Quilt appraiser Keely Fairchild is thrilled that the Danger Cove Quilt Guild has teamed up with the Historical Museum to make miniature quilts to decorate the museum's Christmas tree. To join in the holiday spirit, she offers free appraisals of holiday quilts during the ornament-making workshop. But when the owner of a Tree of Life quilt is fatally stabbed in the museum's parking lot, Keely finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation! The police think it's a random act of violence, but Keely is convinced it has something to do with the quilt, which is now missing. Everyone is a suspect including the workshop instructor, the instructor's annoying assistant, a shady retired cop, and even the local quilt shop owner who found the body. And don't forget hot local reporter, Matt Viera, who isn't proving to be as reliable as Keely had hoped. Can she count on him to help her solve the case or will he abandon her again...this time to the mercies of a vicious killer?

About Danger Cove: Danger Cove is a sleepy little town in the Pacific Northwest and home to renowned mystery novelist, Elizabeth Ashby. While Elizabeth swears the stories she writes are fiction, you can find the inspiration for her murderous tales all over Danger Cove...from the intriguing cast of local characters to the places to eat, play, and explore in Danger Cove. Don't let our name fool you—we're the friendliest (even if deadliest) town in the Pacific Northwest! Visit us at dangercovemysteries.com
Local resident Elizabeth Ashby was born and raised in Danger Cove and now uses her literary talent to tell stories about the town she knows and loves. Ms. Ashby has penned several Danger Cove Mysteries, which are published by Gemma Halliday Publishing. While she does admit to taking some poetic license in her storytelling, she loves to incorporate the real people and places of her hometown into her stories. She says anyone who visits Danger Cove is fair game for her poisoned pen, so tourists beware! When she's not writing, Ms. Ashby enjoys gardening, taking long walks along the Pacific coastline, and curling up with a hot cup of tea, her cat, Sherlock, and a thrilling novel.
Whoops! Danger Cove is living up to its name again in the run up to the Christmas Season!
Keely, the quilt appraiser, still doesn't trust herself to do any quilting, but she is happy to help out at the mini quilt ornament workshop, mainly providing free mini appraisals (she tries her hand at cutting and ironing of the tiny quilts and gives up!), everything seems to be going smoothly with people either told what the quilt is probably worth, some told about how to renovate their quilts and some where the suggestion is to get a full appraisal for insurance purposes. Then the final person turns up, an ex-police officer isn't happy to see the young man, nor indeed are some others but Keely shrugs and does the appraisal anyway, and it turns out to be a damaged but good quilt, she gives her verdict and thinks nothing more of it, until the same young man is found dead in the car park with the quilt missing!
The police seem to think it is a case of ne'er do wells falling out but Keely isn't happy with that idea, with the youngest member of the force making jokes about her solving the crime, she sets out to do just that!
Keely Fairchild offered her free services as a quilt appraisers . She also used to be an investigator and had recently solved a murder. A young man named Allen came in the get a quilt appraised , he said it was his grandmother. Later he was found outside murdered. The quilt was not found by his body. Keely started to do her own investigating on who the murder was but the police as insisted they dont need her help and she is not longer a investigator. But that didnt stop her from doing it on her own.
If you're looking for a cozy mystery that will keep you guessing, A Christmas Quilt to Die For, a Danger Cove Mystery by authors Gin Jones and Elizabeth Ashby is the one. Jones and Ashby's characters are complex. Keely Fairchild, the strong female lead, is a quilt appraiser, a second career that was meant to reduce stress. But while working at a quilting event meant to raise money for the local museum, Keely finds the only thing raised is suspicion and stress. Worst of all the killer could be any of the many volunteers! A fun read.
Well done! The mystery aspect was very well plotted, the characters believable and interesting, and the quilting lessons informative. It's not that new suspects kept appearing, but that new evidence would point to a different person in this version of a locked room mystery. Add in some tidbits regarding autonomic syncope, diabetes, and a really annoying person of the AR variety, and this one is right up my alley!
There was a great deal of information about quilting in the beginning which made reading the story sort of slow and sluggish. Once the murder takes place the story pace picks up. There is still a lot of quilting information including the tools used to create the De quilts. It ended up being a good story, I just wish there were diagrams of what they were describing for a novice to the quilting scene.
I love Danger Cove books, especially when you get to catch up with characters you've already met. This was an interesting read. Although I don't understand much of what is described about Quilting in this book, I still enjoyed the storyline very much. As usual you get many twists & turns along with humor in these books.
