Frankie
The only thing I crave is a peaceful existence. I’m scared, I’m tired and I just want to wake up each day not afraid of him finding me. What I never wanted to find was Hardy Hanson. Turns out, cravings, once fed, morph into something different. I couldn’t ignore the need he awakened in me, but giving into it would mean only one thing. We would both go up in flames.

Hardy
When I’m in, I’m all in. I was born to protect and my second chance at redemption came when I crashed into Frankie Windsor. The problem was, she was so damaged, I wasn’t sure even I could save her, but I was willing to put it all on the line to risk enough for the both of us to finally find some peace. What I didn’t know, was just how dangerous loving her would be for both of us.

4.5 / 5 stars

Without taking anything away from Holly Mortimer, I would like to say after reading IGNITE, I'd like to retract my 4.5-star rating of BLINDSIDED and give it either a heavy 3.5 or light 4, because IGNITE?

IGNITE blew me away.

Where BLINDSIDED didn't hold my attention for long and it took me time to read, I was transported to the beach that IGNITE takes place at, and was so engrossed in the shy-but-could-be-feisty Frankie and the firefighter-with-his-own-dark-past Hardy.

Where I liked Finn and George, I loved Hardy and Frankie. Oh my goodness, did I love these two broken people. What starts out as silent runs (but not running partners, thankyouverymuch) becomes a friendship that Frankie wasn't looking for. Slowly, Hardy breaks down her walls -- or rather, he tries to; Frankie's walls are thick and she has them for extremely good reasons. With her past, she doesn't stay planted in one place for long, and aside from George and Sam, she's a loner in the world -- better to keep her hidden from her past, and all that jazz.

What Holly Mortimer does extremely well this go around is her suspense. From the nightmare/remembering in the first moments of the book, to the big boom of the story, you're gripped in Frankie's fight. Hardy and his alpha tears grip you, too, and you can't help but feel for this broken man who hides his feelings oh-so-well.

The one small issue I had with the writing, which I don't recall noticing in BLINDSIDED, was that Holly, on occasion, would switch between past and present tenses (example {not in the book but my own example} "I grabbed my cup and went to the table. I sit and pick up the newspaper..."). These instances were about the only time I found myself drawing out of the story, simply because they confuse my brain a little bit.

Beyond that, though, this story was incredibly gripping, well written, and you can't help but root for Hardy and Frankie. I have a feeling, though, that book three will be just as exciting. I'm very curious about this Brennan character that shows up at the end... Why, exactly, does Sam need you, pray tell...

4 Stars!

This was such a good book. Very sweet and highly emotional, this author gave us a beautiful romance that was told us a story of two broken people finding healing and love from their pasts. This book will speak deep in your soul and makes you a believer in second chances. This author is new to me and I will definitely be looking forward to the future books in this series. This book is a standalone and offers readers a beautiful happy ending that will leave you smiling big.

This is Frankie and Hardy's story. They are both broken. Their pasts have tragedy and heartache that has left both of them just a shell of who they use to be but their stories couldn't be more different. Frankie is on the run, never staying one place to long and Hardy is a widow still grieving. When Frankie and Hardy crash into each other's lives, it gives them a spark of hope and a taste of what could be. Can they take the risk? And when the past comes barreling back in, will they be able to handle the consequences? Watch this beautiful romance unfold that will leave you in tears.

I loved Hardy. He was so sweet and kind. I loved his personality and the tenacity he had when he was pursuing Frankie. I also admired his strength and how he pushed through no matter what. And Frankie.. she was a mess of contradictions at times but her life was hard so I got it. At times I found myself shaking my head and wanting to tell her to give Hardy a chance. This slow build romance made me swoon and fall in love. I cannot wait for more books in this series in the future.

I recommend this book.

“Ignite” by the talented Holly Mortimer has easily landed itself as one of my favorite reads of 2015. I dove into this story blindly—I didn’t read its synopsis so I had no idea what it was about. I will tell you, though…I knew I would love its premise as soon as I finished the first chapter.

“He stifled my creative soul and pushed me farther away from my true self.”
—Frankie Cain in Ignite by Holly Mortimer

“Ignite” tells the story of a young artist by the name of Frankie Cain who is living on the run from an abusive and violent relationship at the hands of an influential man. She has never known stability…planting roots in one place simply doesn’t fit into her survival equation. But that will quickly change when she moves to the beachside, and bumps into Fire Chief Hardy Hanson. Running from her past and lurking in the shadows will no longer be an option for Frankie, and Hardy will do anything to shelter her from whatever storms that come their way.

