The story was entertaining and I loved Misty. She is tough, sassy, but has heart. I didn't enjoy the errors in editing that made some of the reading experience a bit tedious. All in all I liked the story.
I loved this book. It was fabulous. When I first started it was slow and felt a little bit dragged but then it became quite hilarious.
Misty, a sassy, funny and fluent in sarcasm was a waitress in a diner. Her shift mostly consists of serving truckers and listening to their nonstop chatter about strange happenings. And when a vampire needs her help to protect a mysterious box all she wants to do is douse herself in garlic and run as far as possible from the dark and alluring Roland who happens to be the most charming and polite vampire. That box was an object of treasure for all vampires but it contained something that solely belonged to Roland.
Midnight Customer is the first book in the series. I really liked Misty, her thoughts and the way she evaluate her emotions verbally made me laugh like mad. I love when the character have a sarcastic look/approach towards every situation no matter how serious or dangerous it appears. It was definitely one of the good humorous read and I'll pick it up for a reread soon.😀
I really like reading short Paranormal Mysteries but I have to say this series has me intrigued in the way Mac Flynn pulls you into the story. I was chilled by the first couple of pages as the mystery slowly starts to unfold and as all the characters you feel like you are really there in that trucker dive of a restaurant and at the apartment and at the old house were the vampire sleeps. What got me is how the Vampire pleas for help from a frightened truck driver that wants no part in it at all to a gutsy waitress that will help said Vampire to protect the one thing that means so much to the Vampire and that other bad Night Creatures want it just as badly. Question: How Will They Both Keep this BOX THING PROTECTED and stay safe them selves.
Misty works nights as a waitress at a restaurant. While working her shift she sees one of her regular customers, sitting quieter than usually and naturally she asks him, why he is so quiet. He explains a story about a man that visited his semi truck while he was sleeping and how the man kept knocking asking to come in. After hearing other customers telling stories about a mysterious man, who at night was visiting houses, scratching and knocking on windows, she becomes suspicious after Charlie's story. The one thing Charlie did not do was lie. Who was this man?
I really like Misty. She was very funny and the way she talked and acted made her real to life.
Good vampire story without a bite. This was my first story by this author and I admit, I want more. Misty is the overnight waitress at the local truck stop. One night, she notices that one of the regulars just isn’t acting like himself. After hearing his tale, she invites him back to her place so that he can get some sleep. It seems that he’d been visited one night while he was sleeping in his semi and hasn’t been able to sleep since. In her second story apartment that night, Misty and Charlie are visited by a vampire looking in her window. Being the smart woman she is, she did not invite him in. The story only gets more interesting from that point. The characters are all personable, even the curmudgeon of a boss, Ralph. You’ve got both good and bad characters and they are play their part well. I can’t wait to read the next book!!
It deserves 2.5 stars out of the 5. The word "quipped" is used too many times in the book, that made it a really annoying reading experience. It contains some very good humor in it. The premise of the series seems good but the female protagonist (waitress) sometimes went too overboard in supplying of her witty remarks to the text.
A different take on the classic vampire books. In this one a vampire seems to be trying to rescue his soul from the devil and is in need of a human to help him protect it until he figures out how. Not what I was expecting when I downloaded this book but I'm definitely interested. Will be buying the rest of the series.
The book was interesting but was way too short for my liking. It was just the first part consisting of only eight chapters. Though it was short but was fun to read nonetheless. For me, it was a good book to read.
Cute beginning of a series. Did not end on a cliffhanger but wasn't really a complete story either. Still the main character is fun and at times funny and the set up was good.
I picked up this book because it came through my twitter feed and it was free. Also, the cover art is adorable. I really liked the plot line but it moved so fast that I didn't have enough time to develop any attachment to the characters. It was, however, cute and kinda fun. Worth a look.
I actually enjoy Mac Flynn's work but I disappointed that the book series he is introducing has o my approximately 50 pages for $2.99 each. I may not be rocket scientist but this ends up adding up to quite a bit more than many of the top sellers.
I did enjoy this book, it was short and quick. The story was just a teaser, because you have to read the next book in order to find out what happens. This was just an introduction. I did enjoy what I read, just expecting more.
Meh, decent read. Not altogether impressed. However, the short ended just as it was getting interesting so if the second segment is free somewhere, I might take the time to read it.
Short read that leaves you hanging. It was just starting to get interesting when it ended. I thought it was a stand alone, but just can't see reading 7 more of the short story to finish the series.
Not what I typically read but entertaining. Way too short though I can't complain much as I got it for free. I probably won't be reading any more of the books in the series. Just not that interested.
