Jake Adams is living the good life on the Italian coast, when he is summoned by an old friend to help with an international crisis. A group of terrorists has kidnapped a number of Christian relief workers, and they have disappeared somewhere off the coast of Morocco. Reluctantly, Jake takes on the case. So now Jake must assemble a team of people he can trust from his past to find and free these captured medical professionals. Meanwhile, Jake’s girlfriend, Alexandra, has been called back to work for German intelligence in Berlin, where she has been tasked to infiltrate a group of neo-Nazis bent on German purity during increasing nationalist protests. Jake’s mission brings him from the Iberian Peninsula to the Atlas Mountains of North Africa, where he must fight forces of a spreading Caliphate. This was an interesting story and I like the main character of Jake. I didn't realize this was #11 in a series -- it's the only one I've read, but I didn't feel too out of depth with it. There was enough explaination I was able to follow everything without a problem. I did sense there was some backstory there, but I had no idea there were 10 back stories. The crux of this story was the hope of rescuing a number of doctors and nurses in a Christian organization that had been kidnapped by terrorists. I thought there might be more Christian elements in the story, but there was very little. However, it was a good adventure with some good characters.
Excellent character development. Main character was maybe 110% of what he needed to be for me to actually like him. But that's just me. I shall read more from this author.
Anna had extensive training before joining the Christian Relief program, having traveled to almost every continent. Security officer seemed offed as he checked her badge upon coming aboard. Dining with Morgana when men with automatic weapon came in. Jake is approached by the general and the priest at his home in Italy. A ship left the Canary Islands port two days ago and was still missing until this morning. With five doctors and ten nurses missing , with one being an American nurse. No one is initially involved, so no one is taking any initiative to find them. Jake reply “a general a priest and a billionaire walk into a bar” exactly what you want me to do. New author, and I throughly enjoyed it.A sense of humor, the plot was laid out well, and the little hint at the beginning, to intrigue us to read more. I like Jake, he has almost a casual approach..Will look for more by author.
Jake Adams and the small team of extraordinary individuals, a priest, English retired military man who drinks a little to much, a Frenchman spy who is suspended from his job, a gorgeous Israeli female who works for different agencies around the world and one billionaire who will stop at nothing to rid the world of jihadist groups through out Europe. This makes for a novel you can't put down. Quite exciting.
Typical Jake Adams thriller with action throughout but with a happy ending this time. Good thoughts on some of the social issues of our day and offered a solution that is needed for the situation we find ourselves in as well. A shame Jake can't help us solve our problem.
You have to love Jake Adams, the guy is a stud. I also love Carlos Gomez's attitude and what he believes in. I only wish our politicians would wake up and take it to these terrorists.
All plot. Imagining the future where radical islamists emerge as an organized threat. Not terribly well written, simple characters, shadowy organizations and rule breakers, but lots of action and the good guys win.
I really enjoyed this book. A little over the top in some ways but closer to reality in many ways than I care to think. The real war between the Muslims and the rest of the world has already started and most don't realize it.
