He was born to kill her...but he'll risk all to save her.

Wild Hunt
, Book 1

Every day, Harley fights the urge to embrace the dark heritage that could turn her Unseelie. Evil. "Bad." A nightmarish monster like the ones that wiped out her family. The only thing keeping her on this side of Seelie is a promise made to the ghostly man who saved her that terrible night.

Whenever she's tempted, she calls up a vision of his eyes. Hears his voice calling her back from the brink of madness. Years later, when she returns to the scene of her living hell, he's her only hope for salvation.

Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, was created to protect mankind from the Unseelie Court, not love one of them. He never expected the rightness he felt with her all those years ago would explode into desire.

But saving her from a fate she can't escape could damn them both...and leave the world open for destruction.

Warning: Contains a half-fae woman who could really use a Seelie version of AA to stay clean and monster-free. And a rider of the Wild Hunt who'll take any risk to keep her safe from her enemies. Including himself.

The night her world became a deadly nightmare, Harley saw the creatures of darkness and she ran while hearing a comforting and powerful voice calling her. That voice belonged to the most compelling eyes she had ever seen, yes, just eyes, the imaginings of a girl desperate for safety or a vision of a being from another world? Harley is part human and part Unseelie, the daughter of the Unseelie King. She has strived to do good, be good, but the years and the hiding are taking their toll as she feels the darkside pulling her in, knows she is being followed, hunted like prey.

Nine years later, she returns to where she saw the eyes, heard the voice and he is there, suffering an eternity of torture along with his comrades to keep the humans safe. Calan is the leader of the Wild Hunt, children of the Lord of the Underworld created to end the reign of the Unseelie court and protect humanity. His duty is clear, but his heart calls to Harley. Theirs is a doomed love, there is no good outcome, but a soul-deep love cannot be denied, no matter the threats of eternal pain. The passion that exists between them is searing hot, carnal and intense.

Nancy Corrigan’s Hunter Deceived is dark, filled with passion, the devotion of two souls meant to be together, but the odds are against them and danger is around every corner. Feel the emotions, be part of the action and realize that maybe this time, love will not conquer all, no matter what the angels say. Unless...

Wonderful characters, supporting characters and a plot that is part hot as Hades, part tender as Love and all completely magnetic.

Clearly not a book interested in a plot, but in sexual situation and romance, or what pass as it in some books. By chap 4 the 2 have met once, but the sexual innuendo or thoughts are fully frontal. By chap 5 she masturbates thinking about him (the same guy she met once, and doesn't really trust). The setting is potential destruction of human world, her life on the balance, and her humaneness too. Believable. Sigh

Here I DNFed. Boring, and downright stupid in my personal ledger. :O

Pity it seemed a different book.

Are you serious right now? I finished? No…this can’t be happening! MORE!!! I. WANT. MORE!!!!! Please, please tell me I won’t have to wait too long to continue this awesome PNR.

Harley has been tormented by eyes of a “ghostly man” for 9 years, 9 years! She had made him a promise to live and return to him, but she didn’t really understand what those words meant as she was trying to escape the killer of her family. But true to her word, she lived, all while watching those who became somewhat close to her were killed by the same killer she’s grown to despise.

Calan is the son of the Lord of the Underworld, a.k.a., “the devil” (you should really read the .5 of this series to understand this part a little better). While serving out his curse in his own little prison, he’s able to reach out (in a ghostly being), saving Harley the fateful night of her family’s murder. It is then Calan knew he had to make Harley his mate. But was it too soon?

This has everything a PNR should have. A different world (underworld), the human world, deceit, greed and amazing scenes that will have you turning the pages so quickly, before you know it, you’ll end up like me asking, “wait, it’s over?” The only thing that I’m bummed about is that I have to wait for the next one to continue. Great start to a series…I’m already hooked!

~ 4 Wild Hunter Stars ~

Hunter Betrayed is book one in the Wild Hunt series by Nancy Corrigan. It grabbed me right from the start and kept me entertained. We get action, wonderful steamy scenes and an fascinating plot. Lots of fabulous supernatural creatures from dark fairies, demons, and all kinds of beings of the Underworld including it’s Lord.

Calan, a horseman, has been imprisoned for over a millennia. He is all alpha male. Harley, half bred fay, that has lived with death following her everywhere. Neither of them where created out of love, but maybe they can find love with each other.

Hunter Betrayed is an insta-love storyline. As I’ve said before I’m not always a fan of insta-love unless the author can do it justice. Ms. Corrigan did a suitable job making the insta-love work. The book starts off in the past over a millennia ago and works it’s way to present day. I really enjoyed the plot development, the things we learn about the Huntsman, their father, and the hot sizzling sex kept me engrossed. I really liked how the author portrayed the Huntsman. I can’t wait to learn more about them. I also enjoyed the description of the Huntsman’s father; in that he is not “inherently bad nor is he evil simply the god chosen to rule over hell.” Hell is different then what we would think. I liked how the author did this.

As for the lead characters. Calan I was drawn into his character the moment he was introduced to us. He is Alpha threw and threw. I just loved his Alphaness. The sexy was fantastic and written to make you hot and steamy. Oh baby! Hawt! Ms. Corrigan can write a sex scene. What did not work for me was Harley the heroine. I could not connect to her, she felt flat, not much depth in her character and the woe is me about who her father is and the evil inside herself got old fast. I wanted to smack her at times and tell her to get over herself. She has no control over who her father is, but she can control herself. I had a hard time picturing Harley and Calan together, I felt like she did not complement him enough. At the end thou Harley sorta redeemed herself to me, not fully, but I was in tears when she started to show a backbone and a need to sacrifice something for those she loves.

