The Countdown to Christmas starts here Housekeepers!
Ah Christmas… a month long bundle of glitter sprinkled joy, liberally decorated with a whole lot of chaos!
But no more my Darlings, because this year BrocanteHome is charging to the rescue with the Christmas Countdown, a scrumptious little book designed to make this Christmas the best you ever had, spurring you on with the most scrumptious of festive puttery treats, daily encouragement, Christmas planning, and of course a dash of BrocanteHome.net charm…
With one charming little meditation for every day of the thirty day countdown to Christmas, this is answer to festive bliss? I promise…
Alison May has been the Vintage Housekeeper in residence at BrocanteHome.Net for the past eight years, regaling her audience with all the up's and downs of life, love and vintage housekeeping in a teeny tiny 150 year old Lancashire terraced cottage...
Her second book "Life, Love and Vintage Housekeeping" is now available...
Full of festive cheer, silliness, reassurance, delight, and good ideas. A pleasure to read. It is 16th January and I am already excited to begin planning Christmas for this year. Bring it on!
That you have the time or inclination to polish your furniture DAILY.
That you would consider buying a new apron annually, and embroidering the year onto it, a good use of time and resources.
That you have 'bobbas', and the time to fuss over them after performing the aforementioned polishing (don't forget the silver flatware), embroidery, etc.
That you don't object to being repeatedly referred to as 'darling' by a housekeeping manual.
That you are not offput by the gratuitous use of the word 'scrumptious' in weird contexts, or the use of the phrase 'inner housewife'.
But if you can get past all the luvvie language, there are a few good ideas for mere mortals to implement, although if you are more full-time office warrior than full-time mum (or much like me, you lack children), this will most probably probably be in moderation.
I'm not the target market for this fluffy guide to vintage, domestic bliss. I hoped it might get me in the Christmas spirit, an elusive state of affairs for me, but it just irritated me. I'm sure the very domesticated reader with children and no job will find it more helpful
