Tristan's Point of View of Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever. Tristan White, the CEO of a multibillion-dollar venture capital firm, has every material thing he could ask for. The loss of his mother and a tragedy involving a dear friend has left him unable to form lasting intimate relationships. Even the alternative lifestyle he adopted shortly before entering college to help him cope with the trauma has become less than fulfilling for him in the last year. When the alluring Keisha Beale breezes into his life seeking startup capital for her record store and studio, his first inclination is to turn her down. But something about the captivating beauty stirs his dormant libido. Mixing business with pleasure ended in tragedy for him once, so he knows he has to tread carefully. Tristan always builds an exit strategy into every entanglement, but it’s Keisha who severs their arrangement by uttering her safe word.
Growing up, L.V. Lewis wanted to be an internationally known rock star, but unfortunately, lived in the wrong part of the country to pursue that career (and neither American Idol nor The Voice were available then). An early love for the written word gave her the plan B she sought. Now she pens romance novels that let her live vicariously through rock stars and other fascinating archetypes.
Oh I glad I am that the White brothers are back! I have missed Keisha and Jada as well. I loved this book because 50 Shades of Jungle Fever was only from Keisha's POV. Tristen is one sexy Alpha man who knows how to handle money and the business world. However, his heart has met his match in Keisha Beale. Tristen was hooked when she walked into his office. He just didn't realize all of it.
Tristen shares with us how she has hooked him and his desires that he had only shared with one other. Tristen has a secret relationship with a female rapper that none outside of their small circle really know. As strong as he is, Keisha is able to unlock things he paid small fortunes to discover. This alpha realizes that he is as protective of her as has been since his mother was there in his life.
Will he be able to finally offer another his heart or will he continue to hide so he won't be hurt, yet again? Great Read....Please give us the sequel soon...I am team Tristen and Keisha.. Thank you
FSOJF is a Parody of FSOG but It's something entirely different, it's brilliant ,funny I was very excited to read it more than one time. So when I had the opportunity read the story from Tristian's point of view , I jumped on it. Tristian's story is a review of the first book in the series, but from his point of view , without the comedy, which I missed, but I understood the reasons why. In this book learned more why's about Tristian and I felt I understood him better, I was surprised about the relationship between he and Dani ,that addition made the story interesting. I kept reading this book because I wanted something different, what I read was the well written retelling of the first book in the series from Tristan's point of view.
Had some issues with the middle towards the end & how it ended, but overall I really liked the story and characters.
Things here with certain scenarios, even dialogue, definitely reminded me of our characters in 50 shades, but I think this one stands on it's own well, in it's own rite.
I read Fifty shades of jungle fever and I loved it but The Venture Capitalist was told from Tristan's point of view. we get to know him a little better. I didn't want the story to end
I loved it!!! I loved seeing it from Tristan's point of view on his relationship with Keisha. I hope there is a second part because I couldn't stop reading it.
DISCLOSURE: I was provided a copy of The Venture Capitalist by the author. I was not paid nor required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I have read Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever which was I was told was a parody of Fifty Shades of Grey (which I never read). FSOJF was a great read. At the time of reading FSOJF I was not really into books with a BDSM storyline because most I came across were purely about erotic sex and nothing more. However I found FSOJF to more than sex. It was about a man who came across a lifestyle (BDSM) that helped him deal with a deep loss as a teenager. He continued in this lifestyle as a way to deal with other areas of his life. He comes across a beautiful, business-minded, scarred, independent young woman (Keisha) who challenges not only his mind, body, and soul, but also his structured world of control.
The Venture Capitalist is the story of Tristan and Keisha (Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever) from Tristan's POV. We are able to see the true Tristan. We are able to see what really makes him tick or better yet what makes him decide to not show his vulnerable side to others for fear they will use it against him or that he would lose control of his world. We are also able to see the hold that Keisha actually has on his soul which he has hidden behind their Dom/sub business-personal relationship contract.
The author LaVie EnRose and LV Lewis have done a great job allowing the reader to see things from behind the eyes of Tristan while staying true to The Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever series.
Damn,my my my my my,whew I thought I reread greys events more then 4x this is gonna top the s..... By a mile this is mind binding reread. Please have a pt 2 or 3 even 6. Oh s & beef and macaroni they have me. Every fiber of my being love this manuscript ,now this is a movie I'd pay for. Wow &wow ,Ty Ty Ty Ty Ty .