Ms. Corrigan has created a sensual sexy read. I am interested to see where things go in the plot and to learn more about the Huntsman. If you’re looking for a steamy paranormal romance grab this one.

For a millennium, Calan leader of the Wild Hunt has sacrificed to ensure the horrid creatures remain in the Underworld, but now he’s strength is waning and he must rely on his enemy’s daughter, Harley to save him and hopefully save her from the evil that taints her as well in this mesmerizing paranormal romance. The author has taken an intriguing myth and added her own unique elements to make for a very bewitching and sensational world with captivating characters. There was never a dull moment and I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning, the story was full of surprises and inspiring characters and well I have to say that Calan has stolen a piece of my heart so while I don’t know if the others can measure up to him or not, I can’t wait to find out.

Hunter Deceived Review:

Every day, Harley fights the urge to give in to her inner monster and embrace evil, the only thing that gives her the strength to carry on is a promise made to the man who was born to kill her in spellbinding paranormal romance.

Created to protect mankind from the Unseelie Court, Calan never expected to find to love with one of them and the reader can’t help but be drawn into the story as Calan discovers that saving Harley from her fate could damn them both and leave the world open for destruction. The chemistry sizzles with vibrant intensity and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but the relationship has a major drawback as the fate of the world hinges on Calan and Harley’s choices which causes lots of emotional turbulence and these strong, compelling characters capture the heart as they struggle to overcome evil while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.

The story starts off with spine tingling tension that builds into pulse pounding excitement as the danger escalates and Harley’s fight to keep from giving in to the rage caused by the evil stalking her gets harder and harder with unexpected twists adding spice. The well written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to immerse themselves in the story as the intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment.

My review for Hunter Betrayed still stands as the story was a great story to begin with but now it is even better as Nancy Corrigan has expanded the new version into a much more fulfilling story. It has been rounded out with better connections and greater detail which in turn leads to better understanding and adds more depth, making it even easier to become captivated by the fascinating world and the inspiring characters and I am looking forward to reading Hunter Forsaken and finding out what happens next.

I have read quite a few books involving Gods, Goddesses, and even a couple involving the hunt, but I have never read one where the love interest WAS the hunt. For me that set it apart. I admit I was expecting something far different from what I got! Her idea of the Hunt is very interesting and I would love to read more.

We meet Calan, eldest of the Huntsmen in the past as he is fighting to save a baby from being sacrificed to open the doorway to hell. He and his brothers and sisters save the baby from the evil only to fail to save themselves. They are imprisoned though Calan's imprisonment is different from the rest of the hunt since he pushed the curse on to them with their complete trust and understanding. Someone has to be free of the curse to save them all. He just needs a chance to escape his imprisonment by convincing an offspring of his enemy to unlock his shackles. When he meets Harley he knows he has not only met his salvation but his mate. She will be his, if only she will let him go and trust him.

We meet Harley Callahan when she has just turned 18. She is sneaking home after trying to have some normal teenage fun. Her night out ends in a nightmare with her parents killed. As she is running for her life a pare of pale-blue eyes appear before her with a voice speaking to her telling her and giving her the knowledge she needs to survive. He only asks that she comes back before the year is up and release him before he is moved again and it is years before he is returned to this spot.

Time passes and those who killed her family have kept her too busy to return until her brother is getting married and she can't miss him taking this step. She is always hunted, always stalked and always taunted with the death of those she has befriended. When she returns home for the first time in 9 years she must decide if she will keep her promise.

Will Harley be able to trust Calan enough to set him free to do what he promises? While gaining her trust will he also gain the love he wants? And finally will she be able to conquer the chaos in her body or succumb to it? This book was a good read. It has made me even more curious about Calan's brothers and sisters. The story was easy enough to follow though there were a couple of spots I wasn't sure what happened. I think maybe more because it was a new series than anything else. It certainly had enough heat to steam the walls! I am looking forward to the next in the series.

A super steamy and enjoyable paranormal romance, Hunter Betrayed was a wonderful read. From the hot romance, to the threat of the dark faeries, this book was great.

Harley and Calan were both great. Harley was tough, clever, and determined to do whatever she could to save, not only her loved ones, but any innocent caught in the battle. Calan was loyal to those he cared about and a very honorable man who was devoted to his duty as a protector of humans. They were both wonderful and likable characters.

The romance was VERY hot. Tons of steaminess guaranteed to make you fan your face. Though I wish there had been a tad more depth to their relationship, I thought it was sweet how they were willing to sacrifice anything for each other. They were a lovely couple.

The plot was well paced and I was kept engaged the entire way through. The constant threat of Raul, one of the dark faeries, kept things interesting. I enjoyed the story and the ending, while wrapping up the romance, left me curious about what would happen with the other huntsmen and how they dealt with the lingering threat. Looking forward to book 2!

Hunter Betrayed was a wonderful paranormal/erotic romance. From the super hot romance, to the thrills of danger, this book was very enjoyable. Romance lovers, this is a book worth checking out.

Hunter Deceived by Nancy Corrigan is a fast-paced interesting story about Fae that takes place in a modern setting. Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, has been imprisoned by Dar, the ruler of the Unseelie Court, and unable to protect the humans from their wrath. He needs the help of Dar’s half-breed daughter, Harley, to release him. He falls in love with her, and both will need to make sacrifices to save themselves and the world.

Nancy Corrigan does a great job with her character development. I like Calan. He is a worthy leader. He is willing to make sacrifices, unfortunately it doesn’t always work out as he plans. He has a good heart and tries to do what is best for mankind and his family. Harley has had a difficult life. Despite her father, she is a good person. I like that she is tough and has strong morals. Raul is an attention-grabbing bad guy. I enjoyed that he was a redcap. He kept you guessing about his actions.