“Am I? Good. I intend to push your limits a little each day, Frankie. I think you like it. I think you need me to set the pace. Whatever killed that little light inside of you, I’m here to let you know it can come back.”
—Hardy Hanson in Ignite by Holly Mortimer

The story is straightforward yet the writing is beautifully crafted…its simplicity should not be taken for granted for the meat of this pie lies in the wondrous storytelling Mortimer has weaved throughout the pages of this novel. I found myself at the end of my seat at points because there were twists and turns I wasn’t expecting, and rooting for these two to have a happy ending had me turning the pages quickly. I read “Ignite” in one sitting, and have a re-read planned—a sure sign that I became enamored with the story.

Because I went into this story blind, I was unaware this is novel is the second installment of The Sisters Series…characters previously presented in the first novel make an appearance in “Ignite”, but it will not detract you from having a great reading experience. I have read a lot of books in my lifetime…it’s easy to spot a story that is written with heart and soul. “Ignite” was definitely not the exception. I would definitely recommend this read to anyone looking a soulful story about second-chance love. Sometimes hurt can bring happiness…

“He didn’t bother with words. He just choose right then and there to push my brain out of the way and tackle my heart.”
—Frankie Cain in Ignite by Holly Mortimer

*some abusive content that could be a trigger and some sexual moments*

I was given this Arc book in exchange for an honest review free of persuasion from the author and anyone else affiliated.

Holly Mortimer is fairly new to me and with all things new, you never know what to expect. While discovering this new adventurer, I found that the pen and thoughts of Holly Mortimer was guided with heart, sarcasm, and a world that introduces 2nd changes to characters with rough beginnings.

Brace yourself for the first page will have you feeling as if you are in the shoes of the amazing Frankie, who is a survivor of the very scary reality of abuse with a constant blind eye to the horror of its affect. Throughout you will get to see frankie aka frances begin to break out of her shell, especially when she meets Fire chief hardy, whom also has his fair share of heartbreaks and questions faith due to the why’s of events that occurred in his past.

Ignite is a story that has a conclusion of happiness with the journey of discovering freedom and new direction with no cliffhangers!!! Yeah for us whom despise that jaw dropping leave you hanging over the cliff by a nail ending!!

I give A++ for characters, storyline, creativity, and hitting that bit of sensitivity in my heart. I would have liked to have seen more interaction during the final major scene between past demons, but it is the vision of holly Mortimer and it did create the bit of boom needed!!!

Grab this book and enjoy this beautiful story!!!

5 soul burning stars

France's Cain is a woman on the run. After escaping an abusive relationship the only thing Frankie is concerned with is evading her abusive ex and staying alive. She doesn't stay in one city for too long so making friends isn't a concern for her.

Hardy Hanson, local fire chief, attracts women like moths to a flame. But, Hardy doesn't have room for the women around town who throw themselves at him- he focuses all of his attention on working and keeping his crew safe. That is until a fiery redhead burns down his defenses.

I don't think I've read a story as angsty and tender as Hardy and Frankie's in a long time. For a minute I thought this story was going to be predictable and I was preparing myself for the heartache that comes from reading a story that's cliché. I am more than thrilled to report that this is NOT a cliché. This is the kind of story you ready if you love romance but you want it mirrored to real life. These characters aren't ones that are made from sugar and spice and everything nice. These are character who are made from fire, sweat, and tears.

My only complaint is that the ending felt too short, if not a little rushed. I literally checked the percentage and cringed because there wasn't enough left for all that I wanted to happen (or at least for me to get as many details as the earlier chapters of the story).

Apparently this is a standalone within a series....guess I'll be reading the entire series now.

Ignite by Holly Mortimer is the first book I have read by her. Frankie has moved to the east coast to run from her past. Her takes this time to work on her art. She paints and runs along the beach to escape from the nightmare she left behind. She feels like she will always be running because of her past. What she didn't expect was to literally be run over by Chuck. Of course Chuck is a friendly take but his owner is even friendly and non other than the chief of the fire department Hardy Hanson. Hardy makes it his mission to get Frankie to open up about her past. Everyday he runs with her and slowly she starts to trust him. Frankie knows that she can't let Hardy get to close because she will run again to keep herself safe. What Frankie did not count on was falling for Hardy. Hardy is running from his past also. Can these two find happily ever after before it is to late, or will Frankie decide it is time to run away again?

