Little Bo Peep's sheep have gas in their tummies and they've been in a car accident with a farmer's stolen tractor. The doctor explains the reasons for the gas, gives them some medicine that doesn't taste too bad, and everything gets resolved. Fun twist on characters from a classic nursery rhyme for children.

Um. Will kids really think drinking soda pop and driving around on a tractor will make so much gas they'll be in danger of exploding? This entry in the series is sillier than the others that I've read. But, yes, you do have to tell the doctor everything you know about what's wrong so they know how to help you. And, yes, *Pepto Bismol* works great for lots of kinds of tummy troubles.

It was humorous, but I don't think the other titles in this series are quite up to the standards of wit set by the Itsy Bitsy Spider story. Kids will appreciate, however, that this one ends with a roomful of farting sheep.

In this installment of the "Urgency Emergency!" series , Little Bo Peep seeks Dr. Glenda’s help in finding her lost sheep. Suddenly, the ambulance arrives at the emergency room with three ailing sheep complaining of tummy aches. Dr. Glenda uses her Tummy Trumpet to examine the sheep’s bellies. What she finds is a great amount of gas pressure building up in their tummies. Upon questioning the sheep, she learns that they ran away from Little Bo Peep, broke into a farmhouse and drank soda, “borrowed” Old MacDonald’s tractor for a joy ride and drove it in circles around the mulberry bush until they crashed. It was Old MacDonald who called the ambulance after witnessing the accident. Dr. Glenda treats the sheep with pink medicine that releases the gas from you-know-where with hilarious results. Nurse Percy and Little Bo Peep chastise the sheep and tell them they must make restitution for their bad choices. The sheep have learned their lesson and Little Bo Peep assures them that they are still loved. The anthropomorphic characters are appealing and humorous and complement the simple story. The pastel illustrations also add a touch of humor. Young audiences will probably be familiar with the nursery rhymes references and will relish the fart humor. The title would be a good choice for reading aloud.

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep - but she finds them in the local ER.
The Urgency Emergency series is a fun twist on well know nursery rhymes.
The sheep are at the ER because of something they did - will they learn a lesson and not do it again?
44 pages with great oversized illustrations and easy to read oversized text - I love the "thought bubbles" illustrating the characters remembering of past events.

I picked up 3 of the Urgency Emergency books from the library. I didn't particularly like the text or artwork but Miss 4 seemed to.

Miss 4 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

The author doesn't seem to run out of clever, humorous ideas with this Mother Goosey hospital series. This one will be particularly funny to children as it involves gassy sheep that will need to expel that gas...