I like that the plot was based off of mythology. The ending was fantastic and definitely left me wanting to continue reading the series. Nancy Corrigan’s Hunter Deceived is a strong foundation for the Wild Hunt Series.

This novel is intensely poetic and wildly imaginative. Corrigan draws you into this vivid world of humans and fae and takes you on a wild ride. Her eloquently crafted descriptions bring this story to life in a larger than life, yet easy to picture manner. The storyline is unforgettable and one of a kind. Darkness and light battle in this well-crafted novel. Love, sacrifice and redemption will tug at your heart, keeping you coming back for more. It is a must read for lovers of all things fae.

I loved the characters in this novel. The main characters were quite well developed and easy to get to know. The differing speech patterns really draws a focus to their difference in origins. Corrigan’s development of the wild hunt, both as a single entity and as individuals, provides a very unique secondary cast as well as substance and magic to the story itself.

This is one new series that I’ll most definitely be following closely.

Favorite Quotes:
He sagged in his bonds and dragged in a shuddering breath.
Why do you insist on sharing our suffering when you do not need to?
Rhys asked the same question every time they spoke. Calan gave his usual answer. Because it is my punishment, my hell and my sin for condemning you. I would bear it all if I could.
Rhys sighed. You did not know what would happen any more than I did. I would have done the same.
Calan’s next words would’ve been, No, brother, you would’ve saved us all. He couldn’t utter them today. The game they’d played for what might have been forever felt like a betrayal without Tegan’s sarcastic retorts.
“That’s it. Be calm. I won’t hurt you.”
“Wh-who are y-you? What…” She focused on where his chest should be. He glanced down and saw the ground, not his body or even a ghostly apparition. “What are you? A g-ghost?”
“Not a ghost. I’m alive. I’m just not here.”
He stretched an invisible hand out and touched her cheek. The surprise in connecting with her in a tangible manner nearly pulled him away from her. With mental fingers, he tugged her closer. He wouldn’t lose her.
Not now, not ever.
She slipped trembling balled fists into the pockets of her robe. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s time for me to go, Harley.”
She took a single step into the room. “Are you going to tell me the real reason I couldn’t voice my feelings last night.”
He stared at her and couldn’t bring himself to speak.
“Calan, please. You asked for my trust. I gave it to you. Now you must trust me.”
He ran a hand through his hair. “I made a mistake binding myself to you, Harley.”
Her brows pinched. “Excuse me?”
He motioned to her hand shoved into her robe. So many times last night, he’d been tempted to trace the design, imagine what it would look like completed. He’d resisted. He didn’t need the image of their incomplete bond to haunt him more than it did. “I shouldn’t have started the mate bond with you.”
Blinking rapidly, she stepped back. He saw the sheen of moisture in her eyes. The first tear slipped free. He clenched his jaw. The temptation to open his mind to hers and yank her anxiety away grew with each droplet that rolled down her cheek.
“You lied to me? You don’t love me?”
“No!” He was by her side before he thought better of it. He wiped the trail of tears away. “No, flower. I love you. I always will, but I acted rashly. I should’ve waited until the curse was transferred back to Dahm.”
“Why?”
He cupped her face between his hands and waited for her to reach for him. She didn’t. He couldn’t blame her. Still, the loss of her comforting touch hurt. “I must break our bond before my siblings succumb to madness. I’d thought only they bore the curse. I was wrong. I do too and because I bonded my body to yours, so do you. I must take back my half of our mate bond to spare you from suffering the curse meant for your father.”
“But you’ll mate me again after you defeat Dahm, right?”
He dropped his hands and turned away. He couldn’t look into her hopeful eyes any longer. “No, Harley, I can’t. I only have one circle to give. You were my one chance, my one mate, my one love. There will never be another.”
“So you can’t love me if we’re not mated?”
“I’ll always love you.” He glanced over his shoulder. “No matter what happens or who you end up with, I will be here. I just won’t be your mate.”
She narrowed her eye. “What do you mean, who I end up with?”
He forced his fingers to unclench. “I hope that once my brothers are free you’ll find one of them pleasing, maybe more so than me, and give him your love.”
“What if my love has already been given?” She stepped forward. “What if I said those three words you’ve stopped me from uttering and completed our bond right now.”
“Then you’ll have negated my sacrifice. I’m giving you up so you have a chance at life, maybe not the one you or I desire, but life all the same. You can fight the lure of the chaos as you’ve done without me or you can give one of my brothers a chance at earning your love and being the male I cannot be.” He made his way to the door, each step ripping his heart open. “We do not have predestined mates, Harley. We fall in love.”
“I don’t want another.”
He stepped into the hallway, gaze straight ahead. “Then that is your choice, but at least you have one.”
With that, he closed the door behind him and left his heaven behind.

This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
The story was not what I expected. I really liked it. Harley is a woman who could become evil but tries and does keep doing good things. She has been this way from birth. But she has some evil following her trying to turn her to the evil side. But then she meets Calan who is the leader of the Wild Hunt. His job is to protect mankind and his people. He can only be freed from the prison he is in by “the one”. The one is Harley, she first meets him when she was really young and now she finds the man she has dreamed and lusted after for years and she also thought he was just a dream lover.
Calan like I said is the leader of the Wild Hunt. As leader of the Wild Hunt he must eliminate the evil of the world which in this case was Harley. Once he set eyes on her he know she was his mate and thought she would save him from the hell he was living in. But he after starting the mating bond with her he finds out that not only could he not be saved but he also placed her in the same danger. Will he sacrifice his life and hers? Or will he give her up to save her from the suffering he would go through?

This is the first book in the series and it is a great start to the series. The story flows from the beginning and keeps going all the way through. Character development was really good. While reading the story you really want to cheer them on. Excellent story bring on the next in the series I am ready!!!

