After losing her family to feral shifters, Dani dedicated her life to eradicating those responsible, almost reaching Agent status with Sigma. Uncertainty about the network, and questions about their purpose were plaguing her when she was tasked with a mission that would forever change her and send her running toward those she once sought to destroy.
Mercury’s past and unique looks kept him distant from people, including those of his own species. Then he captured a beautiful Sigma recruit who claimed to need his help while her scent claimed to be carrying his young.
Bitter enemies brought together, they must rely on each other to keep Sigma from getting their hands on Dani, or the growing life inside of her.

Marie Johnston is an award-winning, best-selling paranormal and contemporary romance writer. She grew up in the upper Midwest and planned to go to college for English. Didn't happen. She started college in accounting and was awful! Grabbing her inner science geek by the pocket protector, she changed to microbiology and medical technology where her only writing involved scientific articles and procedures.
Eventually, she left full-time work for full-time baby raising but kept thinking, "one day, I'd like to write a book." Finally, before any more time passed, Marie decided to buckle down and write. She loves it!

First off, let me say that I hate myself. I figured I wouldn't buy the 3rd book in this series until I got home because I needed to get work done today. Stupid me. I'd rather be reading! And after this book, gawd, I need, the 3rd book. Think work would notice if I slacked off? No? Me neither. ;)

Okay, where to begin? Mercury? Love him! Sweet, a little social awkward, and just a bit scary, but in the delicious way. Dani, yep, loved her, too. Smart, resourceful, and kick ass. These two were great together. And you know what I really love? That they actually talked! No misunderstanding bullshit that couldn't be cleared up by just talking like two adults.

And X... wow, Agent X, you are one "crazy like a fox" woman. The mystery around her is slowly unraveling, but still so much to learn about her. Does she get a book? Huh? Please say yes.

Well, I've dissolved into fangirling again. Perhaps after I read book 3, I'll be more coherent... Naa!

Not bad

I kind of like this werewolf series. The werewolves aren't to over the top. Its got great escapes and rescues. I even like the romance and love that blossomed between Dani and Mercury.

I'm still not sure if I liked this or it was just whatever for me. It wasn't anything great but I didn't dislike it either, it was just, there I guess. Didn't mind reading it but I'm not gonna pick it up again either.

Dani should have been honest from the start but I get why she didn't in the end and I don't hold that against her because she has her reasons. She knew it would be harder to gain their protection if she'd been completely upfront because they're a harsh group who are suspicious of everyone regardless how innocent they seem. She needed them to be on her side and would eventually have told them no doubt, but she needed their help for her baby's sake first and foremost. If she'd told them right away that she'd killed shifters even though they were feral beasts who killed her family, they would have locked her up and not listened to a word she said in her own defense. I felt that Dani was judged too harshly and treated unfairly after she came clean. I get their hesitance before the truth came out but after there was no excuse.

Mercury also got on my bad side when he abandoned her for weeks knowing she was pregnant and that his "brothers" didn't trust or like her and wouldn't care for her the way he did. He was someone who I initially liked but my perception of his character turned unfavorable to him when he wouldn't open himself up to her because he still didn't trust her along with the others and even more after he just up and left her. I just felt like he was looking for any excuse to keep his distance from her and that's cowardly to me. He didn't stand up for her the way he should have and let the others get away with trash talking her right to her face, mumbling under their breath, or when he wasn't around. If he had done more for her and demanded they show her respect the way they weirdly do with Cassie the selfish mate rejecter, and Kaitlyn the slut with a pea sized brain.

Kaitlyn is still being an idiot who needs to have a filter put on her mouth for what is and isn't appropriate to say to the mate of someone she messed around with. What she said was the equivalent of " Oh yeah, I f*cked around with your mate before but it totally meant nothing. He's all yours hon. Maybe now that you're here he'll stop waiting around for me." The last sentence being made as a joke, no, just no. Stop! That's not something she wants to hear and even though it's not meant as an insult it comes across as you're just rubbing it in.

The rest of the book was fine and I liked it enough I guess, to say I didn't not like it. It was nothing amazing but it didn't grate on my nerves like the first one. I guess if you're looking for something very light to pass the time or want something short this is cool but I wouldn't pay more than $2 for it at most.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on book two of this series and I was not disappointed! Dani and Mercury make for one hot couple in Primal Claim. With all of the intense passion of book one, throw in an unexpected experimental baby, a psychic connection, human understanding, and some serious action scenes, not to mention setting the background for what promises to be an awesome series of at least five books, and you get a hot paranormal romance novel! Reminiscent of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, the Guardians are tall, powerful, exceedingly sexy shifters who are tasked with defending and protecting their species against the Sigma and more importantly the evil Madame G who has dark plans of her own that go beyond Sigma's hate for shifters.

