A short novella ~ sweet historical Christian romance. 1867
The farm was finished. Greta kicked at the dead plants and reeled at the warring emotions roiling inside her. Dread that she and Grandpapa would starve and relief that now, she had no choice but to go to Chase Logan. She’d agreed to be his mail order bride and prayed she’d made the right decision.
Chase Logan had sent Greta the money to come to Texas. He needed a good woman. His hands shook as he read the letter. She was coming. His nights wouldn’t be lonely. No longer would he and his two brothers have to eat beans every meal. Yeah, he’d done the right thing. He needed a woman.

A short novella in 1867, Greta lives with her grandfather. the farm failed and they had to find other ways to take care of each other. She wrote to Chase Logan who was looking for a Mail Order Bride. Greta took her grandfather to Texas with her to meet Chase, she was not aware that Chase had two brothers living with him. The brothers lived in the bunk house, of course there were some ups and downs for awhile. This was a short read, pleasant story, good clean easy Christian novella. I enjoy reading Patricia PacJac Carroll's books.

Interesting plot

Unlike many mail order bride stories, Chase and Greta started out on the wrong foot and both were sure they had made a mistake. Strong characters, nothing stereotyped about them. They both had fears and bad memories that came between them, not to mention lazy brothers and an uncle and grandpa who insisted things be done right. Enjoyable sweet romance.

Why are arranged marriage stories some of the worst written books. This was like a bad short story of 7 brides for 7 brothers without 4 brothers. The oldest brother was a hick, no mannered dork who had to be taught by his uncle how to treat a woman. It was way short and the writing was juvenile.

Sweet story of loyalty.

The story is full of forgiveness and trust that the Lord truly will make things work out. Her care for her grandfather sets the tone for the whole story.

Good Christian reading

It was a comical, fun story. I like that her grampa and the uncle were watching out for Greta...and the boys too.
