I wanted a turtle, but a toad emerged on the cover late in edits. My goal was to maintain the free-flow and ease of the first collection, but I kept being dragged to darker, swampy waters. The toad helped me to find humor there, too.
A little uneven, but it gets better as it goes. And when it’s good, it packs a mean, mean punch and leaves you searching for more poetry to fill the gap when you’re done. For sure recommend.
