Won this in the official Giveaway. I thank Kritika Sharma for a copy

And a copy it was. Half Baked Beans have done a great job with this books' design. It is really nice to hold and the smoothness is something I can't write but exclude at the same time from my review.

You may think I am crazy, but I do judge the books cover art and there handiness! In terms of that, top 5 covers I have felt this year.

Coming to the story. Well, a bit more about the design first.

When I won this, I read the blurb and I must say the paranormal theme is what intrigued me. So the title gets you hitched and you wait for the book to arrive.

The story is a nice and sweet one. Without hassle, it is one of the simple love stories that I enjoyed. The well-beings of a homespun young girl who gets involved in a spooky accident. (Pun Intended)

Her character is one of charisma more than Jai's.

Plainly written and breeze to read. I read this in one sitting over the midnight.

The author delivers what she promises. An ably baked love story with a ghost. Different and you may quite like to read this one!

The characters are the pivotal strongholds that steer this story. Miranda and her best friend and their moms.

The backstory of playboys and how they reform is yet another thing, Kritika has duly written.
How people chase wrong things in life and it gets them nowhere at the end of the lane. How love can transform your very personality's core.

This can be a movie.
Really the book is that good yet uncomplicated.

Ghost romance is a genre unexplored in India, yet.

(I wish they all use this cover material in all the books they publish. I hope you got the message Half Baked Beans. You did a great job.)

Verdict : For the simplicity and ease of reading, 3 Stars to Kritika's debut!

I’m fond of ghost stories. A ghostly romance reminded me of a movie in Malayalam, and I was intrigued by the plot. It was when I was discussing with another book lover that I came to know there was a movie with a similar plot in English and in Hindi as well. It made me wonder if the book flowed in a similar way.

Kritika Sharma makes her debut with this book, “Live-in with a Ghost”. Jia wakes up in a hospital one night, and wanders around the empty halls, where she runs into Jai who is surprised that she can see him. He realizes that she, like him, is having an “out-of-body experience”. She wakes up, and he continues to be visible to her. After a while, she accepts his presence, and slowly begins to fall for him. But will he remember the times when he wakes up?

I didn’t expect to be surprised by how the tale flowed, because I had an idea how it might, and it did end up going in that direction. For those who have watched the movie, it might seem like dejavu, but the author’s style of narration is quite different and enjoyable as well. It helps to bring across the confusion that the character feels. There are even touches of humor like the ghost saving Jia (when only Jia can see him).

Characters-wise, the two main characters in the book are Jia and Jai. Both are interesting, and stand out. He’s romantic, but quite caring and wise and quick-witted. His back story adds a different dimension to his character which makes the romance between him and Jia more interesting, I feel. Jia, though she takes time to accept the fact that she can see a ghost, does seem the perfect match for Jai. Other than them, Jia’s sister is the only one who feels like is given prominence.

The novel could use another run through editing and proofreading though, as I could see typos here and there. I think Jai waking up towards the middle would have given more options to work with, rather than him waking up at the very end. When the blurb says, “he does wake up, but if he remembers her is yet to be known…” I’d expected Jai to wake up somewhere toward the middle, have trouble remembering his “out-of-body experience” and Jia to woo him back, so a one page conclusion that wrapped things up felt very odd and underwhelming.

The book is a quick one-time read, and can be a companion for a couple of hours’ journey. A decent debut, which makes me wonder what the author has in store for us with her next novel.

Was I surprised?
very

Do I recommend it?
You Betcha!

I distrust modern Indian authors. And I am definitely being a hole "where the sun don't shine".

And I am changing my tune.

This one is an original enough storyline, cute characters and plot and good writing.
I am so happy with this one!!

My friend recommended the book considering her sister wrote it.
Well the title is intriguing and very different. Plus the cover is also very attractive, I would have liked more if the cover was more metallic and shiny, instead of plain, anyway, leaving cover aside, the story is amazing
Simply loved it. The way it is written is simple and understandable.
The command on English grammar is good and characters are beautifully woven.

Honestly I fell in love with Jai... I wish I could have a guy like him in real life :)

My rating for the book is 4/5.

Must read for a different story

Live in with the ghost is a story of Jia and Jai. Yes, alphabets interchanged like they are their own. One has a body and other does not have it (Ghost). Once they both did not have it and once they will both again have it. Confused? Okay! Let me simplify it, 'Live in with the Ghost' is a story of Jia who met an accident and fell into a coma. She met Jai, who is also in a coma because of an accident. They meet and start having good moments together when Jia got out of her comma leaving Jai behind (still as a ghost). He followed her and made her remember that they met before once they both were in a coma (Ghost). Still not getting it? Okay, then do grab this book and read a beautiful out of the box story.

Pros:
Out of the box topic.
A few really amazing moments to make you wonder
Twists
a beautiful and justified ending.

