I Will
Sweetland offers a new angle on the metaphysical truth that happiness is a life-long journey that comes from creating, and not a state to aspire to in the future. In other words, what we do now and how we look at life now make us happy. He explains that the "I CAN" consciousness must be infused with the "I WILL" determination and developed through a plan of action, in order to reach our goals. Success is thus not a destination but a journey, from station to station. He lists the main reasons for unhappiness as a guilty conscience, self-pity, envy, selfishness, timidity, worry and the absence of a spiritual consciousness. He discusses the role of the subconscious mind and how it is activated by enthusiasm and explains how the subconscious follows the pattern established by the conscious mind. Almost gave this 4 stars... really should be 3.5 stars I guess :) - Good book, the type of book I like to read about the power of thought and how thoughts create things with specific ways to program your subconscious mind to achieve greater future success in all areas of your life. Certainly a worthwhile read.

I found this book on my dad's shelf when I was eight. As I devoured it line by line, it became my roadmap to life. 'Success is a journey, not a destination' served me well as I learned to deal with the growing pains of 'are we there yet?'.
The common sense that he has highlighted throughout the book made me see that action (I will versus I can) is what determines success, not wishful thinking. Even as an adult the wisdom of this book still guides me, would thoroughly recommend it.

This was an excellent self help book I read back in the 1980's. The version I have and read was copy written in 1960.I would recommend it to anyone!

Great beginners guide to better, more positive, thinking. I often get back to basics in my life and this book is where I've started 3 of those times. I've always read something new for the first time within these pages because my mind was not open to it before. If you have a chance, grab one of these. Although it was first printed in 1960, the positive thought techniques are timeless.

This author tells us that success is not just a journey, but all the blessings and good breaks that happen to us on the way, and that the Alpha and Omega of all desire is peace of mind.
