I really need to find Bobbi Faulkner and fan-girl her. This book, and her next, are some of the best, most straight-forward volumes for National Board Certification candidates and support providers I've read...and I have been reading since 2000.

Faulkner has taken on the new process, or as she says, Version 3.0, and had given us a blueprint to success. While there isn't anything in the books that is new and revolutionary, her ability to cut through the jargon and find the essence of all of the new Components will influence my work with candidates. I can be more efficient. I can have my ideas backed up with the evidence... And hearing the things I knew to be true, expressed in her bold prose, had me nodding in agreement and recognition.

IF you are a candidate or a support provider, this book, which addresses Components 1 and 2, and the next book on Components 3 and the brand new C4, are a must-buy. Must. Buy.

Reading it before you tackle the entire Component will focus candidates, and reading as you work though the Component will keep you on track.

Successful Strategies for Pursuing National Board Certification Components 1 and 2 is a great introductory book to read as you begin your NB journey. This was a quick read, and although I highlighted way too much I can see myself using them when it times to write my written commentary. I see this as a fast read to read both before and during the process of working through components. This was a good use of my time.

I wish there were versions of this book for each specialization! I benefitted from general reminders/tips, but truly benefitted when examples were given from my own specialization. I read the Component 3&4 books first, so lots of repetition, but the parts that are repeated are imperative to passing so it makes sense to say & read again & again.

Bobbie is extremely helpful for candidates pursuing National Boards and I highly recommend joining their NB Facebook group for further help.

Basically tells you to carefully read the standards and follow the prompts. The samples and sentence starters were helpful. Not worth the $30. You can get to the same place by carefully reading the general and component instructions. Useful for peace of mind if you need validation of what you are doing.

It feels small for the price. I also felt like it repeated most of what my group/mentors have already told us. It's great information, but I feel like I didn't need to pay for this small book when I could just read the general instructions for the NBC.