I loved this book and look forward to the next book in the series. This is the second book but can be read as a stand alone. I did not read the first book but now I want to. I would recommend this book.

I loved this story so much! It is the story of Frankie who has been suffering from abuse of one form or another for years and with the help of her two best friends gets away. She knows she needs to keep moving because the alternative would be the end of her. What she never expected was to go out to the beach one day and have a giant dog fall in love with her and when she meets the dog's owner she begins to feel things she hasn't felt in years, if ever. Hardy has been dealing with his own demons and tragedy, but when he has a chance meeting with Frankie the walls around his heart begins to crumble. When Frankie thinks she may try to move on from her past with Hardy, her past comes back to haunt her. I loved how Ms. Mortimer made Frankie soft and obviously withdrawn because of the abuse, but didn't make her a victim. Frankie just needs to work through her emotions and once she does there is no stopping her and she is one tough chick! Loved her friends and Hardy's mom. Patrick's return was so suspenseful and added to the book. It wasn't just thrown in for space. Great story!

This is Frankie and Hardy’s story. On the run from her past she now spends time working on her art. While out running she meets Hardy. Hardy is also running from his past. The more they get to know each other the more the trust flows. But can Frankie ever really trust Hardy or will she have to keep her heart protected in case she has to run again? Or will the past interfere with the future these two could have had? Can Frankie face her past if she ever wants to work on a future?

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book and this author.

This book was offered to me by Holly Mortimer in collaboration with Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review. This is my 4 hot stars for Ignite by Holly Mortimer. This author is fairly new to me, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed in the least. The interesting blurb is what made me give this book a chance.

We have Frankie who's running from her past. She became the one person she vowed to never be, a victim. She's escaping from a physical and emotional abusive relationship. Frankie is a fighter and a survivor. She never stays very long at the same place for fear of being found. She's emotionally unattainable and has a problem with intimacy. She carries a lot of hurt and pain. Then she literally slams into Hardy.

Hardy is a hot, sexy alpha firefighter who's had his own traumatic experience in the past. He's never moved on from it until he mets Frankie. He's a protector and loves to take care of others. They are stronger together. Now Frankies past is catching up with her. Will Hardy save her in time?

I would sum it up as a nice love story about trust and giving love a second chance. Although fairly predictable, fast paced love story it had the right amount of angst to be a great page turner. Nicely written. It was an enjoyable and entertaining read . I really loved the epilogue and it was done well. There is closure for this couple. It's told in a dual POV with no cliffhanger and has an HEA. This is book 2 in the Sister series. Great start for this new writer. I recommend this book that readers will not want to miss. I will defiantly look out for future books for this author.

This was a great story of loss and tragedy and second chances. Frankie is running from an abusive ex…Hardy has also experienced a heartbreaking loss. Apart, they’re just existing. Together, they start to live again.

“Who’d have thought getting run down by a dog would lead to me coming out of the dark and welcoming a bit of the light.”

The obstacle will be convincing Frankie to take a chance again, to stand up for herself and stop running. Not an easy task but Hardy is up for the challenge and he’ll stop at nothing to keep her.

This story is full of heartbreak but it’s balanced out well with the laughs and happiness that these 2 share together. Both characters are very lovable and that just helps to make this an easy read. Overall, I really enjoyed this one but I’ll admit there were a few times where it seemed rather predictable.

Gifted copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A heartwarming story about two lost souls finding their second chance at love, and taking the chance when they are terrified of feeling the hurt and loss again.

Frankie thrives on quiet. Being alone and closed off is how she survives. The terror of him finding her lives inside her.

Hardy Hanson fights his memories on a daily basis. He isn't looking to move forward, but the minute he lays eyes on Frankie, he knows he was destined to meet her. Can he convince her that in his arms, she's safe?

Second book in a series, but can stand alone. Frankie and Hardy both have pasts that are difficult to overcome. But Frankie's past doesn't want to stay there. It's this plot line that gives this book what it needs to set it apart from your typical fire fighter romance. I loved how open Hardy was with his emotions. Cause real men do cry! Overall, this is a very entertaining read.

I Enjoy the friendship of this series very much. The way friends become sisters for life. The epilogue was very short for my taste. I would love to know a little more about this happy ending.