With this first book in her Wild Hunt series Ms. Corrigan has crafted a sensual and action-packed read with an intriguing mythos of good and evil. In this world it's the Huntsmen, the Devil's offspring, who protect humanity from bloodthirsty fairies. It's an exhilarating ride full of erotic encounters and unexpected heroes where all is not as it seems. When these two worlds collide in the name of love great sacrifices will have to be made before the Huntsmen are driven insane and the barrier falls destroying all humanity.

Long ago the Huntsmen shouldered the unrelenting pain of a curse created by Daum, a powerful fairy, in order to save humanity. Since then they're slowly going insane from the pain with their only hope of survival in the hands of a remaining fairy struggling against the darkness eating at her. Harley was a very sheltered child, kept hidden from the world by a mother who was cold to her. The only person to love and protect her is her human brother Ian who has tried to keep her safe since she went on the run the night the rest of their family was slaughtered. Other than Ian, Harley has been a loner since that night with her only comfort coming from the memory of a sensual man who came to her the night she ran begging for her help and telling her how to survive. It's been many years, with many people killed who she befriended, but she's finally back and in saving her mystery man her life will never be the same. Calan is his name and he gives his love and support to help her fight the evil coursing through her. She's immediately drawn to him and only in his presence does she feel safe and in control. Their relationship quickly evolves in numerous hot and heavy interludes and both ultimately make the most heartbreaking decisions to save humanity and those they love. Early on Harley appeared bratty but life on the run hardened her in some ways but she still refused to give in to her dark side. Being with Calan saw a weight lifted off her and though sharing her feelings wasn't easy for her, especially with a crazed and obsessed fairy constantly wanting to claim her and killing those close to her, she made the effort for the strong and sturdy Calan.

Calan is the leader of the Huntsmen and feels guilty for what befell his siblings. He's tried to carry most of their pain and the hope he placed in Harley is the only thing that's kept him going. When she finally comes to him he's immediately drawn to her. He's honest in what he wants from her but isn't shy in unleashing a sexual onslaught as he wants her for his mate not only to save her but because he's come to love her for her strength and caring nature. He's a bit Alpha in his dealings with her but explains the reasoning behind everything he does so she feels a part of the action. Calan is an honorable man who's also struggling to keep his darkness at bay, which is common for his kind, and needs Harley to keep him for giving into his rage too. There's a romantic and sensual give and take between them that makes for a powerful pairing. Seeing this made their sacrifices late in the story especially heartbreaking and showed the true power of love.

Along with these two larger than life main characters comes a slew of memorable secondary characters that helped propel the action and set up storylines for the future. Along with Calan we got a glimpse of his brother Rhys with his tell it like it is nature and his sister Tegan who's been unlucky in love in the past but who's new love is now closer than ever. Harley's devoted and noble brother Ian goes through big changes throughout this story in his battle against evil alongside Calan. Ian's been having dreams of a woman in unrelenting pain who he's inexplicably drawn to and whose identity is hinted at if you put the clues together. Ian's friend Trevor also has a part in this fight and though he seems a bit of a horndog he's good in a fight and seems willing to take the plunge fully into the dark and dangerous world of the Huntsmen. The action scenes and romance are nicely balanced in this story with each being vividly detailed. The story had a fast pace to it and had a good flow that kept me on the edge of my seat. The look we get of the Devil turns preconceived notions upside down as he's actually a kind-hearted father and makes this story even more original. Once the final page was turned this story was a delightful and exhilarating start to an exciting new paranormal series and I look forward to the next battle and the sacrifices yet to come!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Although I have read several series that are based on Fae legends, Corrigan managed to give Hunter Deceived some twists that I haven’t encountered before. Because of this, I found myself further engrossed in the book because while there are certain Fae rules that are a constant from author to author – they are based on legends, after all – it was the differences between the Seelie and Unseelie that the author made her own that kept me glued to my Kindle as I raced to the end in a desperate need to find out what fate would befall Harley and whether or not she and Calan would find their way to one another. A word of warning – tissues were needed.

The book begins by giving the reader a look into Harley and Calan’s first meeting – the night that Harley’s family is murdered, the night she learns of her true heritage, and the night her struggle to resist the taint of her Unseelie blood intensified. We then jump ahead nine years to learn that while Harley has resisted the lure of the Unseelie, her journey to do so has been hard fought as she has spent the intervening years being stalked by Raul, a redcap, who has murdered several of those people she had gotten close to during her frequent moves. But the wedding of Harley’s only surviving brother brings her back to the family home and, in doing so, gives her the unexpected opportunity to reunite with her “ghost man” – Calan – who she had convinced herself was a figment of her imagination. The chemistry between Calan and Harley was immediately palpable. Their passion was so intense that my Kindle wasn’t the only thing that nearly overheated. Despite their long overdue reunion, Harley and Calan are thrust into the battle of their lives for their souls, the other Huntsmen, and the mortal realm and soon learn that the deck has been stacked against them. Will their love save them or will it condemn them forever?