Finding their mates helps the Guardians get more in tune with their special abilities, for Mercury that means getting some control over his telekinesis and mindspeaking capabilities when he and Dani are together. Dani is a former Sigma agent who is aware of how wrong things are going there and wants to make a break for it. being forcefully impregnated by the sick Madame G with the sperm of a Guardian sends her into serious mama-bear mode and she busts out of their fortress only to run into her future mate, Mercury, a strong, quiet shifter who spent the first years of his life as a wolf and has to work very hard to communicate the way humans do.

Marie Johnston's storytelling capabilities are abundantly clear in this book. The pace and flow of her writing is superb and make this a quick, easy read filled with action, romance, danger, sex, and even a little humor. I really enjoyed this book and recommend this series to lovers of paranormal romance.

Mercury rising and descending fast...for his mate. Finding out you're a baby daddy without having any of the fun to be one has to be more frustrating than usual, especially for this Pale Moonlight Den player-player?! Mercury is not what he appears at first glance in Fever Claim. I actually like him in this story after I thought he was just another mindless, horny shifter character providing background clutter for Jace and Carrie. Surprisingly, and thankfully I was wrong. Mercury actually has a personality. He says what he means, means what he says and doesn't bother sugar-coating anything. Enter rebellious human and Madam G protege, Daniella Maria Sofia Santini, who flees the Sigmas with a little something extra and heads straight to Mercury. Mercury's new to the whole dating and mating game and is about to get schooled quickly. Of course no one gets away from Madam G without a little something evil in tow. Will Dani and Mercury's little bundle bring them joy or pain? Enjoyable read. The editing is still pretty bad but the suspense and intrigue captured my attention enough and allowed me to continue reading. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 4 stars.

4.5 stars!

Wow, I liked the first one, but this one really took things to the next level. Mercury was just ...perfectly imperfect. Love this man; the outsider, the loner, the strange one. (And yes, sexy as all get out!)

Dani is forced to undergo a brutal procedure at Sigma, one that leaves her no choice but to get out and get out fast, and go to the very race that wiped out her family. But she isn't prepared for Mercury.

And Mercury isn't prepared to meet a woman who smells like she'd carrying his child, paticularly since he's never actually .... Well, just read it!

This is super fast paced, full of scorching shifter and nasty bad guys—and the story sucks you in with a vengeance. It's wild, hot and full of twists. I need Bennett's story, and what is up with Agent X??? Argh....

#3 I am grabbing you, SOOOOOON. :D

LOVE LOVE LOVE this series!

I was wondering how well I would do reading about Madame G having something to do with a baby, and Mari pulled it off excellently. We finally start to see the workings of Sigma and how corrupt the system is as well as find out that the Lycan system has its own flaws. Its like Conspiracy Theory meets Underworld!

I love the characters and that they truly work together. I want to know more about Master Bellamy and Irina, and what happened to them...I think we will see more of that play out in the future.

I cant wait to read about more of the shifters and hope the series continues to evolve

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've read plenty of vampire books, but this was the first time I read a fantasy romance with shifters. Although the prevalent themes are love, marriage, and family, the sex scenes as well as the period of courtship leading up to the first sexual encounter were extremely hot. I especially loved the virgin Alpha guy theme and the fact that Mercury cannot be swayed or tempted by any other female but his mate. He is most certainly the perfect dream guy. I recommend this book to romance enthusiasts as well as anyone who loves werewolves and vampire fantasy.

Madame G isn't giving up after her efforts with Jace and Cassie's forced mating failed. No, she has bigger and more dangerous plans that require Mercury's genetics and a willing host. Well, in Dani's case, not so willing. It matters very little, though, because there's something much more sinister with this plot than anyone realizes.

Mercury is more than he appears and even his closest comrades don't fully understand him. They trust him, are committed to protecting him and having his back, they even mostly like him, but truly knowing him is beyond reach. There's something that's calling to him, needs him, and for days he's been searching. Until one day a smaller woman covered in blood and weapons is being attacked on the road by Sigma recruits and underneath all that, this woman smells like him. He's never seen her before but he's certain she's carrying his child.

Dani is a recruit who has done nothing but live for vengeance for years. Until she's in so deep that she can't see a way to escape. Worse, her newest mission is one she never dreamed she'd be tasked with. Madame G has chosen her to bear the child of a Guardian shifter. Once it's clear she's been successfully breeded she knows she must find a way out. With the life inside her strengthening her and giving her the determination she needs to escape at the first chance she takes it. Pursued by agents, recruits, and a raging storm from Madame G herself, she races to the probable safety of her baby's father.

