Tara tries to win Patrick's attention by becoming more sophisticated while fellow cheerleaders Melissa and Jessica start new romances with the same boy, Todd Eldridge, a senior
* Tara realises that both of Patrick's previous girlfriends were cheerleaders, and wonders if he'd have dated her if she wasn't a cheerleader. She decides to reinvent herself and gives herself and her room a makeover. She starts wearing heels and skirts and wearing her hair in a French braid, but eventually realises that Patrick was happy with who she was originally, and she doesn't need to change anything. * A new boy starts at school called Todd who is a gymnast. He flirts with every girl nearby, and starts dating both Melissa and Jessica, which doesn't go down well. Jessica tries to get Melissa to see what's going on, but Melissa just accuses Jessica of trying to steal Todd 🙄 It's not until Todd comes to Jessica's door asking to see his 'one and only' (which is what he's been calling both of them), that Melissa realises what he's been up to. * Peter is upset about Melissa kissing Todd, and then she tells him that she only wants to be friends. * Peter is also upset because he thinks that his mother is dating Todd's father (who is married), but it turns out she's dating a man called Matt. * Melissa is nearly convinced to leave cheerleading for gymnastics (Jessica says that it's because he wants the two of them separated so that he can date both of them), but in the end she decides to stick with cheerleading.