Corrigan strikes a nice balance between the steamy eroticism that Harley and Calan fall into when the need to connect overwhelms them with the intense action in the battle between the Huntsmen and the Unseelie. I liked how Harley and Calan served as one another’s anchor in the storm. Harley’s touch could calm Calan when the fury of the Hunt took hold, while he could imbue her with his essence (for want of a better word on my part) and give her the strength to resist the pull of the Unseelie chaos. The constant action as Calan sought to free his brethren and save Harley propelled the story forward at a constant rate due to time not being on his side, yet the author avoided making the story seemed rushed. My heart broke once Calan’s father revealed that he had been tricked and the rules of the game had been changed on them, forcing Calan to make a choice he didn’t want to make. But even that didn’t compare when Harley was faced with the knowledge of how she could save them all. While Hunter Deceived doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per se, we still don’t know the full consequences of Harley’s actions. Corrigan has hooked me on the Wild Hunt series and I hope to bump Hunter Forsaken up on my reading schedule as I’m fortunate enough to have a review copy already loaded on my Kindle.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Hunter Betrayed was an amazing read. I was really surprised by this book. From the very beginning it captured my attention and I was completely swept up in this story. There is one thing about this story that I overlooked for a while because of how good it was. This is a major detail of a book, and this book was written so well with such wonderful detail that I never even noticed...it's written in third person! I can honestly say that I don't really do third person pov because of the lack of character and detail depth. But this book was written so superbly that I didn't even realize it was third person. You slid this right past my sensors and I didn't even notice! Seriously though, wonderful detail, amazing character depth, and the plot was awesome.

You have Harley Callahan, who is just your normal teenage girl, who is sneaking out of her house because her mother is extremely overprotective, and with great reason. She gets busted coming in the house after sneaking out and her mother reveals some vital info that Harley never knew about herself, right before their home is attacked by men that aren't quite normal. She runs for her life as her family is murdered. While running she meets Calan, a set of floating eyeballs. Ya, ya I know how that sounds, but really he is invisible so-to-speak except for his eyes. He can touch her, she can touch him, but you can't see him.
He is a Huntsman who is imprisoned in a tomb of sorts along with all of the other Huntsman and needs her to release him so that he can complete his mission and save all of them. He knows that she will be his mate, but doesn't want to scare her away because she doesn't know what she is. He gives her part of himself to help her survive these 'monsters' with the agreement that she returns to him and frees him. She agrees, and he infuses part of himself in her and it opens her eyes to all of the nonhuman creatures of the fae sorts. Boy is she in for a rude awakening.
Break to nine years later when she finally returns home for her brother's wedding, who is her only surviving relative and knows her secret. She is the half breed child of a powerful fae being, and she is being hunted for her pure blood because she is not evil like the others. She thinks of Calan, knowing that she has held a yearning for him that she can't explain for the past 9 yrs.
Calan, who is still in his prison, feels her when she returns. He appears to her and convinces her to come to him. She does and is taken aback by what she sees. A huge manly man who completely melts her panties off. Talk about hot. And not just hot, but soul deep hotness. There is a connection between them that just puts everything at a level we all have wanted.
Enemies start to threaten Ian, Harley's brother, and Calan is struggling to find a way to keep it all together and come out victorious in the end.

If you love a deep paranormal romance read, pick up this book. It has the perfect blend of detail, story, and sex. An amazing story that will keep you flipping the pages until you reach the end and wanting to ask Nancy, hey when the hell is book 2 coming?! Seriously, when is it coming?!

Nancy has brought us yet another swoon worthy hero to lust after and dream about, and I think he is my favourite. Calan.....a heroic fighter who has saved the human race for centuries...um yummy!!!!!!

Harley knew she was different from the beginning, her mother locks her away from the world trying to keep her safe, she does not know what her mother is keeping her safe from until one night in her teens and she witnesses something evil enter her house and kill her parents and her siblings. While running for her life she comes across a being, an apparition who empresses onto her the truth about who she is and how to stay safe, with only one promise in return...."Return and set me free." Harley spends the next few years surviving, but always on the run from her dark side, and well as the evil who has encompassed her life. Her surviving brother has spent his whole life keeping Harley safe and researching the Unseelie and attempting to understand why they want Harley so much.

Harley knows things are intensifying, so returning to her childhood home for her brother wedding is a trip she does not want to take, she attempts to keep isolated from most people because her stalker has a uncanny skill in knowing who Harley has feeling for and he takes their life. When Harley turns up at the house she is drawn to an area of her backyard and discovers the apparition that has been haunting her for years. Except he is not an apperation, he is very real, he is a living breathing alpha leader of the Wild Hunt, who as well as his siblings, has been trapped by a curse for a melinium. He needs Harley to set him free so he can continue his life purpose and keep the human race safe from the Unseelie.

The connection between Harley and Calan is instant, and they have both stayed in each other's minds for years, so when they meet again there is a tension and attraction that can not be denied. Calan linked himself to Harley years ago to keep her safe and over the years this connection has intensified. Harley having had to fight and protect her self for years, feels some relief with Calan, as he wants to protect her and make her his for eternity. She has not been able to let herself go ever, so she feels freedom with Calan, she feels like she can finally be herself, who she was born to be. So when Harley releases Calan they succumb to their passion and connection and Calan begins the process of making her his, however their love bubble does not last long when the Unseelie makes a play to take over the world.

This is a great great great start to a new series. If you love paranormal romance, then this woman knows her stuff! It is intense, sexy, nail biting and I want more of hot alpha men/hunters who love strong passionate women.

I really enjoyed this fun start to a new supernatural erotic series. I love Nancy's imagination and her writing! She makes me blush, she makes me cry, she makes my heart beat fast, she makes my laugh, and she makes me want more!!!!!

This is another retelling of the classic battle between good and evil. With the really good stories, it is sometimes hard to tell which is which. Are the pretty elves with their glamour here to help or hurt? And the huntsmen riding their spectral horses straight from hell, they must be evil? Right? Not so much.

I liked how the author played on the “don’t judge a book by its cover” theme. The huntsmen, though they come from hell, are on earth to protect human kind and the pretty elves are actually from the unseelie court and want only chaos so they can feed on the fear and anger.
This story begins 1000 years ago when it looks like maybe evil will win. But, the huntsmen sacrifice themselves to keep the breach between earth and hell closed. For 1000 years our hero, Calan, leader of the Wild Hunt, has been held prisoner while his fellow huntsmen, also prisoners, have been slowly going mad with the curse that was meant for the evil known as Dahm.

