**** 4 Cranky Stars ****
Okay. Where to start? This book was like holding reality. At times it was heart warming. Other times, heart wrenching, messy and complicated.
The story centers on Beatrix "Trixie" who has never experienced love and looks for it in all the wrong places. Her sense of self is limited. Her sense of worth is non-existent. She longs for things many of us take for granted and doesn't believe she deserves.
After a hook up, Trixie discovers she's pregnant and begins a journey of self-discovery.
On paper, it is not my usual choice of book, but I'm so glad I read it. Parts of it are difficult to read. It certainly pushed some of my buttons and made me question fundamental aspects of my own preconceptions on how people who have never experienced love or nurturing make sense of their world.
This is a brave book. It's more experiential than enjoyable, but it is highly recommended.

This book loses a half star for sloppy editing, but in terms of content, it's an easy five. Trix's story isn't always pretty. It's raw and messy and absolutely gut-wrenching at times. But amid all the mess is hope, and acceptance, and a picture of what real love should look like. Trix doesn't always make the right decisions, but she grows as a character, she learns from her mistakes, and, despite some predictability, her story is compelling from beginning to end.
This isn't a book for younger teens, but mature older teens could learn a lot from it, especially paired with follow-up discussion.

I read through this in just a few days. This book made me go through a roller coaster of emotions, which I find difficult to put into words. At times I was skeptical that Trixie could be so insightful and intelligent yet continue to make such poor decisions over and over again. Then I realized that this is how she copes with all of the trauma and loss she has suffered in her life and that it only takes one little stressor to knock her back into those negative coping patterns. Trixie is just a really special character and I really loved her and could see why so many others in the book loved her and stood by her.

This book is so real, deep and raw. It portrays some very ugly things in a way that is heartbreaking yet resilient. I worked with birth moms for years and am awe of them. I love how much this book honors a teenage girl who finds herself facing an unplanned pregnancy. Heads up, there is a bit of language. Profanity is a normal way of life when you come from these circumstances. I am very curious about what the author has gone through to "get it" and understand these circumstances.

The plot of this book is excellent. I loved a supportive teacher, being there for Trix when she was at her lowest. I kind of had a feeling the
conclusions would be as it was.
I will look for other works by this author.

I read this book in one day. It was so gut wrenching. The character, Trixie, should have been so dysfunctional but she managed to survive; although, she didn't like herself or her circumstances. She just keeps persevering through one hard time after another.

3 1/2 stars. I'm not sure what to think of this book. It was heartbreaking and lovely all at the same time. It was a quick read I was hooked after the first few pages.

This Too Is Love hits so close to home in the subject it raises. The book hits on teen pregnancy, dysfunctional families, acting out, loss and finding yourself.
Trixie has lived a rough live, her family is dysfunctional to the max, her mother anything but a mother, her aunt and cousin just as dysfunctional, yet still better than the reality she's been living. Determined to start over and find the love she's been craving, she starts giving herself to anyone who wants a part of her, only to end up facing the consequences.
Ricky was a everything a you'd expect an unexpected teen dad would be, yet more. He had so much more to offer Trixie, cared about her for who she was, not what she gave him. He valued her, filled a void for her. He showed her what she could have.
I think the best part of this entire story is the role of Mrs Carter and Julia and David. They provided Trixie with all the love she ever was denied. Gave her warmth and love, caring and concern, self respect and everything a parent, biological or otherwise should provide their child.
This story had so many heartwarming moments and just as many heartbreaking moments. I could so easily connect to Julia and David and their struggle to conceive. I can also relate to their desire to foster a relationship with Trixie.
This book was outside my typical genre, but I am so glad that I ventured to read it. It impacted me on such a deep level, it is worth reading no matter what genre you prefer. You can't go wrong with this emotional read!

This is an enjoyable young adult book. I won't call it a romance, my genre of choice, because it's more about growing pains than a romance.
Trixie has a hard life that just gets harder. though her actions are not desirable I think they show a good picture of a young lady who is just looking for one person to love, or even care, about her. The emotional rollercoaster and what this teenager experiences is very sad. but the story pulls you in so you can't stop reading.
The time line at the beginning is a bit confusing and left me scratching my head a few times hanging on. I also felt like the ending missed its mark, not that it was bad, just that it could have been more complete.

You will not be able to put this book down and you will not be able to make it through the book without shedding tears. It is emotional and gripping. You will experience so many emotions while you are reading. There are happy moments and yet there are moments that are so raw, you feel the intensity of the characters' feelings pouring from the pages. This is so much more than just another book, it touches on such deep subjects, yet you don't feel like you are missing anything. I loved how this book has an underlying theme and it is no matter who you are or where you came from or what hand life has dealt you, it is more important how you deal with it and move past. How beautiful life can be when you look forward and not back.

Stopped at 10%
Perhaps if I was desperate for something to read, I would have read on. As it is, I have literally 100s of books waiting to be read so I have gotten pickier. I could not relate to Trixie. I did not feel for her... or care much for her, which is unusual for me. All in all a combination of the characters and the way this book was written lead me to say "who cares?"... not worth spending my time reading about a girl who will give it up for anyone just to get a tiny bit of attention which she did not get from her mom who is a prostitute. It's a sad story, but not one I will be spending my time on.

5 SWEET STARS IN THE HEAVENS
OMG, this was the most touching, heartfelt, gut wrenching, heart clenching and emotional story I've read in awhile. I had tears in my eyes through most of this story, my heart breaking for what Beatrix went through. I just could not put this book down, it was that intense.
What a gift this Author has putting such emotions on paper and feeling as if you are right there with the character feeling all that emotion.
Truly, this book blew me away.

Hang onto your emotions, it's gonna be a rollercoaster
This is such a good story. It's so beautifully put together. There is such brokenness and hurt and sadness that in the end is replaced by acceptance and hope and eventually genuine happiness.
Even though I haven't experienced anything near what Trixie has, I feel like I can relate to her character. I laughed and cried and cheered for her and wow. She overcomes so much and the story is written so well, I read the whole thing in a day.

This book was fantastic. It made me laugh. It made me cry. Trixie goes through some serious life changes and realizes that it doesn't matter where you come from, but the choices in life that make you who you are. A beautify heartwarming and heartbreaking story all in one book. I can't wait to read something else by this author.

This book had a slow start. But it was amazing. The book was so emotional, you could fee the pain that the characters was feeling and my heart was breaking with theirs. I just wish I knew if Ricky and Trixie stayed together even though they were going away to college. There's always talking

Absolutely one of the best books I've read in a long time
I think there is a little Trixie in us all, which makes her story so relatable and endearing.
I will say this was a little slow for me in the beginning, but it did not take long to get sucked in the the emotional roller coaster. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone.

Great book
I think this book is more geared towards teenagers and young mothers, I'm in my mid thirties and enjoyed it. It really tugs at your heartstrings. It will make you cry.

Wow. A story that hits all the right notes like this one doesn't come along often enough. I never ever (almost never ever) read books twice. But I know I will pick this up again and hopefully love it just as much then.

Liked this a lot because it was real and raw. A young teenager is really looking for love in all the wrong places -no self worth -never had unconditional love. Circumstances bring her in contact with some really good people like the teacher who really sees her and her talent and possibilities.

This really was not what I expected. Especially if you have ever had a baby that needed special care. Gut wrenching. I would definitely say it should have a trigger warning with it. But with all that said and done, it was a great book.