I definitely enjoyed reading Tristan's perspective. There was definitely more detail in this book. I now have to go back and read the second book in the series again. I will be looking forward to the last book in the series.
It was good to view Tristan's point of view. This book actually added more depth to his character as the focal point. Tristan and Keisha's banter spoke volumes to understand the relationship. Love the read as it was a review of Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever.
LaVie EnRose&L.V. Lewis, ‘The Venture Capitalist’ The Jungle Fever Series #1 (Tristan’s POV part 1).
As ARC reader I received this book for free and promised an honest review. Here it is.
English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 5 (of 5) stars.
In general: Nice BDSM love story interwoven with interesting business affairs.
Main characters:
- Tristan White. Owner and CEO of a multi-billion dollar venture capitalist firm. BDSM dominator.
- Nathan White. Tristan’s twin brother. NBA basketballer for ten years. Now owner of a big sportswear bussiness.
- Keisha Beale. Chief Operating Officer of Kente Studio Records. She owns the studio together with Jada Jameson, a senator’s daughter. She asks Tristan’s firm to investigate in their studio.
- Darnelle Anderson or ‘Princess Danai’. Best friend of Tristan during their youth. Now a Hip Hop celebrity. Lesbian dominatrix trained by Tristan.
Tristan and Keisha meet when Kente Studio Records wants an investment in their studio from Tristan’s firm. The negotiations are difficult. Tristan claims control over his investments and Keisha and Jada want to keep their independence. Personal bonds make the situation more complicated. Both Princess Danai as Tristan try to persuade Keisha to become their sub. And Nathan gets a relationship with Jada. Nathan too wants to invest in the studio. Keisha is a proud, independent Afro-American woman who doesn’t like the idea of (light?) BDSM and being a submissive. But she feels more and more attraction for Tristan as a person.
Both authors create an exciting story while describing how business and personal aspects have influence on the development of the relationship between Keisha and Tristan. With insight they make clear in which way the past of both persons partly explain their actions and opinions in the present. Part I ends with kind of a cliffhanger. This reader is impatiently looking forward to the other titles in this Jungle Fever series.
Honestly, I never expect books in this genre to be very good, and this one doesn't seem to be exceptional in that regard. It was fine for what it was, though there were certainly some cringey moments and I doubt I'll care to pick up the rest of the series. What bothers me the most is that this is a romance book, yet the romance feels completely contrived. There seems to be absolutely no chemistry between these two other than their (rather forced) dom/sub dynamic. It doesn't give justice to the female lead in particular who is practically fetishized by the narrator, playing out the now cliche "powerful businessman wants control over everything in his life, especially the bedroom" trope simultaneously with the "I've been hurt before, so now I can never love again" trope. They are both tired, and while Keisha is a much more refreshing character, the treatment she is given is the same tired routine often given to women of color, in that their womanhood and ethnicity are focused on far more than their persona, because from all indications her character wouldn't be in this relationship to begin with. In terms of the relationship itself, it is supremely unhealthy. Perhaps it is not as bad as the relationships in other erotic novels I've read that have crossed many lines into abusive, but it blatantly shows Tristan using his money and power to essentially blackmail Keisha into sleeping with him. The unethical nature of this is barely explored, but only to the extent that it may make her feel uncomfortable (no mention of how this is straight up illegal). I won't even go into how VC's are rare in Chicago compared to other areas and likely wouldn't be this sucessful, especially if they funded companies like record labels that haven't launched yet and already own their property and (as far as I, an admittedly non-businessperson can tell) don't need the benefit/curse of venture capitalism. Ultimately this book was just very weak in terms of setting up what it wanted to get across and I had a hard time enjoying it because it felt so forced on so many levels.
Had I known this was a BDSM story, I would not have gotten it. But, I decided to give it a try. This story is long and tedious and it failed to keep my attention. I much rather prefer your ordinary vanilla romance where a man has to pursuit a woman to convince her he is worth her time. Tristan White uses his excuse as a dom to keep from revealing emotions or getting emotionally involved with a woman after he felt responsible for not saving his mother from her death when he was thirteen. He did not want to fall in love with someone to only lose them and break down like his father did on the death of his wife. He nor his twin had neer seen their father breakdown like that before or since. It had profound affects on them. So both Tristan and his twin Nathan hide behind being doms in the BDSM world, but Nathan is more open to giving his heart than Tristan is.
