first Ark appears and a werewolf attack ensues, killing hundreds, raising dozens of new werewolves. Next thing you know, Zombies appear and kill and convert the rest of humanity to the great undead army. Now we have Vampires and Demons fighting over the new Arks at Stonehenge and San Francisco Bay. Our 'heroes' are morphing into creatures learning new fighting styles and abilities. It's getting hard to tell the baddies from the good guys!
However, the metaphysical nature of the story dwarves any confusion stretching the boundaries of belief, as it should be! The characters are drawn from fiction and world religious beliefs, specifically from the Egyptian Pantheon. The Egyptian gods and demigods are alive and kicking here!
The characters evolve with each new book, gaining abilities beyond the ken of modern people. Fantastic abilities that are still dwarfed by the power of the Ark Lords. Each character brings his/her personality to their modified forms leading to some really sneaky shit going down! Lots of switching sides. The characters are robust and vigorous, bringing belief to their situations. The storyline is twisted, convoluted, and exciting! I am dying to find out what's next! I will find out in the next book!
After Isis made the virus that changed normal humans into The fearless and also Werewolves the war for humanity started. There are many surprises coming as the old Gods may have been killed also.
I just finished the third book in this series and I think this would make a great series or a movie for each book can't wait to start the next book in the series I'm hooked
I enjoyed this book very much. The action and adventure keeps coming until the very last page. If you like reading about zombies vampires and werewolves you will love this book.
This series is very much a unified whole; each book is as excellent as the last! Different from the last, an unexpected (yet sensible) continuation of the last. Plants seeds for the next book or three. Gives closure and emotional satisfaction in places where it wasn't necessarily expected.
I'm hypersensitive to spoilers, so let me just say: I simply devoured this book! Could not put it down. So impatient for him to write the next one!
A GRAND TALE OF MONSTERS, ALIENS AND SUCH IT IS...
Hello, these stories are great. Very well written and very enjoyable to read. You have werewolves, vampires, zombies and aliens, what's not to like. Damn fine stuff. Thanks.
