This fully updated and revised sixth edition offers readers a comprehensive set of tools for understanding the urban landscape and, by extension, the world’s politics, cultures, and economies. Providing a sweeping overview of world urban geography, noted experts explore the eleven major global regions. Each regional chapter considers urban history, economy, culture, and environment, as well as urban spatial models and problems and prospects.

One of my favorite books. This book was like a world tour for me. The tour, however, was through certain lenses and could not offer everything and possibly no book could do that but this world tour of the cities in the world was at least first step in getting to know cities around the world and their histories and dynamics.

Useful for teaching university level introductory courses to urbanization across the world. Very comprehensive, although a bit expensive for students. There are also resources available online.