Fast forward to the present and meet Harley. Calan has seen her as a child, and again as a teenager and believes her to be his salvation. But there are secrets, and rules that must be followed, and oaths that cannot be broken.

It was a bit difficult for me to get into this book. The beginning was confusing to me with the various characters being introduced and who was fighting whom and why. There was some flashbacks going on at the same time in the attempt to fill in back-story. It took a while, with some concentrated reading, for me to figure everything out. Once I did, the story wasn’t too bad.

I did a little eye rolling at how necessary sex seemed to be at keeping entities calm and centered, but I guess that is as good a way as any to get the sex in the story at random places.

I got really frustrated about what appeared to be a total lack of communication. I could not figure out if it was because Calan could not share the information, or he just chose not to. It definitely lead to conflict. Continually. Throughout the book. Of course Harley wasn’t any more forth coming with key bits of information either. I kept thinking, “If only these two would just sit down and talk to each other!”

The story ended with a decent hfn and no cliffhanger but, there is no doubt there will be more. Will I read another? I don’t know. This one didn’t exactly blow my skirt up, but it didn’t turn me off either. Time will tell.

I received a complimentary copy free of charge with the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments and ratings are my own.

Stars: 2.5 / 5
Recommendation: Another interesting series on immortal hunters, walking deads, fairies, angels and humans; with a connection to Hell this time around - giving a different perspective to that world.

Hunter Deceived in the first book in the Wild Hunt series by Nancy Corrigan and published in September of 2014. The plot is set in a world where humans, immortal hunters, fairies and the walking dead co-exist. This book revolved around Calan – the leader of the Wild Hunt – and Harley Callahan – human with a dark heritage.

Having read the second and third book in the series, I had been waiting for the first book to be available for print again. Finally when it came on amazon, quickly I ordered it before they become out of print again. And so here’s the review.

Background: After being for a millennium in Hell suffering as a result of deadly curse that was meant for Unseelie Court, the children of Arawn are released to be free. They serve as The Huntsmen going on the Wild Hunt in the night saving the world from the evils that humans cannot even fathom and also to keep their sanity intact. However they have to still pass one final test by The Triad – triple-faceted God who rules all of the humans, immortals, fairies, and walking dead alike - before they are completely freed.

Harley Callahan was born with the dark heritage as a half breed fairy. Fighting to keep her darkness under control and on the run from the evil Raul – one of the Redcap – the only solace and strength she draws are from the visions of her ghostly man, his voice and her promise to him. Now after nine years of running she finally comes home to her brother Ian’s wedding. And she faces her ghost man. Calan – leader of the Wild Hunt – trapped in a torture in the Underworld for a mistake made a millennia ago along with his brothers and sisters, need Harley not only for his salvation but also to free his brothers and sisters. How does Harley and Calan help each other, how they will fight the Redcap Raul and also how they free the Huntsmen is the rest of the plot.

There are so many moving pieces in this first book and lots of segues into future books. Having read the remaining two following this already, a few of the pieces made a lot of sense. Remaining I have to wait patiently for Nancy to write about before they can be answered or filled. The basic plot is also very interesting – Huntsmen from Underworld, aiding the humans against the Unseelie Court Fairies, in the only way they know, to fight and kill. The touches around the fringes in this book focuses on Calan and Harley bringing in the Underworld and Unseelie Court as close as possible they can.

Although the plot is strong, the erotic part takes up a lot of it. I wish either Nancy could have increased the actual story around the erotic portion, or balanced it a bit well. Otherwise a very strong book from Nancy.

Note: The book I have also comes with the mini-novel Hunter Sacrificed (Wild hunt #0.5), the prequel to the entire series, explaining how the Huntsmen have been formed, for what reason and what would their potential fate would be. It is merely 50 pages and don’t want to write a separate review on it. However, a very good segue for readers to understand many missing pieces that we see in the rest of the three books so far printed in this Wild Hunt series.

Another erotic fantasy novel created in a world filled with humans, fairies, hunters, angels and all the immortals under the sun. Although I like the plot-line and story setup along with the characters, the eroticism is more than I would normally like. A bit toned down on it and balance it a bit more with the actual plot, then this would be a winning series for this author

Another easy read for those lazy days and hot nights.

Spoiler Alerts:
1) Plot Reveals:
a. Dar – leader of Unseelie Fairy Court is the Harley’s actual father.
b. There is still a mystery to solve as to who had betrayed the Huntsmen a millennia ago and had given it away to Dar so he could wreak havoc on them. My gut says it is Lucan aka Lucifer, but it cannot be that obvious. We have to just wait for Nancy to unravel it in her plots.
2) Sub – Plots from already read second and third books:
a. Ian Callahan, whom we meet for the first time in this book, is revealed to be the son of Lucas aka Lucifer - the Demon King and Fallen Angel - and Minerva - Goddess of Love and mate of Arawn – in the second book Hunter Forsaken (My review of the book here: https://inspirethoughts.livejournal.c...). Minerva hides Ian among humans so Arawn doesn’t know about it even though her infidelity was already know to him.
b. Allie, Cynthia’s sister – Cynthia being ex-fiancée of Ian – is rescued from the Unseelie world by the Huntsmen. The HandMaiden Alana is the birth mother of Allie.
c. Just like Arawn had Huntsmen, Minerva had HandMaidens - seventeen sisters who live and die as humans again and again until the goals given by Minerva are completed - tasks that came down from Triad as he plays the chess with the maidens too. Harley’s mom is another of Minerva’s HandMaiden.
d. The angel Michael saves Trevor by using his once-only used power to give him a human body. However, what price will he pay for that is something I am curious to see in future plots. Trevor and Rowan’s (Rowan is one of the huntsman) plot can be read in the third book Hunter Mourned and my review can be seen here: https://inspirethoughts.livejournal.c....
e. Alana gives a gift to Craig to save him from Hell and get redemption, as he was her once former soulmate. What was the gift she has given? How will that impact the balance? Perhaps another book will explore on this.