Cons:
A little boring and out of place in the start, but don't give up keep reading.
It could be a masterpiece but author just tried making it a light read, I don't know why

There are some books that can take you to a totally different world. You find a way to escape from your problems and chores whenever you bury your nose in such books. Well, Live-in with a Ghost is one such book that can provide you a delightful mini-break. Recommended to anyone who wants to read a light-hearted, unique romance novel!

Let me tell in the beginning that this book is not exactly a ghost story. So don't expect any amount of horror or spine-chilling thrill in it. That doesn't mean that the book is not interesting. In fact, it is one of the most fast-paced, gripping and unique love stories that I have read in recent times.

The story begins with Jia, a journalist who goes into coma after a road accident. During that time, her soul gets out of her body and wanders in the passages of the hospital till she meets a fellow soul, Jai. Jia learns that Jai has been in coma for a long time and his soul is wandering in this way since then. Jia finds Jai extremely attractive and they become friends soon.

However, owing to Jia's good luck, she gets out of the coma the next day. After waking up, she can see the ghost (spirit) of Jai everywhere. Read the complete review here: http://purbareviews.blogspot.in/2015/...

The story is different and i like the writing style,
What i like about the book is -
simple language and the narration is lucid.
concept is unique
Jia, a journalist by profession, goes into coma probably. and is just one step before

death.

The story has two main characters and the story revolves around them.
“Jia and Jai! It looks like our names are shuffled for each other

Jai was there in the hospital from Three months
He meet with Car crash and have been in a coma since then.

Jai is shown here as a kind of very Richie-Rich guy who just had Live-in with a Ghost
everything to show off and did everything just to impress girls.

It shows the journey of Jia and Jai, the time both Jia and Jai spend together. Their relationship which include tears, laughter, love and even fights.

The story is sweet and intriguing. I wish to read more from the author in the future.
I would give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars .

Live-in with a ghost

Cover : 2.5/5
Cover design needs to be improved. Doesn't match with the story overall. Gives a romantic depiction whereas the title gives a spooky one.

Title : 3.5/5
The title is justified with the story. But the suspence part can incorporate the title into something else.

Theme : 3/5
What if you woke up one day and found yourself in coma. The events which happen and how a person who helps you recover from it matters a lot.

Story : 2.5/5

spooky reads. Nothing much out of the box or unique. Typical bollywood serial or movie story.
Personally I feel there could be many elements which could be added altogether making it better.

Jia loves Jai.. but what does Jai want. Her, yet he cannot be with her. How strange… A beautiful tale of love and passion. Though passion is a small aspect, I liked every bit of it. A must read for anyone who wants to do a light sweet love reading.

My review

For those non-Indians who don’t know, in India a slight swap in the spelling of a name can alter the gender like in this novel Jia is the girl and Jai is the boy. Funny huh?
This is a really short novel, a 150 pages and very fast. The author doesn’t believe in too much character building and she goes with the story. And yet I didn’t hate it. Sometimes it’s good to read a fast-paced book concentrating on the story more than the characters.

Characters

As I said the characters were not fully narrated until they speak for themselves and tell more about themselves in their short conversations. Jai is clearly a spoilt brat and he is a playboy or was a playboy and now a oh-now-I-know-that-I-hurted-many-girls-but-now-I’m-reformed character. Jia is a journalist working day and night without complaining and always listening to what other people said but after she met Jai she realised she is the one who has to take her decisions. She can’t always listen to others and stop living her way.

Plot

The plot starts with Jia waking up in a room and then realising she is in a hospital but she’s not alone. She sees a man staring at her. He runs forward and is very happy to see her. He is Jai. Slowly Jia comes to know that she now does not exist in her body rather she is in the second dimension where she is ghost and her body is in coma. They talk for half a day and then Jia comes back. But it looks like she doesn’t remember her short encounter with Jai.
Then she again sees a man and she gets a feeling of deja vu. She can see Jai in the ghost form! Here starts the journey of failing in love. But what they don’t remember is that Jai is still a ghost and when he wakes up he will forget her. But he promises her that he’ll always remember her. What will happen? Will he forget her? Will her power of love make him remember her?

Writing style

The writing style was good and I can’t say great because that is reserved for some Pride & Prejudice type of novels! No seriously, I liked it and I finished it in a day but I’ll not recommend someone to BUY it and read. You can surely borrow from a library or a friend but using your money here will not give you any great results. And if you already own it then please honor others by lending them for a short fun read.

I was provided with this paperback copy from the author in a Goodreads giveaway.

This novel really made me infuriated. I mean Every single guy appears doesn't necessarily needs to be a charming, handsome millionaire with an audi 6 SUV/Ferrari/BMW and especially "fair-complexion"ed. All over the book was the author's materialistic desires incorporated into characters.

