New Year's Eve is full of drunken idiots and Peter hates everything about it.

Except for Stiles. Peter doesn't hate Stiles.

Fireworks is the third, last part of the Steter serial, Holidays with Steter.

The present storyline is intersected with Peter’s flashbacks, just like in the previous installments. Peter’s recall of the fire is still heartbreaking, but the ones of Stiles are adorable and made me smile. Peter and Stiles’ past connections create a nice background to their blooming relationship.

The sex scene is spectacular – the best way to greet the new year! ;)

Holidays with Steter is a wonderful serial. Highly recommended! Even if you are a Sterek fan, you won’t be disappointed.

Peter’s head swims, and he has to concentrate to keep his claws retracted. His wolf is alert, close to the surface, whining. It wants to scent, to rut, to bite, but Peter’s no unpredictable teenager. He knows how to keep the wolf on its leash. He won’t hurt Stiles. He was a monster once, but not tonight. Not in this moment, with this boy, with the unimaginable, underserved gift that is Stiles.

I really love how these stories move so seamlessly from past to present, and I really like the author's take on Stiles as a child. It fits the character so well, and it's almost heartbreaking to see Stiles' family in the days before his mother's death. I love the natural feeling to the progression of these stories, and how the author works the holiday into them. Another great installment.

A lovely addition to the holiday series.

I love cheeky little Stiles bumping into young jaded Peter and how he keeps leaving an impression. Their lives interlinked for longer than either have realised. Fun seeing the Sheriff with his young son too.

Present day and they get each other, colour the dark in each others souls. Despite the age gap there's no feel of this being anything but equal. If anything it's Stiles in control and Peter grateful.

Very hot and also incredibly sweet, with a grounding that makes it something more and has the good feels linger.

this story is fabulous and sweet, and wonderfully written, but my heart belongs to dark, rapey Peter.

I love this series for obvious reasons.

But, mostly because it intertwines Stiles as a willful and precocious child with the clever and sarcastic delight he becomes as a teen.

And the smut. The D-dubs always delivers good smut. Rooftop smut with fireworks!

Is DW flirting with a theme of "destiny" here? This is story number three in this series, a mix of Peter as a teen and Stiles a youngster with Peter the adult and Stiles the teenager. Because, she includes things like this after one of Peter's memories from earlier times, and to me it smells an awful lot like the compass pointing towards destiny:

“I really must stop underestimating you,” Peter tells him. “Clearly you know how to plan ahead.”

Stiles huffs out a laugh. “You don’t underestimate me.”

“No,” Peter agrees. “I don’t.”

And then he kisses him.

And now Peter and Stiles know each other, know THINGS about each other, little things that mean so much:

Peter laughs. He loves that about Stiles, that he shares his teenage humiliations so freely. It takes a special sort of strength, so rare in anyone let alone teenagers, to take something that should be seen as a source of embarrassment and strip of its power by laying it bare.

This "review" might be more quotes than not because I have to include what might be one of the best lines ever from Stiles:

“Welp,” Stiles says, drawing a deep breath. “We’ve love to stay and help you clean up and stuff, but apparently I have to go and get a pancake breakfast with my hot older boyfriend. See you round, Derek.”

I can totally picture Stiles as he says that, the look on Derek's shocked face, and Peter both smug towards Derek and warm towards Stiles.

Seriously. Destiny. Like, we might need an epic-sized tome about these two and their life together, from toddler and teen to two elderly gentleman. Screw the rules - *scoffs* because we haven't already done that - and gimme old Peter and Stiles!

Aww. This was yet another tasty Steter tidbit from the lovely Discontented Winter.

I love the balance of past and present. Tragedy changes people, sometimes not for the better. The moments that Peter recalls of young Stiles both charm him and remind him of who he once was and seem to ground him in humanity and the now. It's kinda beautiful. Stiles is just the charming goof he always is, diving in head first, giving it his all and taking no prisoners.

Loved it.

Ooooooh!!!

This one is totally my favourite in this series.

Good Peter (or a Peter who is not completely homicidal) is awesome Peter.

I do prefer Sterek but DW has made me crush on this Peter pretty hard. Not the Peter of More Than Biology or Don't Fail Me Now. But a Peter who is more stable and less of an evil douche!!

This is my favorite ficlet series ever, like in all of steter to Sterek fandom these holiday fics are just sugary perfection. I love the past views of Peter and lil stiles (and grumpy little Derek) more than even the fun smexy times and that's saying a lot. So.... Valentine's Day yes? I think there needs to be a Valentine's Day holiday fic.. And Columbus Day...and Presidents' Day and hell even a "national doughnut day" I mean it's officially recognized by congress so there should be a fic for it righ? ALL THE HOLIDAYS!

Peter hates New Year's Eve.

For the most part, he can't think of a single good thing about it.

Well...he does remember a kid playing dead in the park on New Year's Eve, because boy, won't his parents be sorry when they find out their little boy turned into a zombie ghost.

Now Stiles has grown up and here they are, sharing another moment. Holding hands on Derek's balcony as midnight draws near is pretty nice. What Stiles asks of him next is even better.

To Peter, Stiles is far too good for him, but he's selfish enough to never want to let it go.
He's framed in starlight.

Then, behind him, the sky lights up with fireworks.

The entire universe does.

It's a new year.

And Peter's happy.

... And I'm a little sad that it's over.

I am a fan of the murderous sarcastic Peter, so this was very fluffy, but it was also quite sadly introspective in that Peter realises all that he's lost and all that has changed him in these interludes with Stiles - who of course has had his own losses as well

Lisa constantly amaze me with her mad skills. Fireworks is less than 5,000 words but is multi-layered and weaves pieces from Stiles' childhood, the worst moments in Peter's life and the present. Toss in a holiday hook and you have a great short story.

Lisa gives us insights into the different facets of Peter's personality. He is neither all good or bad. He just is and is still capable of being uncertain. Loved this part:

"Well, he tells himself he only came to the party to annoy Derek, but maybe it’s more than that. Maybe he wanted to see Stiles again too.

Peter smirks at the sad view. Strange that even in his own mind he couches everything in terms of maybe. Turns out he’s never too old and jaded to stop lying to himself. To preserve a little shred of dignity, perhaps, in case Stiles tells him to fuck off."

Hmmm. I'm waffling between 3 and 4 stars on this one. I love the way Lisa catches Peter's character in all these shorts, and I love the switching between past and present scenes, and I always love Lisa's skill at boiling things down and using words efficiently. But the story doesn't quite grab me -- maybe just because I don't care so much about Peter. Dunno!

Imo Peter deserves some happiness and I'm glad he found it with Stiles. Now I'd love to read some of this through Stiles' perspective.

Kid Stiles is the best and I just adore how Peter interacts with him in the flashbacks!also, the fireworks behind Stiles losing his virginity was kind of epic :D