3) The Huntsmen (men and women both alike are called so), have alternate form that resembles a cross between a demon dog and a human - a beast from Hell. They also have powers that surpassed even what the highest level gods hold including the ability to walk in the world of humans - only ones from the Underworld - and also their mates. The Huntsmen are immortal - cannot be killed at all permanently - due to their ties to Arawn - the Lord of the Underworld.
4) More about Huntsmen from already read second and third books:
a. The Huntsmen also have other siblings who are still in Hell but quarantined as they couldn’t survive the tortures.
b. Calan, Rhys, Rowan, Teagan, Cain and Zeph are the only siblings so far who have survived the millennia of torture.
c. Calan is the oldest and their leader, has ability to connect all their minds linking them together.
d. Rhys acts as their strategist in the battle as well as their counsellor in life. Will he and Allie be mates? All the signs point towards it from reading the remaining two books.
e. Tegan is the third in command in Arawn's army. She is mated with Ian and we read their story in the second book Hunter Forsaken
f. Cain - survived but in a very fragile situation. Perhaps a future book on him will explain more about him.
5) Grammatical / Geographical / Location / Character / Historic Errors:
a. On pg. 61, it should read “You need to be a good girl.” Missing “girl” at the end.
b. On pg. 172, line starting with “keep his horse..”, it should read “enough to get the woman away…” instead there is an unnecessary “the” between “enough” and “get”.

I should have known with the fantastic prequel for this series that there was more amazing writing and story to come. Building on the excellent backstory presented in Hunter Sacrificed, Hunter Deceived tells us the story of Calan, leader of the Wild Hunt and son to Arawn, the Lord of the Underworld (and main character from Hunter Sacrificed), and Harley-a woman with a complicated lineage that includes a direct tie to the Unseelie court.

I had hoped the fantastic writing from the prequel would continue on here in Hunter Deceived, and I was not disappointed at all. Descriptive writing that pulls you deep into the story and makes you feel like you're surrounded by this amazing world, coupled with characters who you can't help but feel tied to and truly care about, combined with a storyline that contains plenty of twists and turns makes for a highly engaging read that I did NOT want to put down for even a moment.

Calan is written so you feel his pain, along with his love and euphoria with Harley. In fact, I was pulled into the emotions of all the characters in the story-even those who were merely supporting the main cast. They are all expressive and command your attention, and you'll finish this book wanting to know all of their stories (boy, I sure hope the author is planning a LOT of books in this series!).

Just when you think things will go one way, a bit of a twist will happen to add suspense and depth to the story, pulling you further and further in. Things will get crazy, the emotional highs and lows will drive you nuts, but in the end you get satisfaction--and the result opens up a whole lot of stories for the future.

If you are a paranormal romance fan, mythology-based story fan, fan of oh-my-goodness-hot-and-steamy stories bordering on the erotic...and especially all of these things wrapped up in one thrilling package, you will not want to pass this story-or series-up. Hunter Deceived was a 5-star read for me, and as of now this series has found a home on my Top Recommendations list. Strictly for those 18+ readers due to adult language and sexual content.

I need more of this series, ASAP!

4.5 Loved this first book in the new series- oh man, Calan is so alpha and bossy. Calan, is the son of the Lord of the Underworld and the leader of a group of hunters who are out to rid the world of the evil fairies from the Unseelie Court. Having the only weapon that can stop Dahm, the ultimate tainted dark fairy, Calan and his hunters try to get to him before he can kill his own child that will open the layers between our world and Hell. Things go horribly wrong for Calan during the fight and he, plus his fellow Hunters are taken prisoner. For years they are chained up and tortured to die over and over gruesome deaths. Their only chance of freedom is being released by one of Dahm's many children he fathered through raping human women.
Harley is a young, sheltered 18 year old girl when we first met her. Sneaking out of her home to get away from her overprotected mother, Harley unknowingly lands directly on the Unseelie's radar. With her family murdered she takes off only to come face to ghostly eyes with Calan, who has projected his image to her. Begging her to help free him so he can protect her Harley doesn't know what to do. Calan mentally pushes his thoughts into her so she can trust what he is asking is true. Promising to help him and save herself she never knew it would take her years to come back to him. Years of dreaming about the sexy ghostly image and the love for her brother brings Harley back home where her family were killed. Finding and then freeing Calan her whole world is turned upside again but she is now in more danger than before. Will their love be enough to save them or will they have to sacrifice everything to save each other?

Great start to this series!

UPDATE:

Firstly I would wish to thank Nancy and Ellora's Cave for kindly providing me with a copy of Hunter Betrayed to read and review..

I love it when I stumble across a good paranormal book that keeps me begging for more....recently I've found myself reading romance and I couldn't wait for a change, this....this story was my change and it was soooooooo good!

Born from evil Harley knows no different, being brought up in the surrounds of her home and sworn to never leave her home she begins to rebel, which in turn creates an opportunity for a series of events to change her life forever.

Despite revealing the knowledge of her father, she is a good person at heart...

Calan; a Huntsman by blood and the sworn enemy of the fay, it's Calan's mission to rid earth of this deathly evil, what he wasn't counting on is meeting the blonde curly haired beauty....a half breed........Harley

"Next to the animals bred to rip the fairies and their creatures apart, she appears tiny. Delicate. Beautiful. A flower in the midst of death."

Meeting Calan has changed Harley's life, for better or for worse, that is the ultimate question?

