*second reading* 2018 - i made the snap pea and sesame noodle bowl again, and also the polenta with tomatoes, chard, chickpeas and a creamy basil sauce. very tasty, but the book is in need of another edit - the index of ingredients in the back do not reflect the correct recipes/page numbers! this isn't a huge deal but as I am trying to cook with CSA ingredients in mind, it got frustrating!

2017 - hands down, this is one to buy and keep. the brown rice taco bowl and the green curry and snap pea seasame noodle bowl were fantastic. even though it shouldn't be too hard to throw a bunch of stuff in a bowl, the suggestions and recipes here were all great! I put one star because I did not find this cookbook useful. That said, the pictures are lovely, and the instructions are straight forward. Just not for me.

Some trendy person who doesn't really have time to cook will love this new trending food. Basically, it's any food eaten out of a bowl. Pile it in, eat it- with a spoon, I'm thinking, as it seems a bowl is rather toddler-ish....besides in the "brave" new world, one can get poked and hurt by a fork!
For all others- interesting recipes that can be eaten just as well from a plate with a fork!
The concept and title 3 star. The recipe themselves- 4.5 stars!

Wanted to love it. Way too many obscure ingredients. I was hoping more for a "transform boring staples into something new and exciting by adding a few new ingredients and a sauce" kind of book.

I honestly don't even know where to buy some of the things listed. Whole Foods?

I found this book pretentious.

I'll try some of the broth bowls, but a lot of recipes looked tedious as opposed to easy to improvise.

Lots of good-looking recipes, many saved to try, and fun enough that I bought some bowls specifically for them.

Not impressed and really don't understand why any of this food has to be eaten in a bowl. I guess its a "thing."

So many ideas, so much use of delicious ingredients. I will definitely be trying some of these recipes and I'll be sharing info about the book with some friends who, I'm sure, will love the offerings.