Who would expect something as basic as a quilt would be cause for murder. Love following Kelley and Matt as they work to find out who would murder someone for a quilt. As usual, lots of unexpected twists and turns to a very surprising ending. If you like cozy mysteries this book is right up your alley, highly recommend.
Keely is doing quilt appraisals for the quilting event at the musuem when one of the appraisals owner is found murdered outside. The timing of the death and the location make the quilters the number 1 suspects. While the police run their investigation Keely and Matt are doing their own. Very interesting as they observe the primary suspects good reading and continued excellent series
This was such a great book. Danger Cove living up to its name when a young man was murdered during a quilting bee to make mini quilt Christmas decorations for the historical museum. The usual investigation by Keely with Matt as her side kick soon proved who the guilty party was and the reason for the murder. Good speed on this book making it a really good read.
Keely, a quilt appraiser doing a special event at a quilt guild event, finds herself thrust in the middle of a murder investigation when that murder happens during this event. I really enjoyed this story with its twists and turns, trying to figure out whodunnit before the story ended. These authors are so good at telling wonderful stories!
Wow! Appraising quilts in the library was supposed to be a good idea. That is until there is a murder and one of the quilts goes walkabout. Can she find the killer and the quilt before the wrong person is arrested. Great book. Love the series.
My mother would have loved this book with all the quilting information but me not so much. My mother made lap quilts for each of us including the grandchildren before her death.
We are learning so much about the town of Danger Cove. Bed and breakfast, hair salon, bakery, quilt shows and museum. I feel like I know the people after reading these books. I hope there are more!
I picked this book because of the Christmas tie-in. I hadn’t read any other books in the series. I liked the characters and the setting. The clues were plentiful, yet I didn’t suspect the murderer. I’ll read more of these.
This is book #7 in the Danger Cove Series, the second in the Danger Cove Quilting Mysteries. In this book we get to visit again with Keely Fairchild, former lawyer turned quilt appraiser. In this adventure, Keely finds herself in the middle of another murder investigation. It is great to see Keely and her friends team up to solve another mystery.
Love this series, I have read all the books and highly recommend purchasing them all! Share them with your friends and family, they would make make great Holiday Gifts!!
Very informative story line regarding hand quilting and sewing machine quilting. How some people become very intensive regarding special quilts. Christmas became the focal point and some very special miniature quilts being made by a quilting group and the multiple people involved and their feelings about each other, some not so nice. Than of course there was a murder and everyone was under suspicion. And a very nice little romance that only danced around the edges. Read and enjoy. I received this story for free and all I had to do was write a review. ty
I read the 1st Danger Cove Quilting mystery and it was pretty good, so I thought I'd give the 2nd one a chance. As much as I wanted to like this book, it just didn't hold my attention. I started it over 3 times then gave up because I kept realizing my mind was wandering and I just couldn't get into the story.
I enjoyed this book. This book is part of a series written by a number of authors, you don't need to read them in order because each book is written as a standalone but there are all just as great as the last. I don't know anything about quilting and although it is a big feature in the story of doesn't go into any technical detail and mainly focuses on the mystery, all the suspects just happen to be quilters. The mystery was good with lots of clues and plenty of suspects. I liked the fact that everybody was stuck in the one place and could be interviewed as the clues were discovered, this meant the story flowed nicely. The characters were interesting and likeable. I also liked that the main character had a few problems which added to the drama . A great little Christmas mystery. keely is doing her bit to help raise money for the local museum by offering to do quilt appraisals, while other members of the quilting group make Christmas tree decorations. Things are going well until a scream makes everybody drop there needles and scissors and head for the car park. The victim and his family have a reputation and the police are quick to decide its a falling out between gangs. Keely isn't so sure when the clues start to point to one of quilters and an old family heirloom disappears. Another quilter wants Keely to use her old lawyer skills from keeping his girlfriend out of jail but does he really have anything to worry about? Finding the body doesn't always mean you are the killer, each unless she had a motive to want him dead. With everybody stuck in one place as the police investigate Keely can't help but get sew the clues together. Can she find the killer? And have a fairy tale Christmas?
Great Series! This is a great series; this is the seventh book in the Danger Cove series by Elizabeth Ashby and Gin Jones. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone but one you read one you will want to go back and read the others. Keely Fairchild is a quilt appraiser in the small town of Danger Cove. She is excited that the Danger Cove Quilt Guild has teamed up with the Historical Museum to make miniature quilts to decorate the museum’s Christmas tree. When the owner of the Tree of Life quilt is found stabbed, she puts her sleuthing skills to work. If you are looking for a great mystery then you need to read this book. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