Hunter Betrayed is a fast-paced interesting story. The ending was fantastic and definitely left me reeling for more

3 Hunter Deceived Stars.

The Wild Hunt has begun but due to a trap, the Huntmen/Huntswomen have been suffering for a thousand years. Amongst those are Calen, the leader of the Hunt, his twin Rhys and their sister Teagan.

Calen has been inprisoned and has been waiting for his mate, Harley to return after he helped her escape. He must be set free so that the curse can be reversed and that the Fae, King Dar who has turned Unseelie can be killed by his hand.

Harley born of human and of Dar is so far Seelie but is always on the brink of becoming Unseelie. Her salvation? Her blue eyed ghost that saved her so long ago.

Ms. Corrigan is very talented. She builds a beautiful world with myths and legends that blends into our modern day. The story is well written. At times though the world building was too good and too extensive. There was great character development between the main MCs it was intense and although they had chemistry I felt the focus was solely on them and it took away from the overall plot.

They are all pawns in a game and in the end there can only be one winner.

I loved Ian and can't wait to get me hands on his book.

Book received in exchange for an honest review.

When Calan, immortal leader of the Wild Hunt, first laid eyes on Harley, he was overwhelmed by her aura of innocence. Nine years later, he hasn't been able to forget the beautiful woman who walked away. Time has changed Harley and the taint of her dark heritage has begun to stain her soul.

Powerfully drawn to the strong and honorable woman she has become, Calan is determined to protect her, even if it costs him part of his own soul. The deep desire he harbors to win her love in return is pitted against the evil that plots against her and his fellow hunters.

HUNTER BETRAYED is the gripping and powerfully written introduction to the Wild Hunt series by Nancy Corrigan. Based on obscure mythology, Hunter Betrayed breathes vivid life into the Hunter's legend. A fast paced and intriguing tale of bloodlust, seduction and sacrifice. The complex cast of characters, passionate emotionalism, and pure sensuality kept me turning pages late into the night! Lovers of paranormal erotic romance won't want to miss the exciting beginning of what is sure to be Corrigan's most popular series to date.

Hunter Betrayed (Wild Hunt, #1) by Nancy Corrigan Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, goal is to protect the world from the Unseelie Court. He falls in love with Harley, the daughter of, Dahm, the Unseelie Prince. Both will need to make sacrifices to save themselves and the world.

Hunter Betrayed is a fast-paced interesting story. The ending was fantastic and definitely left me wanting to continue reading the series. Nancy Corrigan created a strong foundation for the Wild Hunt Series. This is a great novel for people whom enjoy contemporary Fae novels.

4 out of 5 Stars

What did I like?
The heroine was a strong, courageous badass. Her background was heartbreaking and she stayed strong. I don't think she could have been the salvation of the Huntsmen without the heartbreak strengthening her first.

What did I not like?
I love the hero but he is too willing to sacrifice his love for the world. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" seems to be the catchphrase of this book. The heroine is unable to see one life cut short in return for saving others, but she is all ready to try and shoulder a curse meant for many others on her own. The naivete there just astounds me. Especially once she figures out (after the fact) that she is not strong enough to bear it, when it is too late to stop.

Recommendation: This book was a rollercoaster of intrigue and romance, the blending was perfect. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next one (I'm hoping it is Tegan and Ian's...hint, hint).

My lunch at work went unfinished and I sat in my car when I got home just so I could finish Hunter Betrayed. Nancy has done it again.

To live with a taint so evil even immortals have a hard time not going crazy and staying pure is a miracle. Knowing that Harley not only did this but she also found time and room in her heart for love, wow. From the moment the rebellious teenager burst onto the page I couldn’t get enough. She was tough.

Calan was a man who wanted what most immortals want, a mate and to do his duty protecting the world from evil. For a millennium he has hung in a prison sacrificing just to ensure that the world stays safe but he is not alone, his brother and sisters suffer with him.

These two came with so much baggage I was surprised they could function. Oh and if you think you have a stalker wait until you read about Harleys. If I was her I would trade him for Ted Bundy.

This book releases September 3, 2014 and I would have to encourage everyone to get out and buy it, worth every moment

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. Nancy has struck again. She delved into a new arena in the paranorm and it is flawless. We deal with the underworld, fairies, and slaughs. Throw in some romance, condemned love, and death! The characters are well developed, the sex scenes I would give a 7/10 because there just were not enough of them. The links between characters can be felt through the written word. If I had to complain about something (which I really don't), it would be that I love a lot of heat in my books and this one had a little less than her shifter novels. That being said, I am not docking any points because this is a great story that holds its own without all the sex. 5 Fangs.

This story starts off somewhat confusing, with all the different characters to keep track of and the time-jumps and flashbacks going on. It seemed a little disorganized, but I stuck with it. I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the book.

I did think all the half-finished sentences were a bit much (I'm perfectly capable of speech in the throes of passion lol) and the way they both needed each other to calm themselves down -- it made it seem as though if there were any other choice, maybe they wouldn't be together. But, I did like the chemistry between these two, and there was a really good, meaty story at the heart of it all, which I look for in any romance.

I will read book two, simply to find out if Ian's dream lover is who I think it is.

What a amazing start to a new series! I want a huntsman, oh my gosh so freaking sexy. I loved a strong female lead, I love she took control of her life. She stayed good even if the dark side is calling her name, well screaming it is more like it. But before all that we met Calan and he is just everything you would think a Huntsman would be! Strong, fierce, loyal , brave and will do anything to save the human world. But when that isn't enough and you have rely on the very person who can destroy you and everything you work for. Superior first book , can't wait to read about the other brother/sister's of the huntsman! Reviewed by DK for Confessions of a Booklovinjunkie
