Idiosyncratic
"Humans are just a legend - a lie..."
Astronaut attacks. Child kingpins. Demeaning auctions. Les’ette has battled it all for years during her time on the Orphan Train. Aging out of this nightmare is the only goal that hasn’t fallen apart. That is, until she is sold to a mad scientist.
If her new owner isn’t pleased with her work, thinks she is using her defect to con him, or finally loses his mind, Les’ette just might become his next lab rat.
With Dr. Upton employed by the global government, Les’ette is pulled even further into the clutches of the Federation.

I loved this so so much! I adored the world and the characters. One of my favorite things about this story is how Britt Nunes just tosses her reader into the action and the world. There is no hand holding in this story and those are my favorite kinds of Sci fi reads. I love learning as I go instead of being greeted with a giant info dump that makes me not care about the plot from page one.
As I said the plot was fantastic and the characters were all so lovable. This was exactly what I wanted from a sci fi novella. Concise, action packed, with an ambiguous ending. I cannot recommend this enough!

***I was sent this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***
Video review:
I enjoyed Idiosyncratic but I had some problems with it. My biggest problem was the lack of world building and descriptions. Knowing this was a sic-fi novella that followed people with green scales, I just kinda assumed it would take place on a different planet. It wasn't until a few chapter in that I realized it was set on Earth. I wish that had been clear earlier on or even in the synopsis. I'll go more into this in my video review.
The characters were good. I didn't love them but I didn't hate them either. Unfortunately all three of my favorite characters were hardly in the book. In fact, one of them also died. :(
But I think the best thing about this book was the plot. I thought it was clever but I also felt like I was missing half the book. I can only imagine that it would be incredibly difficult to write a good sci-fi/dystopian story when you're trying to squish it into a novella. The ending also felt very rushed.
Personally, I just think the story would have been better if it had more world building/descriptions, better character development, and was just overall a longer book.

This book is written in sci-fi distoptian fashion.... before reading what I thought of the book you should know that I am not an avid reader... like at all... I read this book in 2 days I could not put it down!!! I was so drawn into the amazing world with these strange creatures and could really imagine myself there with the diesel punk type world of the future still with relics of the past. Britt really has the true talent to paint word pictures... I felt like I was right there with Lis'ette and could feel her pain and see her struggles. It has intrigue and keeps you guessing right to the end. I absolutely LOVED this book! I believe anyone who obtains this book will love it as much as I do!!!

It was AMAZING!!!! Absolutely incredible! I am a very fast reader so I finished it in one day. It was a very interesting and heart pounding book. It is sprinkled with a little romance. ❤️ Which I like. I love the charters and everything. Even how you explain the world around you. I also love the cover it really grabs you. 🤓🙂

I liked the cast of characters in this book and the description of the world they lived in. The surprise ending was the best part. Spoilers? We find out that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Sorry, that’s a different story. You guys aren’t ready for spoilers. Just go buy the book.

It took a while for this book to get good, but when the conflict started, it really started.
This is a book in which nothing is as it seems, and everything you think you know about the world it takes place in gets turned on its head.

A rich, fantastic world with in-depth and unique characters. Idiosyncratic is filled with mystery and excitement around every corner. You aren't info-dumped, but slowly given information as you read, which I absolutely love. You will laugh, you will shed tears, you will feel every emotion as you are taken into this world of astronauts, orphans and green scales. A wonderful book that I highly recommend.
Britt Nunes has easily become one of my favorite authors, this book just solidifies that.
