This is an excellent book for a quick examination of a very wide variety of things related to Japanese customs and culture.
The book goes into Japanese mythology, its religion, its literature and various forms of the performing arts. It also discusses housing and architecture, food, clothing, women, marriage, family, festivals, leisure activities and social customs.
There are numerous illustrations and the material in the book is written in a very understandable and non-boring fashion.