The plot and the narrative was fine and pretty good, eventhough it gets too much melodramatically cliché at times. Especially the chapter 'the best surprise' was quite beautiful but the materialistic approach to everything got on my nerve and i was, at times, clenching my teeth and skimming the pages in order to finish it ASAP and throw it away.

And it pays no respect to the psychology of the human mind. Jia is angry and furious when she listens to jai's playboy stories but at the same time, when he touches to convince her, shivers pass down her body and almost she wants to breed!? Jia 'never' forgives when guys dump girls like that and "she totally believes in it" in a passage, but in the next passage, if the guy is even a rapist but a fair complexion-ed millionaire, she might feel that he sets her body on fire whenever he touches her. Ughh. Man what the heck?

Title is what interested me to read then the cover. I really liked it.

Now if we talk about the plot it was nothing new for me as a wattpader. Still I pretty much liked it.
It is a novella that's why a little fast paced. I was hoping to see more from the ending as it is...just a happy ending. Like how after Jai woke up he didn't question to Jia about her story and they just happened.

Though there are some key features too to the story. Like how it had it's hilarious dialogues- mainly of Jai. And that name matching Jai-Jia.

Overall it is a one time read for me.

The best part about the book is It is unique. The idea of live in with a ghost in itself is a great and interesting topic to read. The character Jai and Jia are amazing, their love for each other was cutely expressed. How she fell for a casanova and how Jai turns out to be a true lover has been written so beautifully . You just cant rest until you are done with the book. I really loved it . Recommended for people who are fond of love stories

I know right from the beginning such a relationship might have interesting complications but still not gonna lie, I want a ghost boyfriend that only I can see him. If he gets annoying I'll exorcise him but only temporarily!
I mean really, who gets to have a handsome, funny, hot ghost boy as a bf?
Pros: He will be there whenever you need him, walls and miles don't count!
Gonna keep an eye out for the next part, Cliffhanger sucks!

I had not heard of this book and just happened to chance by it, and I do wish I had heard of the book and the author earlier. It was a breezy romance and the premise was unique. A few pages into the book, I almost groaned as I thought this was a "lift" from a movie that I had seen a few years ago - but it turned out to be nothing like that. It was such a different perspective and a fresh plot. In my view, the book is totally from the female protagonist POV, so readers who like this style of story telling will really dig it. There are some interesting and relatable characters in this book despite the premise being outlandish, and in that the author really scores. You are in a paranormalish setting but still it's all believable. Also, it is quite difficult to keep the pace when one character can speak only to one other character, so again a shout out to Sharma for handling this so well. The author places some great hooks which obviously will be spoilers, so you have to read it yourself. And, yes, it's not over yet. I would like to imagine that Part 2 is going to be "drama" packed. Hmm...the title is misleading and the protagonist herself may not like the title. Another thing that didn't fit well with me is that it was obviously from a female perspective, so while I could appreciate the narrative, I couldn't identify with the story as much. Perhaps to keep the length short, the author has left many characters hanging, but I am almost certain that this is a set up for part 2. I will be buying part 2 on the day it becomes available.

A very different and very beautifully presented story. This is story of Jia and Jai. Jia is a journalist and Jai is a rich playboy. The introduction of the lead roles in the story was the strangest ever I have read. Jai and Jia happen to meet and both are impressed with each other right away.
As they both start understanding each other, Jai -Jia fall in love with each other. Jai confesses his doing yet promises Jia that she will be "the girl" in his life. He in-fact saves Jia and her friend from one of his playboy friends. Jia trusts him and falls for him.
Their physical status does bother but then they are completely happy with their love life. The other characters in the story like, Miranda, Jia's boss are so realistic, So are Jai's parents.
The ending of the book is of course predictable but still it is a very good story line. I am waiting for the next, from the author.

Even when nothing goes in the right direction, love always finds a way…!

Love story at the Fourth Dimension..

Jia and Jai two opposite poles. Jia a serious journalist and Jai a rich spoiled brat. Two such people cross eachother paths when they are hospitalised after an accident. What starts as a surprise become friendship, but suddenly it's scary, then friendship again what slowly turns to true love..!
But is this correct..?
What happens to Jia?
What happens to Jai?
Will the true love survive?
To know more enjoy the story...

The author's style of writing and the flow of story is simplistically beautiful. In a world of glamour the author turns innocence a style.

I ran through the book because of the old school love story genre of the book.
It was a quick read and honestly speaking most part of it was predictable.. the ending is left to imagination but I would have wanted it to have a happy ending.
Writing style is nice and easy... The chemistry created is something of a Dreamland... Unrealistic at some points ... But then love is deciphered in different ways and is always a amusing bubble...

Why such an abrupt ending?

Story is nice. Characters are good, especially of Jia. I loved her.

It is clear they are meant for each other.

Overall the pace of the book was fine, but except in the end… why such an abrupt ending? Author should have written more… give more details. How Jai woke up… what happened… so many unanswered questions.

I seriously didn’t like the end!
