Shift of Command

Rate this book
As a covert operative, Sway Waybourne is used to fending for herself. But a powerful uprising means she is now responsible for guarding the leader of a neighboring planet. Within seconds of meeting Dason Cavaletti, sparks fly and Sway realizes she’s gotten more than she bargained for.

Dason is curious about the arousal taking over his mind, body, and soul. When he can no longer stand the overwhelming desire, he confronts Sway. But the disturbing news she delivers isn’t at all what he expected.

Mating with the gorgeous woman could kill him….

WARNING: Sarcasm galore from a fiery heroine who can take care of herself thank-you-very-much. She won’t take anyone’s guff—even from the leader of the free universe no matter how handsome he is. A unique genetic quirk leads to inventive foreplay, one blazing hot hands-on session in the bathtub and a gender bending encounter that signals this ain’t your father’s Star Trek. No redshirts were harmed while writing this novel.

Sara Brookes

A native Virginian, Sara sold her first published romance novel, FLASH OF DARK, an urban fantasy romance pitting vampires against the Fae, in 2009. Since that fateful day, she's published over 20 books in various sub-genres of romance, been generously honored with several awards, and saved the world from evil chocolate chip cookies.

Though she may insist otherwise, Sara loves the places her mind conjures and has always been fascinated by the strange, the unusual, the twisted and the lost (tortured heroes are her personal favorite). She is an action movie junkie, addicted to coffee and has been known to stay up until the wee hours of the morning playing RPG video games. Despite all this geekiness, she is a romantic at heart and is always a sucker for an excellent love story.

Good scifi, set in an interesting universe with fated mate bonds. I wish there had been more time in the story for their love to grown, and more about their connection. The ending felt rushed to me.

Lethal Beauty by Sara Brookes was a quick read for me. It is about 85 pages and Lord is it packed with action, lust, and politics. Lord what could get better than that. Sway Waybourne is in the Elite Military and she does what she wants when she wants and she does not follow rules. So when she is called into the office and told she has a new mission she is about to go on she is excited. That is until she finds out she will be "baby sitting" the Ambassador Dason Cavaletti who has several attempts on his life.

What is a girl to do because she can't disobey orders but she does not want to be a baby sitter for the ambassador. If matters couldn't get worse when she goes to see Dason there is this sexual electricity between them and Dason is confused because he has never felt that before and he wants no he needs Sway. But Sway is very clear to him that she is the protection and nothing more. After some time though Dason confronts Sway and tells Sway he has these feelings and he knows she has these feelings to. Dason tells her that he burns with pure desire for her. Sway answers him by saying there can never be anything between them other than friendship because a love affair just might mean death for one of them or both.

What will Dason do? Will he pursue Sway? Will he leave her alone? Come along for a crazy ride where sexual tension can either make you or break you.
