Sondra's husband died, leaving her to fend for herself. When her only other friend, Miller, passes away, too, it's more than Sondra can take. But when Miller leaves her his cattle ranch, she can hardly believe how deeply she's been blessed. She just has to make it through one year with Miller's appointed ranch manager - then the Culry Q will be hers forever. Dylan Ward was Miller's neighbor, and they had a deal. But Miller's will completely changes the arrangement. Dylan is seeing red - red hair that is, because Sondra Thankful will get the Curl Q. Now Dylan has to run both his ranch and hers. Will Dylan be able to see the Lord's will, or just his own? Can Sondra ever find happiness again after losing so much?
As a child, Cathy Marie Hake had an imaginary playmate. Now "grown up," she indulges in a host of imaginary friends as she writes. She teasingly says she decided if those voices in her head were talking, she might as well write down what they said and make a living by doing it. She met her sweetheart in the High School department at church and married him after finishing nursing school. They live in Southern California and have two children and two dogs (one of them even moos - one of the dogs that is, not the kids). Faith in God, a loving family, and a wacky sense of the ridiculous keep her going.
Known for surfing across the kitchen on a dropped dill pickle slice, waterskiing on sea anemone spit, and using Right Guard® as hair spray; she considers herself living proof that God does, indeed, possess a healthy sense of humor.
Cathy loves classical music, romantic getways with her husband, and Diet Pepsi Free®. "I need chocolate to survive, love my friends, and enjoy a deep personal relationship with the Lord. Although an extrovert, I'm very conservative on a personal level."
In her writing, Cathy attempts to capture a unique glimpse of life and how a man and woman can overcome obstacles when motivated by love. In her inspirational pieces she enjoys the freedom of showing how Christ can enrich a loving couple's relationship.
In His Will was a different read, but not in a bad way. I enjoyed the story and found the will aspect interesting... or was almost like he was trying to play matchmaker. Lol. I liked the romance and the ending was perfect. All in all, a cute read.
Contemporary (90's?) christian Western romance with a relationship of convenience theme when two strangers inherit the Curl Q Ranch. Dylan Ward is the great neighbor to Miller (dead fellow) who was like a son who must help widowed Sondra Thankful to run the ranch for a year so that she can inherit completely the ranch. Sondra Thankful is a sweet pretty young pregnant widow that is still clinging to the love of her dead husband, but after seven months, after almost a year of partnership with Dylan they find themselves trusting and depending on each other as friends. To save the Miller ranch from the inheritance, Sondra and Dylan get married right before they will lose it because of just a few thousand dollars of not enough profit because of lots of mysterious sabotage. Cute Christian romance with no hanky-panky with sweet characters that grow to love each other and the neighborhood. 174 pages and kindle freebie 2 stars
I enjoyed this book so much, Sondra wanting to stand on her own, and Dylan trying to what his friend want him to do. But running two ranches and Sondra getting in the way. How is a man going to do it all.
Dylan at first annoyed me, because he was so vocal about his opinions and bossy about them too. However, he started to grow on me and I liked watching Sondra and him interact with each other. The romance was a tad quick, but it was believable. All in all, a pretty good romance story.
This was a fun, short read. Very lighthearted. The bantering between Sondra and Dylan is too funny and I actually found myself laughing in a couple of incidents.