This story leaves the reader hanging in the end. I hate cliffhangers! There are too many unresolved questions in this story and with the lack of a good plot it failed to keep my attention, but I was able to keep reading it. I'm not likely to continue in this series. With all of this said, if BDSM is your thing with a continuation of a series, then this a read for you, it's just not my cup of tea. Since Fifty Shades has been done, the genre has been done to death. It's just my opinion and not meant to degrade an author's style.
I’m a cryer. But this one, I didn’t cry until it was over. I IMMEDIATELY!! Went to see if there was a follow up book because I know you betta be lying to end the book this way. I both don’t mind and hate cliffhangers. Cliffhangers truthfully are only a problem if you haven’t written a good enough book that will entice the reader to go purchase and read the next installment and this got me. As soon as I read the last line I was like “ain’t no way, I need to know what happens next”. I went to find the book that follows this one and immediately purchased it. I’m 5% in right now. I’m shook. I’ve downloaded this book six years ago and didn’t read it until now. I’m locked in to book 2. I need them to have a happily ever after. NEED
The Venture Capitalist (The Jungle Fever Series Book 1)
The love story of Keisha and Tristan. Move over 50 Shades this is more believable. This is not a naive girl falling for a worldly man. This a story of a woman move into a Dominat/submissive world. Keisha mets Tristan when she and her best friend are looking for someone to invest in their record company. Tristan tell her he will invest if she become his submissive. Will this relationship turn into a real one? Great story.
Tristan would never be like his dad. Never fall in love with someone only to be hurt and changed. Tristan would have his subs but not a girlfriend. When he met Keshia at a meeting she wanted him to invest in her business venture. Things were changing for both of them. Both saw changes in their personal relationship they couldn't handle. Will it be completely over.
I enjoyed Triston's point of view. My one issue is book 3 continues the stories from where this book stops. Granted, it's from Keisha's pov. I thought it was good that this story crossed color, culture, ethnicity and financial line. It touched a little on history but show kink is everywhere. In addition to one must live for oneself not the public.
This is “The Ghetto Girl Romance Quadrilogy” book one from Tristan’s POV. The read was similar to the book from Keisha’s POV, but with six years between this book and today, it appears we won’t ever get the last half of the story. I have sufficient buy-in to want the last book, but I’ll never get it. That failing cost this book a star.
Audible. I really liked this book and the audible version is great. Bwwm with bdsm in the mix. He’s a millionaire of course I’m finding in most of these books they are. You’ll really enjoy the chase. He genuinely loves her but he can’t bring himself to I do.
I read this book not realizing it was actually book 4 in the series. It was the male's POV from book 1. Oh well, it was good so I guess I have to start at book 1 now so that I can fill in the blanks before moving on to book 2.
An interesting read. Enjoyed the narrative from the male point of view. Interesting view into the world of bdsm. Interracial cast also added an additional element to this love affair.
This is my first book written by LaVie . The storyline was sexy and interesting. Just left me wanting to know if Keisha could have changed Tristan mind. I enjoyed the characters also. Thanks 👍
In being curious about this lifestyle i found this to be a great read. In explores the subject just enough to get a feel for it. Lesbian was a great character
Well written. This book is funny, romantic, steamy, heartwarming. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have the entire series, and I've read them several times. Was looking forward to the next book in the series.
Well, well, well. I finally got into the mind of Tristan White. I am aware that another author joined in to write this novel and it was obvious. There were certain phrases and thoughts from Tristan that he would not have expressed in the other books of the series.
These phrases made me uncomfortable and almost changed my view of my latest book crush. One such phrase was when he referred to Jada as Nathan's concubine. That pissed me off to no end, seeming as how he and Keshia have a similar arrangement. That word is loaded with racial innuendo, something not consistent with Tristan's personality. He would never be reduced to name calling. He is above that, even for someone he dislikes.
Another time was when he said he was getting good at charming little black ladies. The Tristan I knew and loved from the original books would never have even thought to use the descriptive 'black'. If anything, he would have said that he was getting good at charming older ladies.
For these reasons and more, this POV was not endearing. I am not sure why the original author handed this character off to another writer, but I am not sure I would be interested in any further books of this nature. I loved Tristan in the first three books. Please do not ruin him by turning him into a petty man with misogynistic and racial tendencies.
