Amazingly silly instruction book for, you guessed it, knitting or crocheting a mini-hat for your kitty. I'd read this before, but forgot to review it.

OK, here's an even sillier idea: Cats In Hats Made From Their Own Hair!

At last! A use for that annoying byproduct of cat "ownership"!

And here's a video that includes some Christmas cat-hats: "Cute and Funny Cats in Hats"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wiw9b...

And plenty more! -- if you plug "cats in hats" into Google Images. But do see if your library has this book. Or if you need a truly last-minute gift....

at first I thought this whole idea of hats for cats to be cruel and disturbing. Then I saw a kitty in a homemade triceratops hat and I realized that this is the greatest craft idea EVER! sadly, I don't knit, but I'm considering commissioning some toppers for my boys.

Who would have thunk? Cats heads are almost too small for hats, but it is possible! Very cute patterns.

Cute. I don't think any of my cats would tolerate a hat. About 20 knit and 10 crochet patterns.

Clever patterns and ideas. However, while I love books, while I love cats, while I love knitting, and while I love bananas too; this seem so very, very wrong.

This is an adorable crochet and knit book. I am only a crocheter but I own this book because there are plenty of crochet patterns in it. The patterns are well-written and I love the photos so you can see how they will look if your cat will even wear a hat. A must have for cat lovers and knitters and crocheters alike.

Absolutely ADORABLE! I think the knit designs looked better than the crochet ones and I WILL be making a couple for my daughter's kitty as the investment of time and materials is minimal. Great inspiration! Sweet, sweet photos of capped kitties!

Wonderful beginners guide to making kitty hats for the bistitchual. If only my cats would be still enough for the hats.

I am greatly amused. They all look like they'd fit and they are funny. However, I'm not interested in tormenting my cat with any of these :D

yep, cars beware

I have friends who frequently post cats in hats pictures to my timeline, this would be funny. Marked many that I want to make.

Lots of fun. I wish there were more crochet designs, but I was able to torture my kitty with a couple hats. She especially hated the fox hat. (I don't leave them on her for long, I just put the hat on, take a photo, and remove the hat before my cat kills me. She tolerates this routine in exchange for large quantities of treats.)
Bottom line - good way to use up scraps of yarn on small projects. Also, if your cat doesn't want to wear a hat, don't force it. First give your cat lots of catnip, then try again, followed by treats. (This may or may not work. Results were inconclusive when I tested this on my cats.)

This is a book full of gorgeous photography, adorable models, and terrible ideas. It's awesome. Perfect for the crazy crafters -- both stickpeople (knitters) and hookers (crocheters) -- and crazy catpeople in your life!

Full disclosure: I haven't tried making anything yet, but, once Z and Min achieve their full adult sizes, I am going to crochet them unicorn hats so I can finally have my herd of unicorns.

Cats in Hats made me smile and laugh. Adorable kittens are photographed in cute, theme, ridiculous looking knitted or crocheted hats. The patterns have openings for the kitten ears to pass through and a tie under the chin. (warning, only use on sitting still and cooperative cats) I made a pink bunny hat and a green alien eye hat. Looking at the pictures is the perfect antidote to anything less that sunshine.

Would have gotten 4 stars if the Unicorn hat was knit and not crochet.