Between secrets, retrieval attempts, and a passion neither of them have ever known before, this is a roller-coaster of a story. Dani learns about Mercury, all of his depths and subtleties, and finds herself falling for him. What began as an urgent need for protection for her child becomes so much more, deeper, and necessary. Mercury is incredibly drawn to Dani. Not knowing if he can trust her keeps him from taking those last steps to claiming her but he's beginning to understand that those efforts are futile. It's only a matter of time before he gives in to their passion and magnetism. He wants her. He wants her forever.

I liked what little we learned about Mercury peripherally in Fever Claim and now I can fully say I love him. He's strong, faithful, loyal, complicated, devoted, honest, and even under-the-radar mischievous and amusing. It's a surprise what we learn of him and it drives deep. Dani is a great match for him with strength, resolve, commitment, and intensity. They make a superb partnership and the talents they have together are a revelation for the Guardians as a whole. Their group is growing and the drama is getting bigger, more intense, and I'm so very eager to continue with True Claim for Bennett's story.

Read and very willingly reviewed this ARC from the author.

Possible spoilers...

I really really enjoyed this sequel... I'm binge reading the series now...

So Dani is cute... Lies aside... I mean I get it I do but seriously?

Mercury... He's so fabulous... Blunt and no nonsense, absolutely amazing. I love the fact that Dani sees that he's so much more than everyone (including him) sees.

It seemed a little rushed... But more insight into Agents X and E... Awesome... And Mason? Really? There was nothing leading up to that little twist at all... I mean the previous book didn't really show him much but it seems he was there basically for that one reason alone...

So, I read it a few days ago and I've read the next book (I had to leave it settle and the next book brought up something I cannot quite grasp so I have to vent) and Mercury is telekinetic... So he can move stuff with his mind... Right? But not much else...

This was a good book in my opinion, but not a great book. I prefer the first book and would have liked to see more of Cassie and Jace in the second book. Don't get me wrong, Dani and Mercury are both well rounded characters, but there wasn't really anything that made me want to binge read this book. I did purchase the 3rd book with hopes that there will be some redemption for the series in my eyes. I always finish a series when I start it so I haven't lost hope yet for what is to come.

Awesome! Loved it all!

Ive completely enjoyed reading this series. Marie Johnston really incorporates the human factor and emotional facto in her shifters without it being OVERLY dramatic. I don't like to get too lost in the drama surrounding mates, but she weaves the tales so intricately that you are caught up in not just the characters but the overall story. I'm recommending this series to all my friends.

Wow

I’m really happy I found this author and I am loving that they have a long term sub-plot (I wouldn’t call it a sub tho, it’s pretty crucial to the series) on top of the books main plot. I love when romance authors do this amd it is surprisingly hard to find. I definitely recommend this book and also HIGHLY a recommend reading the first book before this one. There is important backstory in it.

I like this one

I was hoping for way more Mercury than there was in this book, but what I did get was perfect to his character. I wanted to read this one even after the debacle of the first one and fortunately the formatting is way better this time around. I really like Dani, even though she was basically the exemplar of digging two graves when seeking vengeance.

Mercury and Dani must save their baby.

I loved Mercury's personality, with his quirks and sense of humor. Dani may have made some bad decisions in her youth, but she will fight to the death to protect her baby. Marie Johnston's story with the heat and action, there is never a dull moment.

This romance shifter novel can be read as a stand alone, also I think you`ll enjoy it more when you start with book one (Fever Claim) of this series. The love story is self-contained, but the background story builds up from book to book.
Dani and Mercury's story is like Fever Claim a action packed story; but with a constant feeling of fear and loss.

Brilliant

Primal Claim by Marie Johnston. Dani is impregnated with Mercurys sperm that was stolen from the night club. As soon as it's confirmed she is pregnant Dani makes her escape from Sigma. Of course escape is detected and she is chased. As she is caught the Guardians find her. Imagine Mercurys surprise when he realises this woman he's never met is pregnant with his baby.

Vampire made

Great story and it was hard to put down. Loved how you don't know all the good or bad people in the group s or communities. Love how the story continues to the next story in making the series. Can't wait to read when the babies are born and who gets the next mate.

Good story with some grammar problems.

Would have given 4 stars but the grammar issues bothered me. The story was good and Mercury was a good hero. The series storyline was advanced well. I wasn't thrilled with Dani but she was ok.

I downloaded Primal Claim as a free ebook from Amazon. Part of the Sigma series, this was easy to read without book one first The plot was very unique and always surprising, with twists and turns to keep the reader wondering how all the problems will get resolved.

I've read other works by this author but never before a paranormal romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Even though this is book 2 in the series, the author provided enough background information for me to figure out what was going on. The characters were well-developed and likeable (except for Madame G, of course). The plot was exciting, and the chemistry between Mercury and Dani was fantastic.

Different story but a little confusing! Thought I'd try someone different but did not quite feel the story line was any good but maybe that's just me!
