Heal yourself with power of crystals and gemstones. Hundreds of vivid color photographs make it easy to identify and distinguish between different varieties. Listing for over 140 stones tell you which stones to use for particular illnesses, how to use them most effectively and how stones relate to the chakra system and the signs of the zodiac.
My go-to guide. Easy to navigate, comprehensive and useful. I like that it tells not only the science but also the different uses, how to use them and the chakras that are associated with each crystal.
This book had some good information, but I wasn’t sure I could trust any of it given the sheer number of punctuation/spelling/grammar issues. Also it recommends cleansing any and all crystals with water, when many crystals can be damaged when met with water. It also excluded several common crystals, such as selenite and lepidolite. Would have expected more from an author with a doctorate.
I have many crystal books and I even ended up with two copies of this one at one point. It's the one I reach least to because of all the confusing information, referring to a lot of the stones as their secondary names, and the various typos were distracting. Those factors aside, it's pretty alright.
Phenomenal addition to rebuilding my crystal book library. Well worth the store price I paid! Gorgeous color photographic entries per stone, easily organized, easy to reference. In my not so humble opinion, a must for the shelf of a crystal worker!
Healing Crystals and Gemstones: From Amethyst to Zircon is a great guide to anyone who is interested in the metaphysical properties of crystals and gemstones. If, like me, you are a newcomer to studying stones, then this book is a great beginner's guide for you, as it takes you through more than 100 important stones and details their chemical compositions, where they come from, their histories, their healing and magical properties, and so forth, and what is perhaps the best part is that provided for each stone are beautiful color photographs. My only problems with the book are that (a) it is very exhausting (but, in all fairness, it is essentially a textbook so is probably not really intended to be read cover to cover) and (b) it is poorly edited, as it is practically full of errors, mostly in the form of typos. It is, as previously stated, however, an excellent resource, both for beginners and for seasoned practitioners. It is pretty much impossible to memorize every stone and its properties in the book, so even for people who aren't new at this practice, it is a good resource to have on your bookshelf.
Great book for identifying gemstones and crystals, as well as for learning about how they affect us. I use this book often as a reference for my jewelry designs, that I make and sell online for the purpose of alternative healing. It gives the history of the stone, healing properties, and magical properties. It also has a section on the zodiac, and which stones work well for each sign and why, and is a very good introduction to stone work for chakra healing. It's hard bound, and I like that each stone has a picture associated with it. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in stones, and alternative healing. It's a great bridge to other fields of knowledge. Enjoy!!
As someone who hardly knows anything about crystals, this book did an amazing job in teaching me that knowledge. The book is organized in ABC order, has a section in the back for quick reference, describes chakras, and describes the crystals in detail. Each Crystal has a photo; it's origin, healing properties, and how to care for them.
It's a nice book, but it is a book for someone just starting out using crystals. Some of the info is the wright era own and not what mist would do or use. Add tot hat some of the info on history and legend of the stones I have never seen before in my 30 years of looking into the use of the crystals and stones.
The crystal book had about 120 different crystals and the photos could have been better, but this book also provided details how to clean or discharge the crystals and recharge or energize the crystals which I found lacking in many of the other crystals book I have been studying lately. This is another book that I felt should be in my home library so I purchased a copy for myself.
Nice illistrations. Short paragraphs that tell you, history of the stone, healing prperties, star signs, legnds, hardness of the stone, and its all on two pages per stone. Very informative for those who are begining to learn about stone. An inforomative read.
This was a goo dbasic inroductory and reference book for crystals and their healing uses. It definitely helped me decide on some new crystals to add to my toolkit. However, the oictures are not always very helpful in identifying the crystals. I feel the photos could have been better.
